    I was screaming at the TV for Brad to keep his trail leg down, he had some pop-ups. Brad also got some bad breaks I felt. Kyle's shots looked good, he got some bad breaks also. Seemed to lose the feel for the lane at the end. That was three of my favorite athletes out in one day, Brad, Kyle and Brady. Not a good sports day, but fun! Great job guys keep up the work.

    These reaction videos are precious. It is great to hear what you have been experiencing and to get an inside view of the bowler competing in such a high-pressure environment.
    You talked about rev rate and ball speed on specto data, I have a few insights about that. Specto is unable to read the balls that are black. So, perfect example is Pitch Black. When that ball is thrown, Specto is reading it like a "black hole" traveling down the lane. It does not see the rotations on the ball, because it is not able to read the ball itself. It is the way lidar sensor works and it has a problem with dark/black one-colored balls. It reads the movement of the "missing object" and can show the path it is traveling on the lane, but the rev rate is always an estimate, not a reading, when this sort of balls are thrown. You can see the reading of the movement of such balls is not always possible, so the lines shown on the specto data can be odd looking sometimes and have a strange shape.
    Sidenote, rev-rate is always highest on the backend, and lowest of your hand, and specto is reading rev-rate on the front part of the lane.
    Keep up the good work, your content is getting better all the time! Great job, keep it up!

    • @Sypher87
      @Sypher87 Před 2 lety

      I would also think Rev Rate would be higher in the oil as there's less resistance to the ball revving. i.e if it's inside in the oil, it can rev up faster and when it's outside in the dry, the lane is fighting it revving up some.
      I would assume a similar thing for speed if it's reading it from time between 2 planes. The shorter the path it takes, the faster it will read (so something crossing the plane at an angle and/or turning would naturally lead to a longer time measured between them)
      I should probably read into those Specto machines more.

    • @igorhabljak3218
      @igorhabljak3218 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Sypher87
      Speed is measured off hand, when the ball is traveling at highest speed, you can see the speed reading instantly when the bowler releases the ball.
      The traction on the backend is contributing the ball reving up, not degrading the amount of revolutions. These two variables are opposite. The REVs go up from the foul line towards the pins, and the speed goes down.
      That's why the RPMs should always be measured of hand, and not throughout the whole lane, because the oil conditions have a large impact on the number of revolutions the ball is going to have up until the pins.
      I hope this helps.

    • @DimitrisDr3am
      @DimitrisDr3am Před rokem

      @@igorhabljak3218 how can the rev rate increase? What force is acting on it to make it increase? Doesn't make sense

    • @igorhabljak3218
      @igorhabljak3218 Před rokem

      @@DimitrisDr3am the speed of the rotation is impacted by a few factors.
      One is traction, and the other is weight block inside the bowling ball.
      Traction is the one that distributes the energy of the bowling ball differently. In the oil (less traction) the energy is not translated completely to the rotation, but is also turned into forward motion (skid). In the backlane, the dry lane is enabling the ball to "grab" the surface and turn all its energy into rotation (thus, roll).
      Weight block is the factor of rotation that does not have the same impact, because of the layout of each ball, and specific release that is unique to every player. The intention is always that it wants to return to a stable position. When will it happen, and how, is different in every layout? The more stable the starting position of the weight lock is in the release, the sooner it will go in the roll (example: short pin), and the more unstable the position (example:strong drilling, 3 1/2 pin2pap) longer (later) it is going to transition.
      That is the reason revs are increased in the later part of the bowling shot. (Storm has a great video on YT regarding that, check it out)
      You can test this out by putting tape from your PAP to the centre of your grip. Take a slow-motion video of your shot, and you can measure the REVs on each part of the lane.
      Hope this helps...
      Have a good day!

    @23:32 Rev rate is highest at the pins. Speed is highest at the release. Those are the numbers that the specto displays. Miss right, ball is slower and revs are lower (same as playing inside and shaping the shot). Pull it inside and the speed is higher causing the displayed rev rate to be higher (same as playing straight up the boards). The rev rate off the hand varies a decent amount when playing the separate lines but is drastically different at the pins because of the speed difference.

    Not sure if the guy in maroon is one of your dads but he reminds me of Captain Kangaroo. Childhood tv show back in the 70s-80s

    You're a good friend Kyle, missing the 10 pin so Brad wouldn't feel bad. Also Brad at least you didn't miss a 4 pin. =P

    I saw Keven's last shot that was brutal and cost him from making the show. I did not realize until right now that if he would have struck it would have knocked Kyle off TV. Wild!
