The UK coverage wasn't that enthusiastic because it was Wales, if it had been England beating the Aussies 40 - 6 the media would have been doing cartwheels, it would have been headlines for a week !!
God can you imagine. I said that about the Fiji win, more tackles than any WC game in history, Flatman would've creamed his chinos.
See above.
English bias yes
Honestly I’m close to having to mute the commentary in English games, can’t wait for Fiji to pull their pants down in a quarter
Are you kidding. They had Jamie Roberts, Sam Warburton and Gareth Thomas.
George Gregan was the only one there not absolutely bouncing.
I’m just devastated. Dave Rennie’s Wallabies might not have won many games, but we were within a score of beating Ireland and France just a year ago. Eddie Jones’ Wallabies have been utterly atrocious, in almost every game this year. I’ve never seen a team self-destruct so badly
Here here, worst decision by the ARU old boys club ever!
@aj-qj4lt dead right. We supporters are reaping what the dipshits in the ARU have sown. The Eddie choice was a huge gamble, an a shit one at that. Odds on Eddie's off to Japan by the end of the year. An then what? Bernie Larkham? Who the fuck knows.
I think fans in both Oz and Wales were expecting this to be close, and that Oz would score tries. I think some of that scoreline can be put down to bad luck, but it is still shocking. You guys must all be left wondering what Rennie's Wallabies could've done in Pool C.
My team wales are not just lucky but very lucky to kick all those kicks and score them 2 tries against those Aussies we are so luck ridden to be the first team to progress to the quarterfinals i just hope our luck doesn’t get in out against those superior teams like Argentina 🏴🏴🏴🏴
Rennie was absolutely on the cusp of making Aussy great again. Trouble is most Aussies couldn’t see it. Sometimes it takes a not so good coach to come in so we can appreciate the great ones… just like what is happening with the ABs right now.
Both Wales and Australia endured significant upheaval prior to World Cup - one team has evolved, the other has regressed.
Rugby is the poor cousin in sporting Australia, even soccer is more popular now. Rugby is way behind AFL, rugby league, cricket and soccer, and it’s mainly due to the perception that Rugby is only played by private school boys and supported by rich people.
@@johnmcmanus6909in this context that still means they're at least on par with Wales in terms of state of the game
@@johnmcmanus6909 That used to be the case in South Africa too before 1994. Rugby was played by kids who attended the rich private schools but now almost every school plays the game. Don't get me wrong, soccer is still the most popular sport in South Africa but rugby is a close second and ever since 2019 more kids want to play.
Welsh rugby is in a dreadful mess from top to bottom. Over the past 20 years Wales have turned throwing away a lead in the last 5 minutes into an art form, especially versus the Wallabies, but even they would have found it hard to throw away 34 points, mind you they came close to that a few years back.
Sonny Bill on Stan telling it like it is about the Little Tassie Devil Eddie. Then, back in the Stan studio, Michael Hooper is backing Eddie saying you won't find a more hard working man like Eddie, we can't put all the blame on him. What a man, still backing Eddie after he decided not to take him to France. Shows the true character of Hooper, what a man, a true professional.
Then, when they went back on the field, Stan removed Sonny Bill and replaced him with Tim Horan. 😅
Hooper is a class act. He also criticized Foley for making a pretty arrogant tweet, insinuating he might have made the difference. 🤜
I can’t make sense of leaving a player like Michael Hooper out of a World Cup., he is a generational player, games like this he thrives in, such valuable experience & leadership.
@whiskeyboystveboks Makes little sense to me as well. It can't be because Hooper's too small. Eddie picked Curry and Underhill as his flankers in 2019. Neither of them are very big. It's probably because Hooper and Eddie had different views, and it's his way or the highway attitude. Leaving a player with that experience behind was a big mistake.
@exb254 I can understand Eddie not taking Foley because I've met him and he's exactly like his tweet....arrogant! But, leaving Hooper out was a massive mistake on the Little Tassie Devils behalf. Along with George Smith, Hooper is one of my favourite Wallabies to ever play the game.
Just got back from the stadium in Lyon. Fantastic atmosphere and Aus fans were a credit, even if their team wasn’t 🤝🏻🏴🇦🇺
Jac Morgan is an absolute unit and looked like he'd been in a war.
He looks like hes put on stone of muscle. Our pack is somethong like 930kg which is the heaviest ive seen it
Welsh language commentary was, surprise, surprise, much more positive :-)
Thank you for being one of the few to credit and give excitement to this Welsh team. Momentum is on Wales side. I feel for Australia, world rugby needs a strong Aussie team. But this Welsh team is clinical in the 22 and defensible solid. About time pundits took Cymru seriously.
They looked kind of sluggish for lengthy periods of the game 🤷 they were just playing a b-tier rugby nation.
@@Waywind420 in which periods do you feel like they were sluggish?
@@Waywind420Australia is a C tier rugby nation then hahaha 😂
Springboks beat Wales 52-16 a few weeks ago and they haven’t played a great team since
@@pontefract SA is definitely a better more consistent team. No one is arguing that. But do note SA beat a Wales C team.
Poor Wilkard. Whilst NRL and afl fans gleefully anticipate their grand finals, he’s stuck there crying in resignation as his beloved wallabies sink further and further. He’s like a person stuck in an abusive relationship you know you can’t do anything about.
Gotta say I love league and Union, had the pleaysre of seeing state of origin 2 imes in Sydney, the aussies are a crazy bunch , I do feel sorry for aussie Rugby tnight and I'm Welsh, but hey ups and downs it happens

