Cub Cadet 1811 Foot Pedal Hydro Control

I really like most of the engineering on the old 82 series Cub Cadets, but one feature that is present on most late model garden tractors (and even larger) is foot operated hydro drive control. My box store tin green machine has one and it’s the only thing I like about it. So when I started the resto-mod on this 1811, I knew I had to figure out how to do it,and do it as “stock” looking as I could. After a couple beverages and some time pondering pushrods, bell cranks, and linkages, this turns out to be the simplest method with the least possible clearance/interference issues that I could come up with. Just need to fab up some pedals but so far I’m pretty happy with it! (Yes, I know my welding skills are pretty mediocre.)
