It’s capitalized, it’s a proper noun. He’s the 13th Major Arcana: Death. Although given he’s probably an artificial life form like Clockie he could feasibly be 13 although that would place the clock maker’s death and Misha taking over as very recent events in Penacony’s history.
Also he’s apparently a follower of Enigmata according to Sunday and thus probably a riddler as the history he tells us is verifiably true with eye witness, it can’t just be a story made up by a history fictionologist.
And a riddler taking away a the concrete meaning of death with all these comas and metaphors and deceptions etc. fits right in with the riddlers goals.
