So cool that you guys do these giveaways! I just entered. I also like that you do these builds on the cheap. I like to watch builds that the average Joe can do. Not people with unlimited budgets. So thank you.
Awesome video man.Its cool to see people do great things for others keep up the good work. I'll be ordering some stuff on pay day. God Bless You.. Going to subscribe to the channel.. Keep being amazing.
JL Audio subs are pretty expensive and if that alpine amp is functioning then that is also worth a good amount of coin as well. Just FYI you may sell that system and fund more parts for this project.
Can’t wait to see more! I think a little Amazon steamer would probably help as far as cleaning up the interior and the dirty little bits and pieces you may come across 👍🏻
The fact you got a manual one for this price is the big shocker. Great pick up. I've had 52 88-00 civics or intergras and do projects as well as part outs and I've never got a manual shell for under $750 and rarely under $1000. Running double that. Looking forward to the build I'm doing one currently on a 2000 ex coupe as well.
I had a 2k Civic Ex Coupe for 7years, lowered, ran great. At 223k miles, got hit in the back while I was at a Stop sign, squashed trunk and quarter panels. Wasn't worth fixing. Gotta 8th gen 2007 Civic Coupe now, manual 5 speed. These cars are fun and easy to maintain.
That’s awesome, I just picked up a 1998 EK 4 door last week for $400, had a snapped lower control arm and smashed fender, I just ordered all new suspension, bushings and fender/bumper, going to be doing all the gaskets on the engine just for peace of mind, all in I’m at about $1400
I really like this channel because you are down to earth with the basics of economy and restoration of some older cars that don't end up in the junk yard that have life in them still. Also the fact that you help out your community with these giveaways and or helping younger ones with with limited budgets to keep their rides going a bit longer, especially with the cost of everything, I know what its like, I was young once and know a tight budget with a car.....great job, and look forward the the final reveal!
This is super rad. I like the idea behind this giveaway more than all of those supercar giveaways you see advertised all over the internet. I hope someone gets it and appreciates it!
Pull the full interior out add about eight packs of black RIT dye In your pressure washer tank spray the full interior off about 3x it will make everything black ,and really clean ❤ spray it off with some vinegar and Wala fresh black interior 🎉
Amazing what just a little TLC will get you. I think it boils down to someone not having a place or the knowledge to do some of these things. I used to pick up scrap cars in North NJ. Picked up some many cars like this. Usually from kids that either didn't know what to do, got in over their head or couldn't afford to fix them.
Good quality video and accurate. For anyone that doesn't have a facility with a press or air hammer the wheel bearings and ball joints can all be changed using a little care, a little force, a big hammer, and some huge sockets by hand.
man I love seeing these kinds of videos you guys inspired me to do the same with my hand me down civic but I had to get rid of it because I moved half way across the country with my family.
This was my first car. 1999 Honda civic ex coupe w the sunroof. Mine was white. Got it when I was 18 down in Florida. Thing had 182k miles on it when I got it my senior year of HS. Thing was clean inside and out looked brand new. Burned oil really badly though, and the head gasket was blown I kept oil and water jugs in the trunk but the thing kept going.
Mine was a midnight black lx sedan had 193000 on it took it to over 200000 would have still been on the road but someone t boned me and I didn’t want to fix any more but that car was awesome I had a 2010 ex coupe and now 2013 si coupe
I just came across your channel in my suggestions. I like what I see 👍 this is gonna be an interesting build. The car has good bones, there’s a lot that can be done. Good luck 🙏🏽 I look forward to following along
I have a 00 ex that was hit in the front and has the same type of damage to the radiator support at that one, can't wait to see the repair so I can follow along and fix mine.
For the leak, sometimes the drain under the windshield gets plugged. Otherwise some rubber around the rear windows gets crunchy and bad. Thats what i've experienced atleast. Best of luck! Subbed
Love the idea. Making me feel more and more silly for having bought a CRX shell years ago, for more than this. Now with rising material costs, building my high school dream car is getting harder and harder 🥲
if you don't mind to share what brand name scissor lift you have there. Is it stand alone alone or bolted down? tks; also tks for sharing the your video
just wanna say im super excited for this project. i might actually participate. im a big civic guy and ive had 3 eks i love them. i know them inside and out super well, im just gonna ask if the whole car get repainted please please please keep it red. that oem red paint is already in decent shape and milano red is becoming a rare color. please dont spray the car black 😭😭😭
Haha ya those vids are fun. We are actually going to be doing a vid on our channel showing how to get a professional paint job using rustoleum and keeping it under $200
It's the sunroof drain trust me mine was leaking like that. Make sure it's not cut off half way or the tube not poking through the sub frame into interior.. I replace a new drain line I had left over and tape the new line to the old line and feed it through the frame all the way down until the old one comes out and undo the tape and feed that down in the frame.. Problem sloved.. Make sure the drain tray is clean and clear as well.
JL audio are pretty good speakers everybody use to run the if they could afford them. I didn’t get a good look at the head unit or amp but I bet they were pretty good quality. Especially if they were purchased new.
For the leak check the water return hose in top driver side corner of the sunroof blow air threw all 4 make sure they are not clogged but typical ek civic issue and pull the radio out those where rca cables and remote wire can pull them out easily cutting the rca was pointless from one honda brother to the other 💪👌
This video makes me miss my green 97. Basically they’re the same mechanically. Traded it for a very low mileage 99. But the 97 had a lot of fun memories. 205k miles of it….lol
$300 for a shell is an absolute steal Yes it requires a lot of elbow grease but for another $5-600 bucks of self labor maybe rattle can paint you can have a decent ek
I just went through fb marketplace and a few other sites trying yo find a civic from this era, 4000 was the best price I could find...thats why most of the cars on our channel have a bunch of rust haha
My gsr had the same water problem on the passenger side. Turned out it was from a clogged sunroof drain which flowed the path of least resistance down to the back seat and from there to the passenger floor lol
Yeah, my Honda civic ball joint had gone out as well. Also the dude ran a stop sign hit me up front right, I got it fixed when the guys insurance sent me a check, but didn’t cover the full work. So I lost the car! Bummer!
Hey guys I really like the channel nice to see you guys are keeping it simple and real BUT I think that tick in the engine is a perfect excuse for a B series
I got civic 2005 for $150 CAD not even US. Seller sold it for parts thinking it was salvaged by his insurance. But after 2 years it was active afre I checked the status in registry ha ha. I changed 2 doors from pick n pull when they had %50 off and matched the color and have nice civic for less than $250 CAD. It also even had timing belt and water pump done right before the accident. So $250 and I have brilliant car.
We've been looking to find a civic to do on our channel but they are getting hard to find and not cheap where we are. Hopefully we can feature one soon
By the missing timing cover i’m going to assume it was taken apart, head gasket replaced, and the ticking is due to a rocker being not put on right. I did it my first time and same sound, small score on the cam,no real issue tho and something you definitely don’t forget! Good luck hopefully it’s something super simple.
@@SmplBuilds No sorry, but it didn’t sound nearly as bad as yours does. It was also a constant ticking not intermittent. Hope this helps or gives you a lead!
Wonder if the welds around the front window are rusting out. In my old honda thats where the water gets in. I always thought it was from slight roll over dmg stress the weld but seems it must be common.
Super excited to build this car and give it away to one of you guys in about a month! :) Get entered here:

