    Thanks for review, but you definitely should learn how to focus your camera. It is very hard to watch unfocused video

    As a mate for someone that uses a Lamy 2000 fountain pen…brilliant.

    Liked your review after the initial waffle but surprised you didn't say what size lead it takes - thought that would be a priority. Is it principally a sketching tool, a note-taking one, a draughtsperson's pencil, a hybrid of some of these, or an all-rounder? I'd appreciate your take on this.

      The Lamy 2000 pencil can be purchased in 0.5 or 0.7 lead sizes.

    Had to return this mechanical pencil.
    While I enjoyed the balance and quality of this instrument, the pocket clip was unnecessarily sharp and was uncomfortable with extended use. Not a pencil I’d recommend for long note taking sessions, especially for the price I paid.

    I disassembled this pencil, and I was never able to get that seamless-body again. There's always a visible line in the middle now. Any tips?

    A good review as always, any thoughts on the sideplay in the clip? I enjoy the pencil a lot but it's a minor irritation, along with the fairly sharply cut corners on the clip which are notieable when I rotate the pencil in hand...

      Kristan Holmes I did notice the slide play in the clip. We're used to thinking that all of the parts of a precision instrument should be tight fitting, but I wonder if the side play is purposeful. Are you less likely to get a pocket tear with the side play? I doubt that but, as a scientist, I like to think about possibilities like that. :)

      Michael Fryda Ha ha, a good way of looking at it, very optimistic. I had to dismantle mine to understand why there was so much movement. The clip is cleverly attached I must add, no glues used. Comparatively I own the fountain pen too, which has zero clip play but; that clip can't be removed. Great designs regardless of minor irks. I shall however adopt your optimism from this point forward...

    So for Christmas I was deciding between the Lamy 2000 or this Aluminum mechanical pencil, which had been a kickstarter campaign and it's called the modern fuel mechanical pencil. It's basically just all aluminum and has a stylus at the end, which it seems to be more durable. How is the Lamy's durability, or at least how the material of fiberglass feel?

    • @ClutchSituation
      @ClutchSituation  Před 6 lety +1

      The fiberglass is pretty durable.

      It’s not made out of fibreglass. It’s polycarbonate. But for some reason because it’s brushed it has really nice feel to it. Polycarbonate is not very scratch resistant but being brushed it doesn’t really matter.

    Bought a Lamy 2000 pencil recently, but the click sounds very different from yours, mostly it makes a metal-scratching sound...... wonder if its normal for this kind of mechanical pencil

    • @chiefemo399
      @chiefemo399 Před 4 lety

      I had the same problem. The life-saving fix is to rotate the inner metal cartridge and that fixes the problem! Basically, the metal was grinding up against the other metal. So you have to rotate it a bit to clear up the "scratch"

    Hello!
    Have you use Lamy Scribble? How does it compare to the Lamy 2000?

  • @alexmood6407
    @alexmood6407 Před 5 lety

    IT IS NOT FIBREGLASS. ITS MADE OUT OF MACROLON polycarbonate. Same stuff DVD and cellphones are made of.

    do you prefer this or the rotring 800+?

    • @ClutchSituation
      @ClutchSituation  Před 8 lety

      +dogeun Kim I think the 800 is a better pencil overall. I don't have an 800+ so I can't comment on the stylus feature.
