Indeed, we evangelicals want grace and mercy and prosperity for ourselves, sure we don´t care for the "pagans" and none protestants unless they "convert" and adopt western values and become American dreamers. But, when theology points its finger to our sins, crimes, vanity, racism, and love of money we feel angry to be cursed and damned. We are very happy as long as we are the oppressor and the ruling empire.

Each human has a blind spot (at least one), & this is one reason for the richness of the community of the God-begotten. One of your blind spots is revealed in your usage of "you people" to address blacks. Do you recognize the condescension? American Christians tend to paint Jesus in their own image, and this perspective is often that of the empire rather than of the Kingdom, of the retaliator rather than the long-suffering. "Let this mind be in you..." Bless U

He is abslutely correct for calling out the sin of racism in this country. The bible DOES NOT ENDORSE RACISM, BUT CONDEMNS IT. People should read th bible and Wake the heck up.

Liberation theology calls to wake some very good aspects that church at large has ignored, that is the present suffering. So much of church deals with just the spiritual life (acknowledging its crucial importance) nonetheless we CAN NOT keep ignoring certain issues (In terms of constructing a theology that can speak to these issues) Liberation theology does that.

"I write a comment speaking on sin and depravity of all men and all you can do is go back to race."
And I quote: "YOU PEOPLE better wake up from this attitude that somehow being oppressed because of THE COLOR OF YOUR SKIN..."
Were you speaking to some other "you people?"
Wright's only point was that those who haven't suffered as the lowest are often unable to empathize with the lowest; thus, they lack the perspective of the Biblical writers, who were from a hated minority.

Black theology seems to me to be as racist as any man in a sheet. Jesus came to deliver us from the bondage of SIN, not color of our skins or the way other men treat us. It had to do with God's kingdom vs the world system or satan's kingdom. Jesus wanted to open our eyes & hearts to walking in light (goodness, righteousness, holiness) & not walk in darkness (hatred, evil, selfishness, lusts). We are to be overcomer's of the flesh & world. We are not the containers that hold us here. (con't)

@daming209 As a person who doesn't believe in god whatsoever, I find Liberation Theology to have great utility because it dedicates a lot of it's focus on material problems instead of spiritual problems - I think because of it's analysis of real world issues, it promotes education, and somewhat keeps people from the pitfalls of many other religious denominations that focus on figures, icons, and idols instead of class, poverty, and history (outside of religious books).

Currently and all the while - Denial of relevance or racism's atrocity's results through "Well, we've ALL suffered. What makes your race's suffering so special?"
The contempt and redirection..."Well, other people suffered too..." or "I can't pay for what my forefather's did..."
