It's about the loss of her sister when she was a child. She died from a seizure when very young. You're right about the angel aspect. You'll notice that her feet NEVER tough the ground during the video. That's because angels aren't supposed to walk ON this earthly plane of existence anymore. ❤️

Evanescence are the absolute masters of the power ballad. Richard Carpenter may have invented the subgenre (Goodbye To Love, 1972) but these folks perfected it.

Yeah I would always wait for the solo on this song but when it first came out of the radio stations had a version where it was a piano solo instead of a guitar.
This song to me is the death of a relationship. The couple may still be together, but are drifting in different directions. She still loves him, but he is moving on and she knows it. The line, "but though you're still with me, I've been alone all the long" tells it all.
