    I sometimes don't even notice how 9 hours pass by when I fly big XC routes. Having that ultimate big goal in mind but also setting a new small goal after each glide and climb - that's really the key! An excellent advice, Greg. Well proven, confirmed 👍

    Never really had that issue. Always had "the next step approach"....1.) successful launch. 2.) Get up. 3.) Try to stay in control....sort of. 4) Find the next crazy thermal before having to land. 5) Do a monumental XC until the sun sets....
    6.) Land safely.. ....and then sort out retrieve 👍😎👍

    Greg - You insight in this video applies to so many thing in life: When you are out of your comfort zone, remember why you are there, and where you are going. That goal should carry you through. I have had the same experience when sailing offshore... That creeping feeling of being far from any shore. It's important to sit with that feeling - to "appreciate" that discomfort - but it can be paralysing. A goal really helps.

    Hi Greg ! Completely in accord with you about the feelings when coming back to flying after some stop. I'm a beginnner in progress (in France) but already very sensible to those feelings.
    Plus the fact that at my level of practice (57 flights ), each part of the flight is a goal : a good analyse of the forecast, of the real situation on spot, to perform a good take off, to find the way to stay in the air, to go higher, to pay attention to all the others in the "bocal", and to try to go safely somewhere more far than last time, if it is possible, and of course to finish by a safe and nice landing... some of these goals are sometimes not at their best level and when in the evening I see the film in my head, I try to note the next axis of working... sorry for my english...

    Good trick! I am doing cobra time to time in tandem but never asked passenger to follow instead I want him to stay in place which is normally prefferered to avoid him to fall down. But surely it makes the move smoother and easier to control. I will definitely try it. Thank you!

    Thanks. I live in norway. Dont travel during winter. And spring thermals are always strong. So easy to be stressed in beginning of the season.
    I will try and implement this. When the thermals start again.

    Hey @Fly With Greg,
    Thank you for all the videos that you have created all of them are really educating and entertaining, i am a new pilot hardly have 40-50 hrs of fly experience, but your videos have helped me clear a lot of doubts and helped me build up confidence in my flying. I am still having a question rather i want to ask your opinion on how can i improve my ridge souring and thermalling but still have difficulties in maintaining a good climb and staying in thermals any suggestions that you will like to give me in this matter. Any practice or reference is appreciated. Thank you again and keep up the good work.

    Hi Greg! I enjoy alot of your videos, and this one was very good.
    I already have a fairly good grip on xc flying, however I have a problem with getting sick while flying. after about an hour, in rougher conditions i get nauseous. do you have any tips, tricks or whatever to get rid of this?
    I have tried both the bands for your wrists and the band-aid to put behind the ear, and neither works. i have a feeling it could maybe be mental.

    Did you read my mind?
    Some days I love this sport. I launch, and it's just beautiful.
    Others, I just can't enjoy it.
    Massive anxiety.
    The weird thing is, the higher I am, the better i feel.
    Sometimes it's like I have to fly for 15, 20 mins, nervous, anxious, etc, and then everything in me seems to just settle, and I can focus on flying and enjoying the challenge.
    It never happened until about 3,4 years in.
    I never felt fear at all, it all seemed very safe. But after about 4 years, the fear came.
    Now I wonder if I'm making poor decisions.
    It's very weird.
    One of the issues is not doing an SIV
    1 I can't afford it and
    2 I have bad shoulders and no strength. I don't think I could actually pull a collapse.
    It's those amazing flights, views, launch areas etc that keep me coming back.
    I dunno.
    Probably need a psychiatrist

    Anybody have advice for finding an instructor near ohio? I got a wing recently and have been doing ground work/hopping hills but want to progress safely before HEIGHT

    Been there...after a few collapses within a couple weeks, I got scare to go high or in rough thermals. So weird!

    Hello Greg it's Eric I'm on a different account cuz my other account got hacked but I was wondering I was on my tandem wing I took off on a straight narrow path the hill was on the right side of me but when I took off it picked me up in the air and it slung me into the big hill really hard add a 45° angle and I was about a least 20 ft up in the air the wind was 18 miles per hour wind gusts at 22 what did I do wrong and it was on flat surface but on my left hand side was like a forest and then on my right hand side was a big old heel but when I took off like I said it picked me up about 20 ft in the air and it slung me to the right and I impacted the ground really hard like I felt my brain hit my school and it busted the blood vessels in my arm and my arm was all scratched up cuz it dragged me after I landed it but I killed the wind I never put my hands out or my arms out I try to land on my side where I won't break my leg or my arm if something like that happens and that's where I always ground handle at the last time I got about 200 feet up in the air and came down really smooth and landed I did that about two times and the wind was very high that day too I tried to pull on my left brake but it wouldn't do it it just happened so quick and it's a brand new tandem wing and it was just me on it
