- Launching their Alpha Zulu tour at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, Minn., on Tuesday, Sept. 6, French indie-pop band Phoenix visited The Current studio to perform a set of songs - including the title track and "Tonight," the second track to be released from the new album, "Alpha Zulu," which is scheduled for full release on November 4. Phoenix also played a longtime favorite from their back catalogue. Watch all three performances above.

Fun fact: It’s Never Been Like That has been said in interviews back in 2006 to have taken HUGE inspiration from The Strokes sound as well as Thomas Mars being a huge fan of them.

What I once thought were strong points in this band, which was vocals and the drums have now wore out their welcome, they are not only boring and predictable, but they’re all so irritating.

I'm sorry, the chorus for Alpha Zulu is maybe worst part of any Phoenix song they've written. Not to be a hater, don't get me wrong I love this band. The first time I heard it on the radio I though "what is this terrible Phoenix rip off band?"
