I visited both areas when I was in Houston. Both are very nice areas to live. I think you can't go wrong with either one. I say just pick the one that is closer to your job but both are really nice and very good areas.
How do you feel the woodlands is for a person of color? I keep seeing how it's extra safe. To me that sounds like I'd get harassed for being in their neighborhood
If you work on the south side move to Sugarland, if you work on the north move to the Woodlands. If you work downtown take your pick. Or move to Pearland or Katy.
Are You a "A Representative of the Woodlands" if not, you should be. Your words present our Home in the Woodlands wonderfully. You also do justice to Sugurland. Great writing. I am very happy to have lived in the Woodlands for 28 years!
Being a Houstonian and traveling to both places for personal or business reasons, the two suburban areas are amazing. Sugar Land has always been the more popular choice since the 1990s and more diverse in ethnic groups. Property taxes are lower in The Woodlands - Montgomery County, than Sugar Land - Fort Bend County. Sugar Land is closer to Houston than The Woodlands. I-45 commute to downtown Houston from The Woodlands is far worst than US-59 commute from Sugar Land. Sugar Land's population is over a quarter million people compared to 115,000 people in The Woodlands. The Woodlands tends to get more rain and severe storms than Sugar Land and cooler in the winter season. There are more corporate jobs, hospitals, and entertainment offered in Sugar Land than The Woodlands. The Woodlands is your place if you want more of a nature rural feel, while Sugar Land has a more urban presence. Traffic is worst in Sugar Land than The Woodlands. Sugar Land has more affordable housing for Asians, Blacks, Indians, Middle Easterns, and Latinos. Me personally, I have met more friendly and down to earth people in Sugar Land. The Woodlands has more snobbish and bougie people. Both places are good to raise a family.
Depends on which part of Spring. The northern part of Spring (closer to Woodlands) is very nice. Spring is a huge area. Some parts of it further south are not as nice. My parents are in Auburn Lakes, which is in the northern part of Spring. It's a very nice neighborhood, and pretty dang close to The Woodlands.
Glad you said this. I was tossing these two areas up. Relocating from Chocolate City (DC suburb), I still want to see Brown... Brown affluency is important!
@@abrahamjackson6019 why? I'm from Kazakhstan and I'm just curious. I would do the same, because I just adore Spanish language and I can speak it, and besides I like African American culture, what's your reason?
@batonbeauty: Surprisingly, Sugar Land has no ghettos..the demographic percentages are *roughly* 25-40% white/european-types, 15% south asian-types, 10-20% black/african-types, 15% middle-eastern/north african-types, 10-15% mestizo/hispanic-types, & 15-20% east asian-types, sprinkled with other immigrants from almost everywhere.. just a rough guess based on the years I've lived here. Sugar Land, TX is a fairly large, mostly & broadly middle-class, suburb of Houston with a nice city-center (Town Square) for people watching, listening or dancing to live music, watching outdoor films, or for just taking walks and getting ice cream. The city has many artificial but pretty ponds everywhere, lots of good medical facilities (it's considered a second Medical Center in the Houston metropolitan area), and nice chain stores, boutiques, supermarkets, restaurants, and tree-lined neighborhoods.. it's also about an hour's drive from the beaches and NASA, less than 45 minutes from Hobby Airport, and 30 minutes (off-peak hours) from downtown Houston, the Medical Center, Montrose, the zoo and Hermann Park, and many good universities. Even the freeway is lined with trees and greenery.

You’re a fucking idiot. Stay where you are if you don’t want to live somewhere safe.
Wich one flood the worst when there are raining storms?

Great video, don't forget Splashtown is close to The Woodlands
Thanks for this comparison I'm moving from the Chicago area and love the greenery found in the woodland where as w sugarland it's lost.
Did you move ? Lol
beautiful
I live in The Woodlands
The Woodlands looks nice, both look nice but personally I wouldn't live in a master planned community cause most of those have high ass HOA fees
I’m in Spring right down the road. North Houston is more beautiful. I love The Woodlands!

Sugarland = new money, posh, diverse suburb (think Orange County, CA)
The Woodlands = old money, primarily white enclave (think Westport, Connecticut)

Sugar Land has more brown people than the Woodlands, and I like that.
NYer79 my wife and I are relocating to the Woodlands or Sugarland it was highly debated. Sugarland wins the argument, more people of color...
