It's not easy to translate because the lyrics of Pavarotti are particular, for Italians too. Anyway, I add my translation: "Man runs after the power, but he doesn't know the great limits as it will seem. In the palm to hold an idea that doesn't live, that he wanted in his imagination, if he doesn't realize that then nothing makes sense if you live only for yourself"
James was probably so proud of Luciano to take on his song. I love how they took their time and as we all know they can sing their asses off two power houses but they did this so respectfully and so tastefully. Respect to both and To the entire strings band back round singers god that must been so exciting!
Im so glad you chose this, this has to be hands down the best version of this song. You got The Godfather of soul James brown starting it off, doing what he does best bringing the soul and the flavor. Then you have the voice of god himself Pavarotti coming in with the power, the strength. Then they both send it home sounding so beautiful together. Guarantee youâll get goosebumps! #RIP to these two icons and legends.
Two old blokes in their 60s! This is not only the best version of this song, it's one of the best versions of any song, ever! It is one of my all-time favourite YT videos.
I love James Brown, but Pavarotti brings tears to my eyes, such beauty! You must see the video Nessun Dorma, Los Angeles. Watch his face, at the end of his song. You will see that he knows he nailed it, and he is thanking God for the gift that was given to him. Pavarotti was a lover, he loved women, wine, food, music, and his audience. Note: YOU MUST NOT INTERRUPT HIM! Just sit in comfy chair, cause you will be trying to catch your breath.
It is absolutely no surprise to me that James Brown was loving Pavarotti's part of the performance; I once saw James Brown say in interview with reference to enjoying music that " God's ears don't lie..", in other words if you can hear music, and the music is good you can't help but be moved by it. Love it how the God Pavarotti is so gracious towards these collaborating artists. I saw him perform a song with Stevie Wonder (Peace Wanted Just To Be Free, you can find the live version on CZcams), and at the end of the song Pavarotti walks over to Stevie, embraces him and kisses him on the forehead. What a compassionate man; Stevie's reaction was priceless; like a little boy who has just been reassured he is absolutely loved. Despite the musical God he is, he had so much respect for Stevie.
Man, what a duet! And if you think that Pavarotti had cancer at that time. Singing quite effortless in a different type of style...Can you imagine what that means? Mind blowing.
Whew I got chills the minute Pavorotti sang and James brings the soul from the gut. This was awesome!!! Love how they hugged at the end. So much respect for each other.
This was an awesome performance. James looks so thrilled when Luciano was singing. I believe that this was an annual charity event. Check out the performance with Luciano and Barry White. The crowd goes absolutely nuts when they see Barry White walk on stage.
Pavarotti did a series of concerts and recordings called Pavarotti and Friends where he teamed up with pop artists and legends. This was one of those concerts. They did raise funds for charity with each of these collaborations. RIP two great legends. Good choice for reaction!
What a beautiful memory it is for me! That evening I was present at the show, called Pavarotti and friends. Luciano organized this concert every year in his small city of origin (Modena), it brought together many famous personalities of international music and did it to raise funds to be donated to charity. Thanks to remember it.
I saw James Brown at a concert when I was a teen. You couldnât take your eyes off of him and I was at Madison Square Garden up near the top rows. Iâve NEVER seen another artist with that much stage presence. I wish Iâd seen Pavarotti live as he was a favorite since the 70s . If Live At the Met showed an opera with Pavarotti, I was watching it.
The microphone quality, acoustics, orchestra and 2 legendary iconic artist singing an iconic song pure earphonic happiness! This cannot be improved. Bravo!
