    I never understood why so many people disliked this show, from day one my wife and I loved it, collected all the seasons and must have watched it a hundred times afterwards. She passed away in 2014 and I haven't been able to watch any of out favorite movies or TV shows since, I guess I'll have to give it a shot again. I am 63, my mom and sister watched the original Star Trek when it first came out, there is no way to calculate how many times we all researched it over the years. My mom called Spock "ears" non of us liked TNG. Don't know why, probably saw all the episodes but just didn't care for it. Then Deep Space Nine came out...it was a so so show, a bit better than TNG and then Voyager came out and we were happy again. We all preferred Kes to Seven of Nine. She was a good looking woman but I never cared much for her personality. We watched all the movies with the original cast thru number 7 when TNG took over. Great films. I had high hopes for the new films but hated how they rewrote things. Chris Pine just can't hold a candle to Shatter. Love Karl Urban since his Xena days but him and Spock are the only ones who I can handle. I can barely remember Enterprise it's so forgettable. I hope a new series can come out one day that does justice to the name Star Trek. I know it's off topic but this reminds me of the situation with Dr Who. It was one of my favorite shows bit they had to much it up rewrite the past. I have no issue with a female Doctor but did not really like Whitaker and hate Chibnall and all he did. Hopefully one day I'll wake up and the world is back to normal

      There are two books that sort of work as a good conclusion to the series, showing how the Dominion War changed the Federation, the difficulties of re-acclimating to working in Starfleet and setting up what could have been the follow up. They are Christie Golden's STV: Homecoming and the Farther Shore. There is a few more of these books that follow the events but these two are ment to serve almost like the true ending/epilogue of Voyager.

    I really hated that they just showed Voyager approaching earth with a few Starfleet ships around it only for a second or two, then faded out to credits. They should have allocated at least 10 seconds or so for a slow considerate view of finally seeing the ship get smaller towards earth. That's the way I would have done it.

    • @kilroy987
      @kilroy987 Před 6 lety +7

      I think everyone's idea of what that would be like would differ. Should they arrive home at Starfleet headquarters? Each of them arriving at their own homes? It sounds like you wanted a third act epilogue. It isn't like arriving home offers new opportunities - instead, returning home is a restorative thing. I didn't need to see them land or disembark.

    • @RemyJackson
      @RemyJackson Před 2 lety

      @Anthony Marks I'd say that was partly due to the Enterprise, and also Kirk.
      I would also agree the Enterprise was able to outclass other 23rd Century ships that were supposed to be superior, but ships in the 24th Century are a whole different story. Starfleet ships that have taken the strongest parts of what made the Enterprise great, then had almost 90 years to enhance them within their other ships. Then those ships have trouble fighting the Borg ships. I would have to say the biggest advantage the original Enterprise would have against a Borg ship is its smaller size, making it a harder target, and perhaps able to perform up close sneak attacks while the Borg are focused on the larger 24th Century ships

They built up the relationship between Jane who and seven, but they were going to kill off Harry Kim or Kes when they brought seven onboard. Everyone complaining about how the ending just...stopped with this scene. The show spent TWO EPISODES showing the epilogue of the return while Admiral Janeway prepares to subvert the past. We really don't need to see the "proper future" epilogue. I like the format since it allowed the narrative to end with a bang instead of a slow meandering towards the finish line. Both formats are fine, but it's rare to see this structure.

    Voyager is in the conduit. Being chased by a Borg ship that is also in the conduit. The Borg ship is gaining on them and will intercept before the reach the desired exit near the Sol System. There's a branch turn ahead that they can reach that leads back to the Delta Quadrant. They adjust course. The Borg ship choses not to follow them and continues to the Sol exit, emerges from the conduit, exchanges fire with assembled Starfleet forces. Voyager that opens fire from inside the Borg ship, destroying it.