I'm seriously worried about WildKard, I have a feeling we might not hear from him today. I hope his mum checks on him. Love WildKard, he's so passionate and entertaining.
The fact that most Kiwis are feeling sorry for the Wallabies speaks for how dire things really are.

Topping the pool with a record win against Australia coached by Eddie Jones. I bought a bottle of champagne and some charlie for this game. I was drinking straight from bottle doing railroads whilst dancing naked in the living room in the second half. Glorious day
What do you think of their chances in the quarters, semis and final? Who do you want, not want? Curious Irish fan 🇮🇪
@@lukeytron Dont think it will matter, Eng and Wales should win the 1/4 and then lose to who ever it may be in the semi
So good to see Gareth Davies playing so well. He's really established himself as one of the finest scrum halfs in the world. Great result for Wales , very much deserved
Hard to believe that really happened. Majestic perfrmance by Anscombe playing only his second game for months
Congrats Wales from a wallaby supporter.
Try not to be too down for too long. Your team is sure to bounce back. Well done to Wales though.
Cheers mate, commiserations you will be back I don’t doubt it for a second!
Spot on Mark, all I could think about was Quade Cooper, Michael Hooper etc sitting at home trying to watch it.
Congratulations to Wales on a well deserved victory. I have to say it's really sad to see what's become of Australian rugby union. A once great rugby nation who are continuing to decline rapidly, it's worrying and so sad to see. I hope one day they will rise again, rugby needs a strong Australian team. Once again well done Wales.
Oz will be back. Too much sporting heritage, too many athletes. Just needs a system overhaul like Ireland did.
@@gwynevans6440no they wont😂😂😂

@crw45able the British and Irish Lions tour Australia in 2 years. Its going to be ugly for Australia
I appreciate your videos, fair to Wales (i've been surprised how Irish TV panel is so anti-Wales in this world cup and English-based supposedly British media rarely have much interest or enthusiasm for Wales). Thank you.
Great review. Thank you for calling out the lack of positive energyvfor Wales. Your views are, as ever objective and spot on. ❤
Thank you for the admiration for the Welsh. Great analysis!
ITV hate us Welsh and anyone who’s not part of Englands World Cup win, appreciate you looking us up to try getting the vibes though ❤️😂
Thought Kerevi was awful. Donaldson, Kellaway and Hooper too.
Wales mighty impressive across the board. Tompkins, Morgan and Davies' link-up for the opening try really set the quality of the Wales performance to come.
I am absolutely estatic. Brilliant Wales, couldn't have dreamed of this
For the Australians here, good luck and above all, don't give up!!!
You know France went through this a few years ago. Our level of play was really bad and look now. You can greatly improve your game within 4 years, for the world Cup in Australia at home, starting with the change of coach. Good luck to australian friends from a french. You will come back stronger. 💪🏻 🇦🇺🇫🇷
France didnt fall this low and France has always had a strong domestic league.
The Australian problem is much bigger and far deeper.

