DRT71 I knew where two were one was complete with a thrown rod and the other missing a powerhead. Both overall in nice shape stored inside. Unfortunately they were scrapped before we had the chance to buy them.
I remember when OMC starting producing these V8 2 stroke engines. At the time, I had a 1976 115. As great as that engine was, it loved fuel. I remember thinking you'd need a lot of gas to keep these V8's happy. Yes......they were dirty dirty engines back then. But man I miss them!

Swirl tornado uniflow scavenging. Your small block lop charged mnd my johnson v8 looper works like the sun! if you goole a video of out sun what do you see giant loops of plasma charged particles getting bent and slammd by magnetic fields! Whence our sun is loop charged 2 stroke!
i need this in my life for real. i have 2 stroke 70cc 18-20hp scooter thats over 75mph capable. fun toy i wont take it over 75. i have a v8 swapped daily driver thats a riot. but i always wanted the 2 stroke in a car. especially a 2 stroke v8. but to pull up sounding like some crazy nitro methanol v8 crotch rocket formula one car. yeah the car meet is gonna go home. and im gonna get there before them. a very small amount of boost would make these things crazy powerful without a bunch of expensive performance parts. add some good expansion pipe exhaust and im sure a solid 400-500 hp could be had.
Yeah but its a two stroke, most Power comes with an really good exhaust. Pretty sure the one in the rudezon is making more hp. But to build such a big exhaust there is just no romm in this engine.
It had lots of tourk but it was no different from speed than the v6 but yes lots of tourk it was geard low that motor was made for a big big heavy boat tourk I think they made for 1 or 2 years only this one is running real rich but on the water she will start to lean out
That's the problem. Church has been overrun with woke culture. The original race engines had some positives but more laws and government religion didn't make products better. It actually shut companies down. Now a motor costs the same as a basic house did 15 years ago. Government needs to go home.

It's an outboard your not running it everyday, Two people like you that ruined real performance. 4 strokes are garbage, and while a 450R mercury v8 barley hits 122mph on a liberator, a 2.5 efi mercury can hit 134mph on a 19ft eliminator from 93 lol.. So at the end of the day you can thank people like you for turning performance and fun into prius and Karens family lol.... Stay out of my cove bro
BTW the evinrude formula F1 was better had 425hp and revved to 10,000rpm could be modified at up to 600hp I saw one on a bass boat and a race boat at lake mead around 1989-1990 ish... Because of rude Karen complainers like you that never knew real performance, These fun machines along with companies revenue went elsewhere, to be replaced by garbage boats and engines

Sounds like shift iterrupter switch has an intermittent failure or pack failure.
Pack or coil......sounds like a coil popping in and out, had th same thing on my johnson 50hp

I had a v6 175 evinrude with 19" prop. It took about 60 litres/hour at 4500 rpm. So more then that.
