    I liked the comment about Larry wanting his horses to love him like a dog loves their owner. Thanks Callie for your wonderful video's!

    I watched this about a year ago, and was inspired by it. I am happy to report that today my horse acts really happy to see me! He's friendly and cooperative, much safer to be with, and so much fun! Thank you for this video.

    I must say as a woman that is learning how to ride my TWH, finding someone that teaches aides and seat are really hard to find. I have met people that teach but they conflict each other. Trying to learn from your videos and Callie also. Thank you for your videos both of you

    I LOVE THIS!! Larry has what it takes to help any breed of horse. I LOVE how explains the proper movement is what that horse can do with out hurting their joints.

    My walker is a joy to ride. My friend rides her 16 hand fella in a nice big trot and I asked for a bit faster movement and away we went. My friend was amazed at what it looked like with my mare doing a nice running walk. My mare had a lot more go but it wasn’t needed so we just had a nice, smooth ride while my friend was posting next to us.
    The fastest and most exciting ride was next to an endurance rider on his Arab. The guy was posting like mad on a fast extended trot while I was sitting there just flying down the old logging road.
    We mostly just trail ride on a nice head bobbing loose rein. My mare and my dog enjoy being out on the trail, seeing different terrain at whatever pace is right for the moment.

    I ride my standardbred in both trot and four-beat gait. It really is the same basics and it's very possible to teach the horse different aids for gait and trot, just like for trot and canter..without pulling at their face or ventroflexing for gait. I really appreciate to see I'm not alone with these thoughts of gaiting through dressage.. I never trained for a gaited trainer but had a very good and open minded classical trainer and my horse offered a gait even though I didn't know he was gaited. (they are usually made to trot here.)

      I got one Paso Fino filly when she was very green and started another myself, and neither one wanted to gait at first. But I stuck to basic work that I would do with any young horse, and the results were fantastic.
      I also have a gelding who gaited perfectly from the time I first met him (age 2 1/2), but he was also extremely jumpy and high-strung, and he actually had a ewe neck. A 2 1/2 year old with a EWE NECK: I didn't know it was possible to mess a horse up so fast. I'm pretty sure his trainer DID NOT use classical training to develop his gait naturally.

      @@ponygirl6258 Sorry for the dumb question, and for asking so late, but what is a ewe neck?

    • @ponygirl6258
      @ponygirl6258 Před 23 dny

      @@cattymajiv A ewe neck is concave (has a dip) where it should be convex (arched, curved). It often comes from bad riding that forces the horse to carry itself incorrectly to compensate for lack of muscle and/or training. Google it, there are lots of articles and videos about what it is and what you can do about it.

    What would happen if you switched paper work and had a good blood QH trained in gaiter dis , they and many other breeds are very athletic??! If the paper was there you’d never know !??

    • @elkins4406
      @elkins4406 Před 9 měsíci

      Horses can only learn ambling gaits if they have a specific genetic marker. The QH bloodlines don't carry that particular genetic variation, so unless your Quarter Horse happened to have spontaneously developed that mutation on its own, it wouldn't be able to learn an ambling gait. It's not just a matter of athleticism or training; the genetic proclivity has to be there as well.

    It's a simple question that no one will answer simply. What is a gated horse?

    • @elkins4406
      @elkins4406 Před 9 měsíci +2

      Gaited horses have a genetic mutation which enables them to do various gaits known as "ambling gaits." They're four beat gaits, like the walk, but much faster. So instead of the trot or the pace as the intermediate gait, instead you'll have a rack, or a running walk, or a foxtrot -- all of them smooth four-beat gaits and therefore far more comfortable for a rider than the bumpier two-beat gaits like the trot or the pace.

      @@elkins4406 It's really too bad they never replied to your answer, to say whether or not they understood. Because I already know what a gaited horse is, I can't judge your answer. I find the answer might not be clear enough, because it makes no sense to me, but I don't intend any criticism of you, because you tried, where I would be totally lost to provide any answer at all! So kudos to you for having been able to provide much more info than I would be able to do!
