I've always wondered why the Angevin Empire isn't a creatable empire in CK3. I feel like it would fit right in there.
Yeah! i guess its not a real empire, but would be a really cool nice addition or people to go for!
Possible because it would wreck the borders of the Francia Empire.
Though I can see it happen in a way similar to the North Sea Empire, in where it has to control a certain amount of land for a number of years.
If you create a hybrid culture between the English and French the default name is Angevin, so I guess that's how they incorporate it
@@SnapStrategy they should absolutely at least add a decision like Avenging Tours that makes the Angevin Holdings De Jure part of England IMO
There is an issue that the Angevin Empire was more a collection of realms than it was a single one. It’s hard to represent in game the fact the Plantagenets were still vassals of the King of France in their French holdings. In a similar way to the fact there is no unified ‘Spain’ until 1707, and it’s a retroactive description applied largely by historians before then, there was no Angevin Empire as such ever
Alexia is a great first spouse at the 1066 start date. She's always available and with good traits from two groups she's a good start to any Eugenics program.
It’s actually fitting that you keep the capital in Anjou as the Plantagenets famously preferred to be buried in anjou or Aquitaine.

Not really, the Capetian and Robertian arent the parent house of the Plantagenet. They're a baron family in 1066. They rise to power at 1100 I guess before one of them married the queen of england or smth

Fun history fact. Everyone, including yourself, believes it was called the angivan empire because the rulers were from anjou. While this is still true, it's actually because angivan(pronounced ang, ee, van where the "ang" is pronounced like angus beef)was the French way to say anglican or English empire because the ruling family was from England.

I think it'd be fun to see you do a game where you just always choose the worst possible option for every random event and see how difficult you can make things, basically like a cursed dynasty.

Well, the "angevin empire" was not realy an empire, so... plus I guess it would have been more difficult to see it collapse like it did in real life if it was an empire in CK3^^
The Angevin "Empire" was never actually an empire, the only recognised emperor in western Europe was the Holy Roman Emperor
I guess it depends on what counts as an empire. It wasn't formally declared as one, but it was a state which governed over several kingdoms, or at least lands which were previously ruled as kingdoms.
It's probably more of an empire than some which we recognise as empires.
It's all semantics. The rulers of the British Empire never called themselves emperors.

The AI of that game never ceases to disappoint at time. All that work and wht they had going for them near the end, only to evaporate not long after.
Honestly it didn't have a good foundation. Neither did the Mongol Empire in real life. I'd say cause the game is a pretty good simulation rather than the AI being bad.

This is the first time I have heard someone pronounce "Hwicce" like "wise". It should be pronounced more like "witch" because of the double c. In modern English spelling it'd probably be spelled something like "Whitche"
I love how the Capets (If they're still the ruling house) just kept quiet througout the whole period and only after you handed it to the AI did they decide to finally make a move.

The Count of Tours' (whose realm neighbours Anjou) descendants, a couple generations later, was the founder of the Plantagenet dynasty, you should've started as the Count there and murdered your brother to inherit Anjou, and then work forward from there.

Anjou essentially was the capital of the Angevin Empire for the small part of Richard I's reign he spent actually in his empire

Someone Angevin is someone that lives in Anjou. So you have to keep your capital in Anjou for it to be consistant, which is interesting.

Nooooooo, shouldve create a cadet branch of the robertian dynasty. Yes the plantagenet doesnt came from the capetian but from a mere baron family that married the future queen of england. But still, there are only three Angevin dynasties. The Capetian houses, their parent house of Robertian, and the Plantagenet
My understanding is that they were of House Anjou and the Plantagenet name was just a nickname really
I saw the AI form a beefed up version of this empire once, except they controlled all of the British Isles and all of France.

idk if the ai develops their land but that couldve been why england was making so much. you should choose a capital and develop it endlessly for the whole game. overtime your income will get much higher.

Of course it instantly collapsed, your character was 69 when you started observing and none of your culture spread. There was probably an instant faction that shattered the empire. Should've waited and done the hybrid culture and let it spread to a few counties first
Boy there are some miserable moaning meanies on here. If you don’t like the videos;, go elsewhere, no one is forcing you to watch Snapdragon. Note - he said at the beginning of the video he can’t actual make the Angevin Empire but we know what it contains. As for character choice, why not create your own. Are you telling me that a game simulating history a 1000 years old is going to recreate accurate traits in a historical character. Don’t make me laugh.
