- Today we check out TOMATITO with the song "Rumba De La Lira". This song has a real jazzy feel while being played in the Flamenco style we have been learning so much about. Have you heard any Tomatito music before? Do you know of any artist or bands that you would suggest? Let me know what you think. Are you a fan or have you heard of the Flamenco style / genre of music?

Llove the way that flamenco musicians just seem to be having so much fun. Even when playing the sadder songs. That applies to those on guitar, those clapping and those on the cajon.
I can imagine it is because it is sure fun to listen to! even at its most basic level its mind blowing stuff without a doubt!!!
Qué bonito ver cómo disfrutas con nuestra música. Abrazos desde España
Nice to see your reaction to Tomatito. The young man playng rythm guitar is Tomatito´s own son.Tomatito is one of the greatest. In the studio recorded version of this song he had George Benson playing some electric guitar.I´m amazed by how Tomatito can switch from flamenco to jazz or latin stuff so naturally.Greetins from Spain!
Tomatito, Paco's little guitar brother
Love your reaction to Tomatito and your final remarks on the whole craft. You really dig it. A Flamenco master is like a Jedi master for Guitar playing. They have to start practicing as 4 year olds. If you are 10, you are too old to start 😆. Still, you could get to be a good one, or even a great one, like the plectrum guy in this video, but you'll never reach the likes of Tomatito, Vicente Amigo, or Paco the GOAT. Their hands and brain are wired to play the guitar at levels that made them look superhuman.
Yeah thats a very good way to put it! Trying to learn this later in life and get to this kind of skill level is quite the impossible task! Seeing this masters at work is so inspirational though and makes me look at chord progressions in my own playing a lot different. I totally agree watching the magic in their hands is more a kin to the force flowing throw them where they seemingly do the impossible effortlessly!
Music is culture, I am glad that you have good taste in music, greetings from: Alicante - Spain
Hi Tomatito is from my city ALMERÍA IN ANDALUCÍA SPAIN ,he started playing guitar when he was a child whith 2 or 3 years old,i recomended youtube a documental of tomatito playing in new york at the blue note whith the pianist michel camilo,i ll look the video and linkedin you, greetings from spain
Greetings! It is a pleasure to learn about this style and genre of music! I'm looking forward to hearing and learning more!
El Grande Tomatito!❤️
I suggest to listen the full Album Omega by Morente & Lagartija Nick, you can find several of this artist (Vicente Amigo in "La aurora de Nueva York", Tomatito in "Sacerdotes") and if a had to chose a song, it would be "Niña ahogada en un pozo". In this one the flamenco guitarist is Cañizares, (usually is a classic guitarist too)
You have to look for "el niño miguel". Some experts say he was better than paco, but he end up begging in the streets because of drugs problems. There are not many videos in YT of him because his career didnt last so much, but there are videos playing a 3 strings guitar where we can see him very affected by drugs and it's still amazing.
I'v done one about him so far, I'm looking forward to hearing more! Such a sad story for such and incredible musician!
Gran reaccion como siempre❤❤❤ abazos desde España❤
You should listen to Vicente Amigo.
One little thing: flamenco is a very niche thing: you have to know how to acompany cante (flamenco singing) dancing and master all the palos (rhythms): bulerias, seguryia, soleà, alegria, tangos, etc. Any guitarist that can't do it is not flamenco no matter hoq good they. They play another unrelated genre.
next time listing to Moraíto Chico
I loved his playing! Raw and awesome.
Grande Tomate!!!
Tomatito lo más flamenco de toda España..
Spanish folklore is out of this world. Got to spent 12 hours of daily practicing during your whole existence to reach TOMATITO´s level. Its surreal..
also check out Rumba by Jesus Guerrero.
people already mentioned Vicente Amigo, Antonio Rey is another brilliant player, Grammy awarded
for all those who dislike typical jazz, flamenco has much to offer. it incorporates the classical, jazz and ethnic traditions...
Flamingo guitar players have been born with a guitar in their hands. They begin to learn guitar since they are little children 4 or 5 years old, not much later.
@@paseospormadrid1751 Sí, es como se dice en Inglés
You must play a spanish band call El Bicho and their legendary song La Toba, they mix flamenco música witcher Many others styles please check them!!!
Bien tirada esa son unos makinas tb
Tomatito is famous for his tangos usually, but I prefer his Alegrias 'La Ardila'.

Tomatito means little tomato 🙃
Escucha a Pablo Sainz Villegas " la gran jota" alucinarán.
Thank you for the suggestion I really appreciate it, I will check that out!!!
Thanks for share the guitar culture.
It is a pleasure and I'm looking forward to learning more about it!
No mention of Paco Peña?
I will have to check him out thank you for the suggestion I really appreciate it!
But you are a littel bit wrong in something. We don´t use all our fingers of the right hand. We use all but the little. That hat an tow reasons. The first reason is because that finger is very weak and they barely have coordination, in addition to being very short. The second, if you make tremolos or "trills", which go at 3 beats between note and note, you get out of rhythm, there is one beat left over. These styles of music are always played with 4 fingers, thumb, index, heart and ring finger, if you play with two, you will lack fingers for many things, but you learn much faster than you think.
Very nice video