It's because Fiji are a Tier 2 nation in classification still and Australia have basically regressed to one too.
Yeah, ITV is so English and England centric it’s crazy. Even with 2 Welsh commentators I’m sure they’re told to keep the praise of anything outside of Marcus Smith and England to a minimum.
You want to work on UK TV? Big up England. O'Dricoll did it, Warburton did it, I saw newly retired Stewart Hogg on his first day on TNT sports telling Ugo he thinks England will win the World Cup...He knows who's paying his salary!

I said they’re told to keep the praise of anything other than Marcus Smith and England to a minimum… because ITV are so England centric in general
ITV has a big English bias. There's only one team they want to see do well. If you want enthusiasm for Wales, try to find S4C coverage. It's Welsh language, but you'll get the vibes.
Was the lead commentator Johnnie Hammond? I think it was him. He never sounds excited and says stupid things constantly like ask his co-commentator "what do Australia need to do after this to get through to the quarter finals?" Crazy question!
So much English bias they had Gareth Thomas and Sam Warbuton in the studio, with Jamie Roberts pitchside and Shane Williams in the box.

In the lineout Aus lost after turning down a shot at goal when it was 10-6, Leota tripped over the lifter during the pre-jump dance, preventing them from putting a man in the air.
If that doesn't encapsulate Eddie Jones' Australia I don't know what does.
That was the catalyst for a total collapse. They immediately conceded then 3 at the other end. Their brains had been overworked. All tits up from there.
Aussie rugby is not strong atm but changing from Rennie to Jones a few months out makes them look worse. I thought they were slowly improving under Rennie but all that was thrown out. Good on Wales that was clinical and ruthless, looked like they were just having a good time at the end.
Dude us Welsh can say the thing
Totally agree, and Eddie was planning to move anyway.
They should have allowed Rennie to complete his cycle. Its the coaching gods come to fcuk over australia's rugby administration 😂

The Welsh got a new coach 3 times in one year, you’ll bounce back may take a while but you will!
Wales lost to Georgia and Italy not more than a year ago so I’m just happy to see the Welsh competing again. I’m a proud man
Argentina (probably) is going to have their hands full with Wales in the quarters.
As a welsh man I'm amazing
I'm Welsh and even though I thought we were very good and controlled the game I was absolutely stunned by how bad the wallabies were. I'm used to them doing comebacks against us when we are ahead but instead it was a calamity of errors like kicking the ball dead, throwing it into touch and kicking the ball directly up in the air on the 22 and giving a penalty away.
Agree, was obvious the Wallaby youngsters lacked leadership & experience. This year they've kept trying to win by individual effort not team effort. But the problems are decades old, going well beyond just the coach. Great turn around by Wales, top of the pool.
I remember wales and our WRU was a mess, it still is but we're healing and heading in the right direction. So it's all for the best and hopefully Australia get on the right track and compete again soon.
Don't forget the 50 22 from Wales was kicked by the 7.
We don't need love, we believe in ourselves 🏴
Great win by Wales! Australia came on the field leaderless and it showed. Forwards work hard for position, they deserve to see points. I hope this has converted some of Wales to support their team and Gats! They deserve it! ITV is still english and Wales, Ireland and Scotland are The Colonies!
The absence of Captain Will Skelton & prop Tupou definitely shows since both were injured after the Georgia game. Aussie looked absolutely hopeless and unmotivated out there.
@@risingsun2677 Strange news, very inconsistent about Skelton and their inspirational leader Michael Hooper. Quaid Cooper also. They had no leader out there and made poor decisions about penalties and in the flow of the game.

