I love how Fleck looks at Hull when her solo ends.
She played Sam bush’s break exactly at the end
@@GrappelliconcertoinGha, good ear. I never noticed that. Note-for-note for the ending of Sam’s solo on the studio recording
Michael Cleveland is unreal…amazing player!
I completely agree.
OMG he acted the fool on this one, his smile at 4:30 lmao
Bryan sutton is a true master! The break he took was phenomenal!!
I'll say! I'd never even heard of him before My Bluegrass Heart came out, but his playing is just breathtaking. Wow!
@@321snoot better late than never :) I’m surprised you’d never heard of him. Bryan has basically been the top dog bluegrass flatpicker for over 20 years. He’s won guitarist of the year 10 times. I recommend you do a deep dive, everything he’s done is world class.
@@cokeandaslice I'm not "steeped" in bluegrass (unlike a lot of other genres), hence my unfamiliarity with Bryan. That said, I'll definitely take your advice and do the "deep dive" into what Sutton's done in the past. I'm actually going to see Bluegrass Heart live in April in CT, and can hardly wait. Thanks very much for the advice and the tip, Matt!
So many notes! It's unreal. Truly all masters of their instruments.
Sierra's stock is rising fast in the progressive bluegrass community. It seems like every time I turn around, lately, I see a new video of her killing it with a different group of top-tier artists. I'd like to see her sitting in with Chris Thile's band, Punch Brothers. Their style is a bit more jazzy, but I'm sure she could hang with them after a few rehearsals. My sincere thanks to everybody in this video.
You can find a video of Sierra and Chris tearing it up playing together at Telluride a few years ago.
The only musician who even comes close to outclassing Sierra in Punch Brothers is Chris Thile, and even then it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Sierra is very nearly on his level. I doubt she'd need "a few rehearsals" lol
Well....Sierra made Bela smile!.....mission accomplished!
" I met Chris when I was ten years old at MerleFest ...The next thing I know, Chris was over there and I was playing one of his tunes and he looks up and says, “Holy crap want to play it together?” So he jammed with me for about 2 hours..." I know she has played with him on multiple other occasions for instance czcams.com/video/DHznTAqc_3c/video.html perhaps you meant specifically with punch brothers. Regardless I'm sure she would have no problem like
Camp Sherman (feat. Chris Eldridge, Paul Kowert, Alex Hargreaves & Sierra Hull) · Wes Corbett czcams.com/video/ZWDYMmoNesM/video.html
You are correct she constantly pops up with some of the best current and past musicians. She is genuine. I think that's why she can sit in with any talent and not feel the need to steal a show but is a uplifting force of energy preforming live music.
@@bhr788 I think that is an emotional statement and a bit over the top? Maybe for picking bg or these kind of jazzy-interface kinds of tunes the two of them could appear as "comparable"? But I'm sure Sierra would say also that there probably is no mandolin player right now on Thile's level when it comes to "comprehensibly mastering the instrument". Just listen to his classical works in conjunction with all his popular stuff and you'll know. CT work on the Bach Partitas for violin actually got under the skin of some good violin players who were clearly annoyed that another instrument could play on their turf and sound good doing it. He was actually able to demonstrate some advantages the mandolin could have on the violin in playing this repertoire. That is how singular and unique Thile is right now. That said yes Hull is a monumental mandolin picker for sure.
Béla Fleck is a musical genius!!!
Yes he is, and has been for the last 40 years or more. I can't get enough of his playing.
Facts, brother. FACTS!
Never heard of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones until I saw them one day while scrolling through TikTok. This is now one of my favorite songs. ❤️
Listen to bela flecks album “drive” if you havent already
What an honor it was to see this show close out the 2021 RockyGrass Festival. Everyone played out of their minds. Bela requires serious precision and this crew knocked it out of the park. By the way Justin Moses (Sierra Hull's husband) played just about every bluegrass instrument through out this show. Should not have left his name out. Ask Bela how amazing this guy was. LOVED THIS SET!!
Saw them last night. Wow! I couldn't decide who was the best musician, or even my favorite.
@@ericbergmueller2981 I'm going on Friday night, 4/15/22. Can't wait.
Jazz Bluegrass! Ok with me!
