This is the first video I have watched where the kayak was loaded onto the cart, kayak riding on the cart and also showed how the cart was stored on the kayak. Most videos don’t show carts stored on the kayak. Great video!

That’s a really nice set up you have for fishing. I don’t fish but I lug a ton of stuff to an island about a mile away from my backyard. A friend hooked me up with a used kayak cart similar to yours and I was very happy to be able to get to the river 1/4 mile down the road with all my gear loaded and ready for what ever. The few things that I ran into over time was my cart had straps to hold the frame open with the kayak on it. Well they soon snapped and I used some 3/8in nylon rope to make it work better with the amount of weight I put in my kayak. The other thing was when I had the cart strapped at either end the weight was then transferred to my arms to carry. Placing it near the center makes it a heck of a lot better to wheel it over long distances. While in transit I use 2 old ratchet straps that I cut the straps to length and sewed them up so I wouldn’t have to mess around with setting them up to fit every time. I just hook the long side of strap first then the short ratchet side then tighten up a couple spins then do the same for the other strap getting the pressure about the same for front and back ratchet strap. Plus when I get to the island I use my kayak with the cart as a wagon to haul my gear around. I do volunteer maintenance of over 4 miles of trails on 300 acres of land. Ok I said way to much. I hope this will help someone out there.

This video was very helpful to me-thank you! My kayak is quite different from yours and this low-cost cart was perfect. This is the review I left on the website where I bought it. Thought I’d add it to the comments section in case helpful to others with a similar need. Thanks again for your informative and helpful video. You did a great job. My review: “So glad I bought this-what a value. This cart may not be suited to every kayak/canoe, but it meets my needs perfectly. I needed a cart that would allow me to pull my 9’ Dagger Zydeco sit-in kayak (38 lbs) about 5 blocks to a lake near my house. On paved roads. This cart was ready to go right out of the box; I just played with the positioning of the cart and straps for about 10 minutes in the yard to see what worked best before heading out the first time. It has a kickstand to keep the cart in place while you set the kayak on top of it. Lifting the kayak and setting it on top of the rollers where you want it works much better than trying to slide it into place-as this can turn the cart underneath. Also, for me it worked best to position the wheels just behind the seat. The kayak is upright so I can bring along all my stuff right inside it. Once I found the best way to wrap the strap around the frame and kayak, I was able to encircle it just once then tighten. The straps never loosened during my 10-minute walk (those who complain about the straps probably don’t have them threaded in the right direction, or maybe they are bouncing along very rough terrain?). The wheels remove easily and store behind my seat, and the frame folds down and stows nicely on the back of the kayak using the elastic bands there. I also secured it with the cart strap because I needed to take it along anyway! Thanks for a simple, useful product at an affordable price.”

One idea if you're still using the cart. I have a similar designed Ascend that I use under my PA12. Pull the kayak nearly off the tailgate leaving maybe 4-6" of yak on the tailgate. Position the cart to one side of the yak about even with the seat, and angled such that it is in alignment with an imaginary line drawn to where the bow or stern is resting on the ground. Lift the yak off the tailgate and move it over the cart. If you practice a couple times, you'll figure out the best position for the cart to perfectly balance the yak. BTW, I don't use an extension bar in the receiver like you have. Good luck.

... I like that you used this product and share it with me. Like you, I thought it should engage the kayak earlier when removing it from the vehicle. I also felt that the "raison d'etre" for purchasing this product was to use a drag rope to pull it to the water (nomatter if that water be local, or a few clicks N,E,W,or S).

I have a Vanhunks shad 10 foot kayak. It weighs 70 lbs (naked). I've been working for two days to get it to fit on my cart. There are deep wells on the underside and there is no way the cart matches up with the bottom of the boat. I am not willing to spend more $$ on a cart, need a new vest 1st. I'm wondering if there is a "fix" for this. All I want to do is go fishing.🙃

I’ve seen where a few people have modified this type of cart using pvc pipes to make it work for their kayaks. I haven’t gotten around to doing that with mine yet but there are a few people who have posted videos of their modifications. I’ll see if I can find them later & link them for you. *UPDATE*
If you have a larger kayak you might want to invest in a larger or heavy duty kayak cart. This cart can technically get the job done with the Sportsman PDL 120, but I think it might be easier with a bigger cart. I find it hard to place the kayak exactly like I want it with this cart because it doesn’t fit well to the bottom along the middle of my kayak. I think it would feel lighter to pull if the cart fit better towards the middle. I am not an expert, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I’ll post an update video to show what I’m talking about soon.
    Here is the update video:

Perfect for pulling my 9’ sit-in kayak on paved roads near my house in “lake country.” Now I can kayak whenever I want even when the pickup truck isn’t at home. This gives me complete independence and that’s worth $40, EASY!!! I posted a longer review elsewhere on the site. But I just wanted to send this to you since you work at the company that makes these. It actually doesn’t work well with larger kayaks like the old town pdl 120. I did an update video on it. It slides from under the cart & it isn’t a good fit. I’m working on modifying it so it’ll work. I recently switched over to using the wilderness systems heavy duty kayak cart. It’s pretty expensive, but it works. Thank you for watching!

Put the cart closer to the seating. Reduce your lifting weight. Be easy on yourself, girl.
I won't add metal seating or anything else topside if it obstructs me from slithering
fast back aboard after a capsize amid big waves. Hope you have an inflated paddle -
float to assist that entry. Me? I've had 20 years of paddling the Salish Sea. Magnet

For a sit on top my advice would be to get a H frame trolly where the poles fit inside the scupper holes it won't fall off & no need for straps. if you put it in the middle where the seat is if there are scupper holes it will be a breeze to pull & move around on your own. Most importantly have fun 😁👍.

@@rottenreelsportsentertainm2071 your very welcome. Things to look for is adjustable width & preferably a cone shape on the upright poles that fit into scupper holes so there is less risk of wearing a hole in the scuppers. I see a lot of people putting the trolly at the back & lifting from the front but in the middle ish is better all round in my opinion but what ever makes it easier. Safe paddling 😁👍 from 🇬🇧.

I used one of those carts wrong, it is supposed to go under the middle of the kayak so you aren't lifting that much weight. I did the same the first time and was tired after walking to the water, now I place the kayak cart under the middle of the kayak and it's so much easier and not as heavy. Also the tires were putting black marks under my kayak when I had it strapped to an end. Also since the straps didn't reach each other I just tied it off on the kayak to its respected side.
