  • Samhain is the final harvest festival, a pagan fire festival and Wiccan sabbat that falls on or near October 31 in the northern hemisphere (depending on which tradition you follow). This is the cross-quarter day when the veil between our world and the Otherworld is the thinnest. This holiday is a forerunner of our modern Halloween and shares many of the same themes and symbols. For many traditions, Samhain is also the end of the old year and the start of the new.
I used the time spent creating this image to remember those who have come before me, and to reflect on everything that has happened in the past year. Tell me in the comments how you are celebrating the final harvest festival!

I love it. It really makes me regret not taking art classes when I was in school.

The great thing about art is that you can start whenever and wherever you are! And the best way to do that is to jump in the middle and do whatever you find engaging. It's skill based, so it _will_ take practice to get to the point where you're happy with your own drawings or paintings, but the best way to gain a skill is by doing. I would encourage you to give it a try if it's something you're interested in.