Super excited, thats for sure, nice little toy . God bless you. Seeing from Brazil! 🇧🇷
i want those subs !!!
Who won the fit?
So cool that you guys do these giveaways! I just entered. I also like that you do these builds on the cheap. I like to watch builds that the average Joe can do. Not people with unlimited budgets. So thank you.
Awesome video man.Its cool to see people do great things for others keep up the good work. I'll be ordering some stuff on pay day. God Bless You.. Going to subscribe to the channel.. Keep being amazing.
I work as a home health aide for a 87 year old guy from Taiwan he shows me all of his builds showed him this video he is invested 🔥🔥💪🏾
Hahaha lets gooo
Yeah Thats Exactly What I Feel for Mine. Im Doing The Timing Belt Right Now And Little By Little Im trying to Up My Civic. Its Exciting 😂
JL Audio subs are pretty expensive and if that alpine amp is functioning then that is also worth a good amount of coin as well. Just FYI you may sell that system and fund more parts for this project.
Back to the basics and what this channel was built on, love it!!!
For $300 you cant beat it. It has potential so good job on saving this one from the scrap yard.
For that leak, check the sunroof drain lines, may not be it but it could be
Yessir thank you. Got a whole list of spots to check if that firewall hole wasn't it.
I would put money on that being the issue.
Yup. Been there haha
@@SmplBuildssimple way to fix the drain blockage is some weed wacker line. My 2015 ats had a bubbling sound it was sooooo annoying
Agreed with the blocked drain lines. Firewall hole is definitely not the cause of that much standing water
When it comes to budget civic builds, the 79thproductions is the man. If you have any issues I think he would be happy to help you out
Love his channel!!
Can’t wait to see more! I think a little Amazon steamer would probably help as far as cleaning up the interior and the dirty little bits and pieces you may come across 👍🏻
Bought a 96 ex coupe for $500 can't wait to see how much potential these little cars have and learn a few things along the way keep it up guys👍
I got a 96 ex coupe too, you should post vids if you do anything to urs!