Mike Cleveland on fiddle. Reminds me sort of Jon Luc Ponty.
If you’re familiar w/ JLP look him up on CZcams and elsewhere.
I am a formally educated Jazz drummer from back in the day.
I appreciate this Jazz Bluegrass Fusion thing, greatly.
Makes my day.
So many great young bluegrass artists these days with so much great musicianship in their playing.
Makes my day! 😀!
Wow, that's cool. I used to only like traditional bluegrass but I've started really liking this progressive stuff.
@@MasonCroneMusic I
I like traditional bluegrass as well.
The Price Sisters are my top pick along with countless others that put forth superb musicianship vocals and harmonies!
Molly Tuttle Jenny Lynn Gardner Billy Strings Laura Orshaw. Ainsley Porchak Rhonda Vincent The Black Family String Band Della Mae and on and on it goes!
Every single one of you are INCREDIBLE musicians!
I’m so glad I was able to see Bella in person back in the late eighties with NGR. Monster musician.
Spell it Bela. Pronounce it Bay-la. As in Bela Bartok. Bella is a woman's name, as in Bella Abzug.
Bryan Sutton making that Martin sing. Some great musicians there.
Wow! Amazing. Bryan's breaks are incredible.
That’s a swingin ensemble!
Bluegrass- where bass solos are incredible
Bluegrass needs more bass solos. You could tell the bass player in this video was having a good time.
@@MasonCroneMusic exactly! there incredible
Oh BELA.
These are some of the finesti in progressive blue grass players today
What a collaboration
.
I do'n't know where Bela came across the fiddle play, but the dude
is Hard Core! New to the seen. Hope he goes far.
@@markwilliams8532 Michael Cleveland, he's been in the spotlight for quite awhile
That's awesome. That style of banjo playing is very difficult.
This is a "dream team" ;-)
I completely agree👍
Sierra does an excellent job staying with the complicated melody Bela is playing on the banjo and she sure can chuck than rhythm! Michael Cleveland is amazing!
They're all super good. They are a huge inspiration.
Absolutely phenomenal playing on all instruments in this ensemble of aces thanks!
My new driving music 😀
This is my jam. I listen to it nearly every night before bed.
Awesome!! Every musician just kills it. Bela and Bryan especially have played with each other for years and it shows.
Sutton’s rhythm 🔥🔥
what an incredible piece of music, what a technique and what a way to dance with their instruments. I'm not American and this banjo music always reminds me of farm fights lol
I had never even heard of bluegrass when I first saw Bela Fleck and the Flecktones playing The Sinister Minister on either MTV or VH1 back in the day, it was just this killer sound I'd never heard. I don't even think I knew it was bluegrass for years after that. Always inspiring to watch and hear!
You guys play like masters while looking like kids having fun ~
No words.
Killer tune. Bela has written so many great songs over the years.
I don't know how he does it, he's so good. Writing is the hardest part of music in my opinion.
I have to agree, yes Bela is a musical genius. He is what you call a'"virtuoso "
He is certainly a musical genius.
For those who are looking for it, the video og is titled “Béla Fleck - Vertigo (Live from RockyGrass)”
The virtuosity!!! I'm speechless!!! 👏👏👏
Gives me chills listening to this. I'm going to see this version of Bluegrass Heart in April. Can hardly wait!
@@321snoot Lucky...😂 I'm jealous
@@MasonCroneMusic Yeah, I am very lucky. It was supposed to be a Bela Fleck & the Flecktones show when I bought the tickets, but the Flecktones decided they didn't feel comfortable touring, so it's now Bluegrass Heart. I've seen the Flecktones a bunch of times so, to be honest, I was thrilled about the revision! Hope you get to see them sometime.
When you thought it was safe to return to the bluegrass universe, Bela Fleck raises the bar again, and bites yer bum with magical music
All top notch. No bottom feeders there.
This would have blended nicely with Dawg tunes from Grisman back in the day if he had a 5 string player with these amazing abilities! What a tremendous lineup of artists, Be’la continues to reinvent by going back to his roots but his approach is now flavored with jazz, blues, grass, new grass etc. etc. Only Be’la!
