    I'm coming from a place where I usually make fun of one-pickup guitars, and DeLonge signatures in particular, but I have to admit this one is a cut above, I love the airiness the semi-hollow body adds to the distortion tone in particular and even the strat headstock is growing on me. Thank you for putting it through its paces!

    I just think they are cool. Im not a big blink fan either but its just a neat guitar.
    I also really like the colors and dont mind they changed the headstock too much. That roasted maple looks so good I wish I had a guitar with one of those necks and they even painted them in cool colors which is neat because the original Starcasters were in a really conservative color.
    There is something to be said about simplicity while playing as well. Right now I play a somewhat complicated rig (as well as running lights) and I find myself always switching *something* and less focusing on just playing.

A gig bag would’ve been nice Fender! No upgrades needed on this one whereas the J Mascis JM is so much better with upgraded tuners, bridge & tremolo, and pickups.. and wiring harness!! lol
    As far as having one pickup, you can get a variety of tones just by using the volume control. This isn’t the first one pickup guitar ( Les Paul Jr., Fender Esquire & EVH!! ). The gold looks killer but I only had access to the white one. I want all 4!!

      Honestly, single-humbucker guitars are excellent candidates for G&L's PTB circuit (if you prefer the pickup load of "modern" tone wiring), or Reverend's version (if you prefer the pickup load of "vintage" tone wiring), and a Seymour Duncan Triple Shot mounting ring: one pickup can have four wiring options and a two-band tone stack. I have a partsocaster waiting for assembly which does this in a pickguard with a four-way blade switch (humbucking wiring at the ends and splits in between) instead of using that ring.

  • @MrAaroncissell
    @MrAaroncissell Před 4 měsíci

    The thing that I really hate about both Fender and Gibson in dealing with their prices is that they show right out front that they are cutting corners for profit. The lack of fit and finish is bad. The lack of F hole binding on a signature series guitar is pathetic money grabbing. Especially when the Squier Classic Vibe Starcaster has bound F holes a second humbucker and comes in at under $450. Now getting the Squier and changing the bridge pickup for the same SH-5 and taking it to a shop to get the work done will bring you up to around $450+$100+100 (Guitar, Pickup, Shop) $650 or just under half the cost without leaving Fender as the name brand. For less then half you get a guitar that looks finished and high classed with the sound being looked for and you can do it again and set it up a bit differently all for the same cost.
    TO ME it sounds good but it looks cheap and unfinished.

      @@GetOffset that's how I hear it though my speakers, I may be wrong, perhaps if they become available for testing In person, that I may have a change of heart. But as I said the price deters it all. I own the original Starcaster so no reason to get this for pure fanboy status