It’s not Wales’ fault that Australia didn’t turn up. You can play what’s in front of you.
As an Englishmen, very sad for Oz but you can see the development plan aimed at getting them primed for 27 WC.
All the same, very good to see Gareth Anscombe come back from that horrendous knee injury at Twicks in 19.
The humanity in me feels sorry for Australia. World Rugby and SH rugby need a strong Australia and tonight they were anything but.
Was that Welsh pressure or just a poor Aus? I find hard to process that Portugal pushed Wales harder than Australia!
I loved Wales' variation in attack and lineouts. Loved both Gareths performances. Great to see Wales have some quality in these positions.
Very happy for Wales to be in QFs and let's hope they make the semis!!
Wales second half were epic!
Australia rugby started their own downfall with the Israel Folau sacking. Then sacking Rennie shortly before a World Cup was a weird one. Eddie Jones playing a group of kids with no mix of experience leaving out quality players like Hooper and Foley. Bizarre
This Welsh team are improving at a rate of knots.
Should have lost to Fiji. Smashed the Aussie under 21s let’s not get carried away. Also easy draw. An awful pumas side in the qf. The luck continues. Do nothing for 3/4 years and get all the rewards

CMMMMOOOOOONNNNNNN - first time I’ve seen a complete welsh performance since the last World Cup warren gatland a genius
Very sad on a lot of fronts. I've always hated it when the AB's lose to Aussie - but I think that's because we're neighbours and have that type of relationship. But to see the Wallabies sink to this new low is sad. I feel for the young players in the squad who have had their confidence smashed, I feel for the older players they left behind who probably feel they could have made a difference, and I feel for the fans. I think Eddie got it wrong this time - and he'll probably pay the price. Thought the team were building nicely under Dave Renny despite the results - it was a bad decision to dump him so close to the RWC. Happy for Wales though. Just my two cents.
Thank you bro
Eddie seemed to know he would not last, reports he had a job interview for the Japan job just before the RWC started 😳

Australia union rugby is a corpse and Fiji are still classified as a tier 2 nation although improving. Easy group.
@@doodah2074 It's not all of a sudden, they've been absolutely dire for a decade now. They have had a few coaches paper over cracks and make them play above their station, but the coaching and development in their player pipeline just isn't there. Fiji are literally classified as Tier 2 also. The top 5 nation in rugby today are on the other side of the brackets and you won't meet any of them until the semis. You've a free path to semis essentially.
Nothing gifted about it, Wales were clinical and pounced when the opportunity was given. Anscombe applied the pressure with the kicks, well overdue after his unfortunate injury in 2019

You've no stat for heart or will to win, it was the most striking difference between the two teams today.
I imagine the Quantas plane was parked right outside the stadium on standby.
Wales outplayed and outpassioned the Wallabies today. Soon it will be a distant memory, like when Japan beat SA 2015 and Wales 2019. Plenty of Drama in this World Cup still to come. Thanks for a great channel.

Thanks as always Mark, you're brilliant at showing how the stats relate to the flow of the game. I wasn't surprised at the result at all, I thought Gats would bring a clinical approach which would be too much for an Aussie team which lacks composure. Wales a good chance for the semis now and good on them. As a Kiwi I think this all just shows that we've got real problems building the strong Pacific tournament we need for the ABs to benefit. Don't know what the answer is but if you look at last weekend's NRL and AFL crowds, entertainment, just the whole vibe in those playoff games then it's easy to see Union is a long way off the pace in Australia.

