    It is fine and beautiful! Have a chuckle and love the beauty of all the versions of that block. Call the quilt "One of these things...." or "One of those things..." You learned so much from it and pivoted so well. Experience is invaluable and you can always look at the quilt and think about the value that it brought to your quilting journey!!

    I just KNEW that quilt was going to be stunning when I saw the blocks. The sashing with cornerstones truly is what makes the blocks sing their songs of glory! Being detail oriented, and a perfectionist, it is difficult to let a “mistake” remain. But it is being at peace with yourself that lets you accept it and find the positivity of the beauty of the completed project! I love your perception of reality and your inspiration. Thanks for all you do! ❤️❤️

    I use one of the three-slot flatware organizers when I am quilting on my Ulmer frame. It keeps snips, needles, thread conditioner, thimbles, phone and chocolate - all of the hand quilters necessities- at my fingertips. Hey, by the way, if you ever run into an issue with needing additional materials, thread, etc. - please let me know. Really, I have 3 JoAnns within a hour from where I am in Maryland; one is 10 minutes up the road :) And if I ship UPS by 5:30 pm from MD to Virginia Beach, it arrives the next day without extra cost. I know this because I ship things to my grand-kids all the time. Enjoy your weekend and keep the great "real" videos coming.

      Oh my gosh Mary! You are so generous!! I have a couple of joann stores here so I am able to get to them if needed. I was kind of surprised that they were out of what I picked up just a month ago. I did have some trouble getting enough yardage on the bolts for this project when I bought what I bought for this project. But I should have plenty to get this one finished up....which hopefully is this week! Then I'm going to work on small things. I have some stuff in that chair under the backing fabric of things I've been wanting to make for a very long time. So when this is done, I'm starting there. I really do appreciate your feedback, and thank you for your kind words!

    One more white border to surround the cornerstones so they float in the white. Then that is it. I would rip out the bottom left square just enough to move the four patches around and make it agree with the rest. It is easy to do now and you will be glad you did in the end so don't compromise now. Take a day off and get some new mojo and go back in for the finish.

    • @PattymacMakes
      @PattymacMakes  Před 2 lety

      Thank you so much for the suggestion Barbara!! I just don't have time right now to spend another day or day and half on fixing the blocks. I'm already way, way over what I planned for the time on this. I have to keep this moving along so I can finish it and start the next batch of things I have to work on. It's really not so much mojo as it is the time pressure. It is what it is and I will know to pay more attention next time.

    Hey, Patty! I watched your video last year about the IKEA table and wanted one right away! We built a he shed/she shed and my room is for sewing at our mountain home as our house is very small and sewing makes noise! This table will fold up and sit under my double windows when not in use. I started looking at the Charlotte, NC store and there was none in stock. I looked at least 200 times since last October. I finally found that they should be available in June, but after watching your video, I immediately looked and they had the birch in stock. I sorta wanted white, but if I don’t like the way it looks, I will just paint it one day. I purchased on line and will be heading to Charlotte today to pick it up. I dread putting it together, but I am very handy and will get it done! Thank you so much for your information! It is very helpful!

      @PattymacMakes  Před 2 lety +1

      Oh I'm so happy for you!!!!!! The birch table is gorgeous, and I still kind of wish I had it, but I love my white table all the same! Just split up putting it together over 2 or 3 days and it's not terrible. Once the drawers are together, it's mostly done. I have to check my store and see if it's come back in yet. Please do let me know how you like it once you get it together!

      @@PattymacMakes Hi, Patty! I made it to the mountains yesterday at 1, unpacked, ate lunch, and then wanted to start on my table. My neighbor wasn’t available, so I opened the boxes inside my car and carried the pieces into my room. I used the cardboard to protect the table as I put it together. I did the drawers first. The most difficult part was the hinges. The palm of my hands are sore from trying to get the screws in. I had to get a drill and drill out all the holes. My biggest fear was going through to the top. I wrapped duck tape around the drill bit at the right level and you would not believe how much wood came out. When I finished with the hinges, I was ready to put the final part together, which was the 6 screws in the metal bar. Would you believe those holes were the right size. No drilling needed. It took me 4 hours due to the time with the hinges, but it’s done and beautiful. Wish I could post a picture for you! I just don’t know how. Thanks again for your advice!

    Hi Patty, I’m a new subscriber, just getting back into quilting after taking about a three-month break. Your quilt is beautiful, I love the colors. Well done! It’s funny, I have heard that quote about perfection pretty much all my life (my Mom and aunt were both quilters), but attributed to the Amish instead of the rug makers. Either way, I concur. My kick in the butt to get busy again? My aunt (who is also my godmother) has gone into assisted living, and her children have given me her prodigious stash of fabric. So I have plenty of inspiration again. Peace from Ohio …

      LOL!!! Oh my gosh. Somewhere your guardian angel had a really good laugh over that one! Taking a picture before committing to sewing helps so much but I was just in such a rush to get this done I skipped that step. I don't think I've ever sewed as fast as I did on those last couple of rows and in getting the sashing put in on this project. I cannot imaging hand quilting a project. WOW! I did a little hand work on a wall hanging and even though I love how it looks, it took me all day to do 4 blocks. I don't think I would ever finish projects if I had to hand piece or quilt. I'm a machine quilter all the way. I am sure your gift recipient has not idea their is a wayward hst block and you can always tell her it was a design decision.

By the time I get to that part, I really want the project to be finished. I'd love to be able to send some things out to a longarm but for now I am DIY all the way. I really appreciate you kind comments and support Annette. Thank you!

    Talent, beauty, grace and intellect--you have it all going on Patty! The quilt is fantastic, each row with a different block in my wonderful patriotic colors. I like your idea of keeping larger scraps like triangles to use in future quilts. I may start to go through what I have. I think I may have to rearrange the bookshelf in my stash closet to use small containers like you showed. Thanks for the heads up about rising prices and limited quantities. I trust your observations. Take care and get some rest lady friend. Sending hugs, ~~Lynne

    • @PattymacMakes
      @PattymacMakes  Před 2 lety

      Oh my goodness, Lynne. I do not deserve you!! You are so kind to me. Thank you! In terms of the tiny hst blocks, I've made so many things with those heart blocks this year, and the trimmings were too good to toss out, so I stitched them into tiny blocks. I have quite a few at this point so I can review them and see if there's a fun, scrappy item I can make. The small plastic bin took them nicely and it does appear the bin with 3 compartments will fit nicely into the drawer as I wanted. So I need to try that out. Lori Holt has a beautifully organized closet for her scraps. Her method for keeping that stuff straight is inspiring and very helpful. She's the master of so many things! So you might want to browse her channel for that information. It's interesting to see what's in the store now and what isn't. I don't shop all that often as I'm pretty well supplied, but it is good to 1. get out of the house and 2. see what's going on out there. I'm grateful I've been planning ahead for so long as I do believe it will really start paying off this year. It's a constant learning experience, but some of the new-to-me things I'm trying out, I really like. Like milling my own flour, and using dehydrated vegetables in cooking and I started seeds this year to try out a bigger garden using the square foot method in planters and pots. I'm even going to try growing two harvests of potatoes in 5 gallon buckets this year. I've discovered so many great channels to help me navigate all of this stuff which has been very interesting.

    I bought an Ikea trolley and several from Michael's and I like the ones from Michael's more. The Ikea one is much harder to put together. It has very small screws that are hard to hold. The Michael's goes together much easier. And I don't see a big difference in how well made they are. I had 2 at the nursing home for my husband before he passed away and they worked great. Now they are home with me and they work well.
