Cement industry seeks government's protection from imports

The cement industry is calling on the government to protect it from imports and to also increase its infrastructure spend.
Last month, cement manufacturer PPC in conjunction with the Centre for African Management and Markets released a report that brought to light the negative impact of imports on the local industry.
The report says the industry is at a crossroads because of a combination of macroeconomic shifts and the influx of competitively priced imported cement.
