lol after al these years I have never used that 16 velocity button. Definitely useful for hi-hat patterns. Btw, I picked this expansion up with the holiday gift voucher on NI's site, so you basically get it at half price.
Yeah, the 16 levels velocity is a classic MPC hi-hat technique, pretty useful for sure.

I don't know tbh. I've made several videos comparing the Push and Maschine. If I could only use one controller that would be Komplete Kontrol S49 MK2 or another MIDI keyboard.

First of all thanks for the content and for introducing the new expansion pack from Ni. Always loved Boombap. This is definitely Dope Expansion! But how do you feel about all these Expansion Packs in general? I don't know, I have a bit of a split opinion on the whole thing now. The problem is that everyone buys the same thing and anyone who can use a Daw or Maschine can use this Packs so quickly make music they like. But in the end everyone sounds the same. Of course it depends on how you use these sounds. But think that it is much more creative to play an instrument yourself and to create your own sounds. What do you think?
That's a very good question, I would actually consider making a video to discuss it in more detail. There's definitely some truth to what you're saying, some people are lazy and don't put much creativity into their music. Sampling and playing instruments aren't mutually exclusive though and if you want to create your own signature style you should definitely go way beyond looping some samples from an expansion. Also, you can get packs from smaller creators like me (shameless plug). Far less people have these.

i like to watch beats made on maschine. i'm about to buy the plus since it is on sale for the holidays. ive never used it so a detailed tutorial on it would be awesome.
Yeah, I've got a big playlist of Maschine tutorials and they apply to the Plus as well but I was thinking of making updated versions of some of them, so I appreciate your feedback.

Thoughts on the Borough Chops pack overall?
It's solid. The melodic loops/chops are really creative. Drums are typical boom bap but very punchy. Not so much variety in terms of drum hits, like we get in other expansions but they all sound true to the east coast boom bap sound and are very useable. Not much in terms of instruments, but we already have these in the stock sounds as shown in the video.
Activate the swing option while holding the group, with 4D encoder.. The Machine is a real Beast in the Jungle, as far as Workflow and Speed are concerned, it bites all Akai MPC's Head Off!
..even without a Touchscreen. 😅

What is your workflow after finishing the beat idea in maschine? Do you export the audio files to Ableton to arrange the beat?

Why did you choose pentatonic minor scale
Because I wanted the tutorial to be beginner friendly and it's easier to create good sounding melodies and bass lines with the pentatonic than the regular minor scale.