Sacking Rennie and bringing in Jones when they did was sold as putting the Wallabies on track for RWC glory. For them to then fail in the pools so ineptly the fault doesn't just stop with Jones, but with the entire decision making of appointing him when they did. The focus is on the players and coach right now but there needs to be serious questions at RA head office and people in senior positions. Things have to change.
I think ARU thought he was trying to get far in this WCup with the favourable draw they didn't know he was starting from scratch in a build at a WCup recipe for disaster it was !
Awesome breakdown cuz!
Great WC shows how tough a grand slam is , IRE WALES SCO looking very sharp. ENG not as hot but still a clear vision to quarters too. Brilliant then france. What a group not forgetting italy
im afraid wales will never get the credit for a superb dominant performance especially off english dominated media that have no real interest in our success -it would be like new zealand being in charge of your media in australia it would be applause with gritted teeth.
I don't think that's quite fair. It's the British media, not the English media, there are plenty of Welsh voices in there. For this match specifically, I suspect that ITV thought viewers would want to see an Eddie Jones meltdown - I mean, didn't you want to see that too?
I met Warren Gatland last year, in the lounge bar at Albany stadium during a North Harbour v Tasman game in the NPC (Bryn Gatland was NH's starting 10, and won the game for them that day). He came across as shy, modest, friendly and a bit uncomfortable about being recognized. In other words, a complete contrast to Eddie Jones, whose cultivated panto-villian persona and shit-stirring oneliners have always seemed desperate for the limelight. With both men having been parachuted into misfiring versions of their former teams, the relative contrast in their fortunes is stark. Like the team he coaches, Gatland gets little love here in NZ (certainly his time here with the B&I Lions and lacklustre return to Super Rugby with the Chiefs won him few admirers) but he deserves credit for getting Wales back on track, and his record against the supposed Super Coach (Jones) ought to prove that there's merit in his Warrenball madness after all.
Both teams are in the quarter final....Wait till you have met Eddy in a bar.
Australia might’ve stayed in the game if they kept Slipper on for longer. We instantly gained dominance when he came off and that’s what changed the momentum in that second half
Yeah just dropped in the ass second half they just didn't seem pumped that second when the game was in the balance then.Shocker man !!!
I can't believe how well Wales dominated and how poorly Australia played. I'm absolutely over the moon about Wales, but I was really expecting more of a game
That was some 2019 vintage Anscombe. Bossing the game, and demolishing the opposition.
The Wallabies were lost. I can’t remember a team making so many unforced errors. They handed Wales the game on a silver platter.
I realize, that everyone enjoys bagging Eddie right now, and he’s fully responsible for the nomination, but this match was lost by the players on the field and their atrocious discipline.
There was no doubt in my mind Gatland's Wales would win this. They always show up on the big stage

We all know Jones will get the most complaints for the Australian performance but the players should also take some account. There were some shocking kicks and general play from the players tonight
Jones picked the players. Jones picked the squad. In picking the squad, Jones dumped numerous good Wallabies.
If Rugby Australia don't immediately sack Jones (and I'm not talking about after a "review" (which will not address who decided to fire Dave Rennie and hire Jones)), then RA have signed a collective suicide note...
Lets not forget its awesome for Fiji as well to get second in the pool.
Obvious the dramatic changes instigated by EJ have backfired, sure bring young fellas on but within a solid framework of proven senior players. Clearly the oopers were needed for the transition to the new future.

