Joel's vocals remind me more of MJK's work with A Perfect Circle than with Tool... and there is an overall APC feeling around this song. Great work, great band. And, God, DiDiorgio is AMAZING.
Just hearing this band because of Martin Lopez, to be honest. This guy will fade without being recognized in music as he should. I mean, of course he will remembered for his work in Opeth, but i feel its not enough. Guy got mad skills, a lot of groove. After opeth he just disappeared.

Maynardj NP! More people need to listen to Leprous. Their first album (Tall Poppy Syndrome) has a tiny hint of progressive death metal , but still retain the impressive blends of prog metal, prog rock and avant-garde metal, which made them Leprous in the first place. My personal favourite album from them is Bilateral.
Dude this song is absolutely awesome. Period. Period. That baseline the drums the haunting vocals. Period. Period I don't understand people's criticism of this band. Very pretty. But then again the majority of people are sheep and idiots
just because this band plays the same genre tool does, it doesn't mean they are a copycat! There are a lot of great bands who play the same genre but they are not copycats of each other! Saw Soen last night and they fucking killed it!!! Awesome band!
I been looking for something like this, I am obsesses with Tool and have been listening to them for over 10 years,I always look for music kind of like them and I have not been able to find any expect for this. so this will help me kind of listen to something different for a while....
I met Martin Lopez when he was still with Opeth, queit but cool, nice dude. Missed him and was worried he'd never come back to music so you can imagine how stoked I was when I found Soen with Martin Lopez killing it on the drums again. One of the best drummers of all-time IMHO and Soen wearing some similarity on their sleeves, they still have their own voice, writing some amazing songs, if it's good music and you like it, that's all that matters.
Excellent cymbal work which is a point for creativity (9). He's not really one for double bass per such, but he is no stranger to going from full-leg to ankle-motion in a matter of seconds, so a manner of double bass technique from what I saw, although not much hand technique. Sure he uses double strokes to get off quick tremolo-type beats, but that's no major cry for technical drumming (4). Gearge Kollias took the Swivel-Techique to a whole new level, which IS infact a technique
See that's exactly it. Why is he so good to me? The way he plays like in the Disasterpiece song, the way he brings out the guitar and almost shape the vocals at some stages too. Most people go for either fast or creative. I feel get a balance. Plus we're going a little of topic now. This is a video the most creative drummer I know, so lets cycle back to Lopez? :P

Those are two distinctly separate questions, and so I will go about answering them individually. Firstly, do metal bands write their own lyrics? Yes. Certainly some band might have a lyricist, (such as was the case king crimson on their debut) or may derive his lyrics from source material , but to be brief, most metal bands compose their own lyrics. Now for the latter question: Do they write their own music? Yes. Unequivocally. Clear enough?
I just checked about 1 min into 2 clips of him for Grog and Scent of Death and got to say, I like what I see. Great technique, speed sounds fast, would like to hear the power on it live though. Not much creativity in the songs so far, but have to listen to more songs to judge fair. I'll probably come back later to you in the week and let you know what I think if that realy matters, haha.
Yeah they were Inspired by tool, but tool was inspired by King Crimson. Music doesn't come out of nowhere.

To be fair professional critics love this band unless you're just talking about the morons calling them a Tool rip off
Should be born a new genre, it can be called tool metal
couldn't agree more
Yes.
best Tool-Metal bands (besides Tool=): Soen, Rishloo, Karnivool

It's quite a mix between them, but with it's own personality.
Lenny Leonard I totally agree.opeth all over..
I think it sounds Soen a Prog Rock band. lol
When life become worth living.
So much musicianship from steve and martin! Sounds like they play together for two decades! They individualy did more or so but never on thesame band

está con madres la rola!
В этом видео надо было сделать, чтобы при показе гитаристов, барабанщика скорость видео была выше чем когда показывают крупным планом солиста.
I agree with that, but it is also true that some of their songs like Canvas or Fraccions sound a lot like Tool! :)
López Drumming is so insane!!!
Gone from your side,
Break one lie
With a sigh, with a sigh
In your words, burned since long,
Seasons change as I wait
Radiant radiate,
All but here
Guiding light dims the dawn,
Posed appease cause to seize
All the signs faith misled,
Come the tide doubts subside
Lost in yourself, empty words,
Forsaken what used to be within me
Scars on your hands from nails that are worn,
Our loss resign in failure
