it got stuck, around august 27th or 28th, 7th time riding it and we finally decide to film it, it didnt work out. haha, it was freaky and my neice wouldnt stop screaming :P
At 2:00 notice how the music gets stuck before cutting off. The ride vehicle is expecting to pick up a cue point on the track, so that the sliding part of the music will be in sync with the track going up and down... and eventually times out!
Guys, everyone has their different fears and obviously she has a fear of roller coasters and heights, and probably finally plucked up the courage to get on this, then it stops. I mean, ur just about to do a big drop. Look in her perspective. She's scared ok lollll
I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped the ride due to her recording, once I was on the rapids and they stopped the whole ride because I leaned forward and supposedly I had a stood up, like I'm over 6 feet. of course I hit one of the sensors, I didn't stand up though.
I doubt that since it stopped on the incline. I assume that the launch track isn't designed to stop a rollback since the brakes are on the hill, meaning that they would have to evacuate the ride, etc. which would be a pointless process
I wouldn't think so. From seeing others' experiences at the Disney parks, California Screamin' is not one of the rides that disallow any cameras on the ride. The only ones that do so are Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at both "Disney Studios" parks and Tower of Terror at any Disney park that has the ride.
To be honest it might be understandable to be scared, watching the video you might not realize this but the your going from 40 mph to a relatively sudden stop in a short amount of time, that can be rather startling if your not a roller coaster enthusiast or not used to roller coasters in general.
Col.Ketchup yeah that’s true those of us who understand roller coasters know how breaking zones work but someone who doesn’t know how roller coasters work might be scared because they might think that the train behind them will hit them.
Yeah like they’re gonna feel the g force for 1 minute while they’re stopped. they’re over reacting. Plus the coaster slows down before it has its emergency break...
From the sound as it entered the tunnel, I think the ride safety system kicked in. Looks like they had the speed to get up and over, but another system may have detected a problem.
i learned in physics last quarter that it isn't possible on a tear loop. on a circular loop yes, but not a tear drop loop. so you're right for other types of loops. just not this one.
my brother and I ( were on that same coaster ) August 27th. we were stuck for a while. and then gave us fast pass tickets to Any ride in the park. yeah, that wasnt fun at all.
The reason they stopped the train was because the train ahead of them had been going too slow & was not able to make it up the hill after the loop. So the train rolled back & forth & finally settled at the bottom of the loop. The reason they are all screaming is because the loop is right next to them, & they can see the train rolling back & forth.
Looks to me like the ride mislaunched; it wasn’t going near fast enough to make it up that first hill. The computer detected the lack of speed and engaged the brakes to prevent a rollback (which would explain why there is a brake zone right at the beginning of the ride, that always confused me). I’d think it’s no big deal, but Disney probably has the operators treat it as a ride failure and evacuate the ride so a technician can check the launch system and reset the ride before they send it out with passengers again. As for the freakout... Meh, I don’t freak out when something weird happens, I’ve discovered that it doesn’t help matters. That said, some people have the cope with situations beyond their control by flipping out until they feel like they’re in control again. It might be annoying to others, but it’s their mind’s way of coming to terms with their predicament and they have to be allowed their moment.
Your in E-Stop mode don't worry. If there is a backup of at least 1.5 seconds then it will do this and to all the people who think the ride can stop on the loop. It can't, it will be impossible because the loop has no breaks. Look closely at the video there are breaks on the side of the tracks. This is the start of a block zone. See
That is because the break in front of the loop sent off the car at a normal speed and there was a backpack on the track which slowed it down. But it will never ever stop upside down because of he force of gravity
SoCal ThemeParks in 1998 there was an incident where 23 people were stranded for nearly 3 hours on the loop on the demon at Six Flags great America. That was when they put Locks on the wheels. One of the wheels was loose so which caused the wheels to lock right on the loop. They had to get cherry pickers to go up and unlock each row upside down. So yes I can get stuck upside down but now they use block brakes instead of wheel brakes.
Also u can tell they stopped it on purpose because it got slow at the end of the launch, the ride isn't made for rollbacks, that's why they have the breaks, and plus that ur right next to stairs, AND AT DISNEY!
you are correct, you didn't say "Can't", you said "impossible". your are also correct regarding LIMs. in this case (usually happens in the morning on CS), it "mis-fired", didnt have enough power, and the breaks did exactally what the were designed to do... but i am sure you already know this, but for anyone who is seeing this vid and thinks its some sorta major break-down, it isnt. it was up and running within the hour.
I can't really see because of the quality but if you see at 0:45 to your left the brakes looked like they were closed so and did you see how slow it was on the boost? There was definetly a malfunction.
OMG! I was there that day! Im so glad it didnt get stuck when I was there. I wondered what happened to the music though. They did say there was a problem. I think Im right in front of these people. :D
So, sometimes if someone takes out a phone room camera on a coaster whuch was not cleared and the employees notice, they'll stop the ride at the next lift hill or break section, or there was a issue further up on the track and to prevent collisions, they stop all trains. There could've been an issue with the ride, either way the ride and it's operators is doing its job to prevent the situation from escalating further.
That just happened to me yesterday. I was in the yellow train and we stopped on the hill too. some people were able to walk off but the back few rows couldn't because they weren't near the stairs. unlucky for me I was in the 3rd to back row so they made us go backwards. And it's not that bad either, its kinda fun just sitting there
Scream or not the ride is scary if it breaks down. This ride had a collision a while back. There was another video where they got stuck but there wasn't breaks so the cars were rocking back and fourth
Somebody had dropped a back-pack on the tracks & the train ahead if them ran over it, damaging the wheels, & causing it to not have enough speed to make it over the hill. Comment below for rest of info.
o jeez calm down i've been stuck like that b4!! at least they can just stop you! i feel sorry for them people rolling back and forth i would been shitting myself if that happened to me! specially seeing as they barely made it through that loop!
@RocketRodder no it isn't. roller coasters are now build with loops in the shape of a "tear drop" so that it is impossible for them to find a balance point. only old roller coasters with a perfectly circular loop have the possibility of getting stuck
I know as someone that is involved with roller coasters, if you are caught with a camera, they will stop the ride. Ride the ride with your eyes, no need to film the event.
Attention passengers on California Screamin'. We've encountered a slight delay. Please remain seated with your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the cars. A crew member will get you out in just a moment. Gives me nightmares hearing that. *Shudders*
@aimeelalonde1090 I doubt it did, that coaster uses a combination of pressurized brakes and magnets to lock trains at specific locations in the case of a problem occurring. While its scary to be stuck in the uphill, its better to be there than to be in an area with no brakes and crash into a train that is stuck in front of you. Also there was no way you would be crashed from behind since the ride would not launch any trains due to this failure.
it was intentional. You can hear the brakes never opened because there was some sort of malfunction(wether it was technical or physical). You are lucky that it stopped you
I have never been stuck on it before but all I know is that if it happens they have cameras all around they will stop every cart and get you off safely
Not only do they have cameras, but they have ride systems called blocks, and at the end of each block there is a block brake. If the next block has a cart in it then the block brake will stop the train behind the stuck one.

