Cute bag! Maybe you can flip that elastic waterbrush/pen holder so it goes over your sketchbook horizontally. Let us know if that works? I was eyeballing it while you were expressing your disappointment with the elastic band length.

I always pack art supplies when I'm visiting my mom and only 1 out of 3 or 4 visits I get to paint something there 😅😅

what a fun video Miranda!! except when the truck rolled!! i was going to suggest maybe using the pen holder thing and wrap it the long way around your journal so it could fit? LOL i tried!!

Wow! You sure were having a hard time when you just wanted to get some paint on the paper! Hope it goes better for future trips. Just a thought on the elastic brush/pen holder, can you attach it length ways on the larger sketchbook? (i.e. Horizontal instead of vertical?)
That was what I was going to say hahahaha. Just use the elastic pen holder the other way around, horizontally! :) Nice dusty trip Miranda, I hope your brother is getting better.
Yes, I probably could, and I may reconsider sending them back, but I'll have to figure it out when I get back home. I could also just sew the elastic more tightly, which would be pretty easy. I'll think on it!
I have three purses that are similar and I love them. They are my watercolor, travel bags! 😊👍
What a cute bag! I've been using water brushes exclusively on our trip so far; they're just so much easier on the go. As you say, it is always so hard to find time to paint! We had a 3.5 hour ferry ride so I got some stuff done in my sketchbook, yay! I wish I'd brought more buff titanium though, lol. I hope your brother is recovering well.
Ooh, I'm so glad you've already found a little time to paint; that's awesome! The water brushes sure do come in handy when a water pot isn't really easy or feasible. Can't wait to see the videos from your trip. I'm enjoying the FB posts!
Loved the video … also I think those pen holders are designed to be used with portrait orientation notebooks so you may find you have to use it wrapped horizontally over the sketchbook for it to work as intended. Or use them with a portrait format sketchbook! Love the idea of using them for a water brush though!
Thanks, Mina! I'm going to revisit my options for the brush holder before sending them back. I may just re-sew the elastic, but I haven't decided yet. So many options to still make it work!

I put a cuff cut from a sock around my wrist when painting to wipe water brushes off and it travels around the sketchbook when not in use. Brushes also travel tucked into cuff. Thanks for sharing your video, lots of inspiration.

you can put the pen elastic horizontally instead of vertically. Just a suggestion...
I thought about that but then the pen would fall out unless it was a fat one or I always stored my book up on its end.
Can’t you wrap the pen holder horizontally across the sketchbook so it fits snugly?
Yes, absolutely, but my fear is that the brush may leak or fall out. But I could just store the sketchbook in a different orientation. I was also thinking about just sewing the elastic more tightly. I'll think on it...
Maybe gouache would work better in the book?

Considering that!
Put the pen holder on going the other direction.
Pen will fall out or I will need to store the sketchbook the other direction. Thought of that, but discarded it for now.