On the work break so this is perfect to watch 😍😍
Heck yes! Another simple build series 🤩
Great video! This content is dope and hits closer to home, keep it up this build will be sick🤙

Excited for what’s to come. Keep up the good work don’t stop
That EK is a great starting point, Dave's EG hatch is a pretty sweet ride also!
Thanks Wrecker!!

Hell yeah, man. You know we love Hondas 😍
these builds just get better and better!
I would love to build a simple little civic like this. Can't wait to see ep. 2

Really nice project build,⚙️🔥
Stoked to see some bringing one of these back to life . My first project car was an EK hatch.
Mine too!
Honestly love those 95-05 civics. Been wanting to buy an older civic and fix one for years now!

Can't wait for the end result 🏆👊
this is gonna be a awesome build i can't wait
Same here! Really looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Might have to do a civic on our channel. Love these civics
i watched 11 seconds. Im already subbed. Lets go. This is what car stuff is all about. Car, hands, time, effort and low budget.

Yeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssss what i was looking for to build one on a "budget" can't wait.
That subwoofer was probably worth more then the car😂
How long till the brake rotors start to rust when they get wet and cars sitting
Got a subscriber out of me man. Keep up the good work man can’t wait to see the rest and see the lucky person that wins it.
Right on time
if you don't mind to share what brand name scissor lift you have there. Is it stand alone alone or bolted down? tks; also tks for sharing the your video

every car deserves a second chance glad it found some love out there 💥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪💪🙌🙌💯💯‼‼🙏🏽🙏🏽
I love this built already! Civic Boyz 🔥 I love this channel hopefully I win this gem 💎
A Totally Awesome Build
Ngl this kinda motivated me to start doing some more work to my ek sedan. Isnt too bad but it can definitely be better
please tell me what’s the make and model car lift rack you have. thank you.
That’s dope
just wanna say im super excited for this project.
i might actually participate.
im a big civic guy and ive had 3 eks i love them. i know them inside and out super well, im just gonna ask if the whole car get repainted please please please keep it red.
that oem red paint is already in decent shape and milano red is becoming a rare color. please dont spray the car black 😭😭😭
Great video and education
Need an updated "how to turbo can" special 😆
Haha ya those vids are fun. We are actually going to be doing a vid on our channel showing how to get a professional paint job using rustoleum and keeping it under $200
Would love to lightly mod this one and take it to the track. I had a previous gen manual coupe that I drove to my university
Ya there is some serious nostalgia with these civics. To lightly mod one and have a little fun with it would be cool
You did good.the interior is actually 8/10
Love your channel
hahahah, that so closely resembles the current state of my own Hondas trunk!
Let’s go🔥
Me gusta tu honda espero comprarme uno algun dia 😂❤❤
Такой подход к суппортам,а направляющие поставили старые и старые пыльники, да и привалочные плоскости диска без медной смазки.

Hi, what sand paper do you use on the headlights?
JL audio are pretty good speakers everybody use to run the if they could afford them. I didn’t get a good look at the head unit or amp but I bet they were pretty good quality. Especially if they were purchased new.
You gotta keep that headliner.
Nice man
Jersey!!! Let’s go! awesome content bro! Wish I came across this sooner so I could’ve entered to win this gem!
Thanks! And the deadline was moved to March 15th since it needed more work than we initially thought! :)
@@SmplBuilds oh damn, aight aight. Imma try my luck. I’m in bayville, NJ.

This video makes me miss my green 97. Basically they’re the same mechanically. Traded it for a very low mileage 99. But the 97 had a lot of fun memories. 205k miles of it….lol
Love it, hate how some cars just get neglected and just the basic cleaning of the interior brought it back.
Would you be able to tell me the type of jack stands you used on the civic in this video?
you could repurpose the subs and use a new/smaller box that isn't overkill so you still have some decent audio in the vehicle.
$300!!!! yessirrrr!!!!
$300 for a shell is an absolute steal

VTEC!!!! Lets go!
For the water leak on the floor…. Make sure moonroof drains aren’t clogged Clean / blow them out
yessirr