Meanwhile, at the Disney Headquarters:
"Roller Coaster 1 has broken down."
Mickey Mouse: lol my theme park rides always break!

Is that RCT3 (Roller Coaster Tycoon 3) Style? LOL.
Also in Headquarters Space Mountain Broke down for the 3rd time today...... Well Shit

@Eli gaming roblox It’s just the soundtrack
@Eli gaming roblox Oh snap you’re right! The music is different on ride than the soundtrack. I never noticed that. Thanks!

Interesting, considering that the description said that they rode it SEVEN times before this.

On August 6, 2016, passengers on the ride were stranded for 45 minutes before being rescued when a fallen purse triggered an automatic stop.
From the sound as it entered the tunnel, I think the ride safety system kicked in. Looks like they had the speed to get up and over, but another system may have detected a problem.
1:48 guitar stops playing lol
That part of the ride has a sensor. If it doesn’t hit it then you get that high pitch something where the block brakes are right before it.
I love how the music keeps playing 😂
I guess this is why they call it *takes off sun glasses* "California SCREAMIN"! YYYEEEEEEAAAAHHHH

There's a 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance of you getting stuck in a loop. The momentum pushes you up the loop, and gravity forces you back down.

It does to get them off. That whole hill is just brakes. To get off they just roll you backwards either back to the launching track or to the station.

not that part cuz ur near the water and theres no way to really get out until the employies come out and waiting would take FOREVER!!
The breaks deployed somehow and the chains were locked. If the power wasn't on, the sounds wouldn't play.
gravity stops you from getting stuck in a loop XD
When the onboard audio finally realized it's stuck 😆😆
I saw this happen once
it kinda terrified me for awhile :P
if a wheel jams or an axel jams, you CAN get stuck in a loop if it happens during an inversion. search youtube for a visual aide.
why are they so scared? Disney wouldn't let the coaster roll backwards they are in safe hands
a roller coaster got stuck doing a loop the loop back and forth for 15 minutes

When the power goes out on a roller coaster it is impossible for it to get stuck on the loop, the train doesnt have a motor its all gravity.