ITV is more Welsh and everything else - than English. Same with the BBC. Being English isn’t politically correct. Your comment reflect that.
In your own we little mind maybe.
@@allanokeeffe9499 He is only interested in his tiny narrative, I wish a few of them would get independence sorted. They may hate us less.
I think that if Biggar didn t got off with that injury, the game could have been better for the wallabies. But Anscombe was in a great day.
Well played Wales, not so well Australia.
Thanks!
You bet! Cheers!
Man, you’re quick uploading these!
But… ITV are English. So no support there. Should have turned on S4C. 😂 Really pulling for Fiji to come through as well! 🏴🇫🇯
Even if Wales beat England by 50, ITV would celebrate an English try as if they won the world cup. It's ridiculous
😂😂😂😂😂 "Hey, Eddie! Tell us more about your Datsun."
As a welsh man what a win diawn boys
Oh l have stayed up waiting for this mate! Tell Tony he can take his Southern Hemishere bias and shove it where his Warrior's are in the pan😂
Sorry Tony your a decent bloke but Cymru Am Byth! Love you both❤💋 Yes I am dancing it was too easy😂😂
This is the recession Australian Rugby had to have.
The changes that need to happen are a much bigger chance of happening now that this has happened.
As long as Union has to compete with League and Aussie rules for talent, Australian Rugby Union will always have a problem!
All true.
But not new issues and not unforeseeable.
Two things we can do.
1. Cut the Rebels and the Force.
2. Sack the majority of the blazer brigade 'running the show'
Hooper and Quade are having a beer somewhere with a "I told you so" look on their faces.
I gave up with ITV last weekend. S4C was a great broadcast, fun, funny and they had Sonny Bill and Tim Horan on too. ITV is just boring man.
Agree you should have switch over to Welsh commentary on S4C for the cock-a-hooping, not the restrained English tv
Aus were very poor and Wales were good. Not brilliant, just good. That’s about the sum of it.
We did what we had to do really and went about it very professionally and efficiently. It was nice to see our lineout actually function.
As for Aus; there’s a lot to sort out. But they’ll be a different animal on home turf in four years.
The fairly formulaic sideways and slow recycling of possession style Australia favour suited Wales' defence perfectly.
The moment Kerevi's attempts to break the line didn't come of, Australia looked clueless. And like they didn't trust Donaldson to do off the cuff stuff either.
Aussie rugby will be back by 2027. Young players will need a system that nurtures them through while respecting veteran players.
Good on Wales, a great rugby nation in its own right. I suspect the ABs will be going home after the quarter final against Ireland, but we'll see.
Oh,hold on, don't you know that the world will end in 2027? 😅😅😅 so where the fk we were going to play? 😅😅😅😅
There is a massive prejudice against the Welsh in rugby union circles. Always viewed as lovable idiots, and this game proved it. Aussie we’re thumped, but Wales got very little air time in all the post match reviews.
Wales very very very lucky. Lucky to be in the easy side of the draw. Lucky against Fiji. Probably end up in another semi where ye will be beaten by any side from pool A or B
@@djharto4917 Wales in group of death in 2015. Beat England in Twickenham. Lucky. In 1/4 in 2019, Wales lucky to sneak through against France. In semi in 2019, SA scraped past Wales by 3 points. Same SA team, only a week later, destroyed England in final. But nobody likes to talk about the fact that SA nearly lost the week before to “lucky” Wales (it wasn’t a pretty match, but SA were wobbly at times). In 2023, Wales are so lucky that they end up in a pool with Fiji (who beat England senseless in a warm up about a month ago) and Australia, who most tipped to dispatch of everyone in the group and go far in WC. Wales, again, were lucky to beat Fiji. Wales were lucky to get through against Portugal, and really showed how average they were by not scoring more points. And this week, Wales put 40 on Australia, again, because of luck. My real point is, Wales are the go to team to be palmed off as lucky second raters, and Wales doing well, ultimately, amounts to subversion against the platitude merchants, and there is no shortage of those in rugby union.
No we would go through whatever pool we were in, assuming they redid the draw based on more recent standings. There are only 3 teams out there I think would beat us at the moment, that's France, Ireland and South Africa. I think New Zealand and England are 50/50 maybe even in our favour. So this supposed luck we've had would not make a huge difference. P.S we beat Fiji fair and square as well butty.
No if an honest ref had ye against Fiji you would not have won. Also if you lot changed places with either Scotland or Italy you would also be dumped out in group or definitely qf
@@djharto4917 if, if, if, if, if, if, if.
You gonna have a lot of ifs stacked up for Wales before the end of this year.
2cents . Bang on the money as usual. Unbiased breakdown of each game on its own merits 👍 . Spot on with the ITV punditry and people wonder why we as Welshmen have no time when it comes to any rugger tournament that the “ narrow backs “
Never ever give us any respect. They’d rather heap praise on a team that we’ve just given a shoeing to and put it down to “ wales was lucky “ 😡😡😡 . This is a major reason why the Welsh dislike the “ narrow backs “ , yet we embrace a defeat with good grace , simples . Rant over 2cents 😂😂😂. Take care bro 💪❤️🏴🏆🏴🏆🏴🏆 . Diolch yn fawr iwan. Dave Uk