The Fillmore 3/17/89: I saw the DGQ and NGR double bill with a two band jam encore of Telluride and EMD. Bela was in NGR. David gave me a copy of the taped concert, but that's long gone now. Listening to it together, when Bela's solo came up, he remarked, "It doesn't sound like a banjo there". Good times...
Holy crap, that was good!
Hell yeah
5 virtuoso ! fantastic new blue grass !
Agreed!
Bêla...one of the most inspiring musicians! Your mates would agree! Virtuosity, artistry, creativity.....joy!
If drive was made in 2021. It's progressive but still great riffing
I’ve been feeling the same way
Every one of these musicians left more talent in a Honey Bucket at Rocky Grass than I'll ever have!
What a level of musicianship!
Finally,I would have picked all of you to be my dream group to play this music
That right there us why I fell in love with bluegrass
Mesmerizing performance from all. Wow!!!
You can really hear the bass on this recording. Kicks ass
wonderful!
i like this band i do.... GOOD people GOOD.. HA! We all know its GREAT music. i jam to it and i know ...great stuff. Must say again though, Good People
I jam to it all the time, it's awesome.
As it is said, it really doesn’t get much better than this
Mind-blowing!
Indeed!
A magnificent performance individually and as a whole.
What a great performance from greats in the field. A super group if there ever was one, I'll have to check out the album.
Her solo is king
Wow!Unbelievable good!!👏👏👏👏
Great quality blue grass music 👍
Incredible! They’re all aliens!
Very close for sure!😂 The skill of each one of them is unbelievable
Love seeing this acoustic. Chills!
All amazing musicians. Thanks for this. :-)
Pelamor de Deus onde isso vai parar? essa musica tem a proporção perfeita de virtuosismo e musicalidade no Bluegrass progressivo, linda composição e impecável execução, surreal!!!
This is amazing.
GODS
Simply amazing - the rhythm, the perfect timing of all of you, the note choices! So energetic!
Wow!
Magicians!
yesh
WOW!!
Pure Joy=)
Tearing it up as always 💪
Wow, what did I just see?
Some of the best musicians ever.
thanks for posting
I’d love to see Bela and Jens Kruger play together sometime. Suspect it would be incredible.
two best banjo players in the world right now
@@bhr788 Don't forget Noam Pikelny! He can literally play anything.
❤😊
Amazing 👏
Good lordy, that was cool!
Ended up here because of today's NYT crossword. This is so cool!
A cavalcade of notes.
Is that Bryan Sutton guitar and Mike Cleveland fiddle and Sierra Hull mandolin...woooh yes
I'd love to see the chart for this. :-) Great song and performances by all.
I think the chart would look like flyshit on paper!! Yeowzah!
I've heard of supergroups but HOT DAMN!
Bella you should do a bluegrass album with Irish fluter Sylvain Barou.
I hope they become a regular band that would be awesome
Bela is playing with a whole host of different musicians on this tour. The second half of the tour is with Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer, and a few others sprinkled in along the way
With Sierra Hull and Michael Cleveland
eeyesssssss!
🔥
This rips!!
Flying....
Sitting in practice like “so the H part is like this”
ha! yes "in 9/13 time"
If they are looking for a wicked triangle player, I have the wicked part covered and I will practice hard to be the best bluegrass triangle player evva!! In other words Bela Fleck should put me on retainer for when they need a wicked triangle player.
Sounds like when your going through crazy, scary roller coaster ride.
Bela doesn’t play the banjo, he takes it behind the woodshed
Great way to put it 😂
I think I like Sierra's break better than Sam's on the recording.
Yep! She is simply an amazing musician…. playing along with the best and holding more than her own. My fav now!
I agree. i don't think this is really his 'wheelhouse'. I think Aubrie Haney would 'kill' it. Sierra was extremely impressive in keeping her aplomb in this complex tune.
Musicians names, please?
Amazing performances!
The cream of the crop.
I already said that...
Os contras são o máximo notas dando a intenção de crescimento e outras formas de notas
I need some Dramamine after that
Need to know ur stuff here
Smoken
I get the chord changes but not the melody or the tune...Jack Baker NYC
What would Bill Monroe think of this?
🔥
Virtuozně zvládají nástroje, jinak neposlouchatelné, připomíná mi to kulomet! Chybí mi tam pohoda Scruggse, Čermáka, Maliny atd.
