  • From having to dig ourselves out of the snow in the dark, to sharing our favorite camp gear in a subtle way and camping in a beautiful old growth forest by a river. This adventure was a perfect way to start off our first winter camping trip of the season! We hope you enjoy! We're Jason and Denise and one of our absolute favorite things to do is explore the Pacific Northwest in our Land Cruiser 200 Series and our teardrop camper "Finn"
    The Pacific Northwest has so much beauty around every turn and we're always blown away with what she has to show us.

    Great to see you all getting out in the snow! I had to laugh, though, about the "stuck in the snow" part. That happened to us a few years ago though it was at a time of year when we didn't expect any snow and weren't prepared. It took us 3 hours and the help of some other folks to dig out. It was immediately after that when we started carrying MaxTrax and a shovel! And we learned that snow is like water except that you can't see through it. And if you get up on top of wet snow like that it compresses and makes you high centered. Ugh! It looks like you may have camped somewhere along the McKenzie. Awesome. And Sahale Falls is always impressive! (Though the mist freezing on the steps, well, you now. NanoSpikes can help!).

      Yeah. We were not expecting the snow to be that deep this early in the year, plus it was dark and we couldn’t really tell how deep it was going to get. So glad we carry that rescue/recovery gear.
      Yep, you guessed it, McKenzie river. There are so many cool trails to explore around there.

    Nice adventure and loved the campsite you found! Getting unstuck from that snow seemed like a chore but you all seemed to be in good spirits. :-) LOVE my Mr. Heater Buddy, couldn't do winter camping without it. Meals looked tasty!!

      Thanks!!! We’ll have a new video up probably tomorrow.
      The make and model is Aero Teardrops out of Portland Oregon and the model is Finn.
      We love our teardrop, it’s definitely been a game changer when it comes to camping.

    That looked like a really fun adventure! I had no idea the tear drop had a couch & table! Too bad the lukewarm springs wasn't a hot springs! Are there others that maybe warmer around the area? I love you both...Mom :o)

    • @CoasttoCascadia
      @CoasttoCascadia  Před 3 lety

      There are actually quite a few around there. One was closed due to Covid and the other that we know of don’t welcome dogs :( Oregon has tons of hot springs so I’m sure we won’t have issues finding another one. Love you too!

    Great video guys! I'm always torn b/t opening or not opening my awning. I'm curious what your reasoning is at 28 degrees since any sunshine you'd certainly welcome. Perhaps with the expectation of rain? Thanks. Keep up the great work.

    • @CoasttoCascadia
      @CoasttoCascadia  Před 3 lety

      Hey! Yeah. There was some rain in the forecast so we did it to keep the ground as dry as possible if it were to rain. Thanks for watching and thanks for the great compliment. 🤗

      @@Mannix007 I often put mine out in cold weather even when there's no precipitation. It definitely makes a slightly warmer feeling spot to be outside with less air moving over you. On the flip side, messing around with the awning when it's below freezing isn't a lot of fun for the fingers, LOL. :-)

    Being so used to old 4x4s without electronic control, watching this is painful. Every time I get in snow or mud with newer vehicles, I spend more time fighting the vehicle than the terrain. It sounded like your truck was cutting power. Sometimes you can trick it with the E-brake. And get a spare blade and oregon chain file kit. Looks like you had fun all considered.

    • @CoasttoCascadia
      @CoasttoCascadia  Před 3 lety

      There are so many options on this truck that we could have used. We used the first one, which is for mud, it seemed to have helped. I’m sure there probably was still a better way. And you’re right, it was fun for sure! Thanks for watching, we truly appreciate it. 🤗
