I was just cleared by my local school board as a teacher! My first teaching job ever! Never thought I would be a teacher. I've been an electrician for 6 years and was offered a teaching gig few months back. After a VERY rigorous process, I WAS JUST CLEARED! I am so incredibly excited!

I'm a student missionary in Bolivia to teach English to elementary and high school students. It can be a bit daunting as I I haven't studied for teaching, but its really helped being able to see videos like yours to give ideas and insight on what is best to do and not to do. For teaching to students that don't understand my language it can be hard to give an introduction on who I am. Do you have any alternative suggestions?

I totally f-ed up my first semester of teaching:
- Unprepared
- No preparation time/day given
- Nervous during first day
- Didnt know how to read the syllabus
- Said in the first day that I am a noob in teaching
- Following weeks/months almost half of the class is either late or absent
- Didnt gave retake exams for those who failed
- Too lax for a teacher, students didn't respect me as their teacher
- Failed 7 students in one class
I didnt want this to happen in my first semester but it really happened. I want to become a strict teacher but gives high grades for my future students.
Everyday I tell to myself that its my fault😢 Sometimes I want to cry because I cant reverse this mistake I made.

But hey, it’s not over yet. We teachers mess up at some point but it’s okay, we can always work on becoming better. The fact that you’re here shows how much you care about your students and how important it is for you to be able to improve in your craft.

@@TeacherKaye Yeah, I'll give myself another semester to redeem myself as an instructor (if the school would still allow me). And after that, I don't have a plan to continue this as a part-time nor a career. But it sparked my interest to continue my studies in Masters.
For context to my earlier comment:
- I don't have any prior experience in teaching like complete zero, I was a noob.
- I was a developer (mostly remote).
- 3 classes were given to me, a part-timer.
- The subject Computer Fundamentals and Applications isn't my specialty, I specialize in programming.
- The students were 18-19 years old, I am 24, there's only 6 years of age gap. And I'm still not mature mentally.
And for the 7 failed students in Class A:
- Mostly absentee.
- Never did their activity when they are present.
- Always go home early.
- I always tell them to do their work... they don't.
- I always ask their classmates to remind them to come. (I also message them in Messenger before)
- Their scores in exams are 30s or 20s over 100.
- When I passed their grades, they constantly message me in Messenger, asking about why did they failed. (I don't open my work messenger anymore because of that, that sh*t gave me a depression for two weeks!)
I taught 3 F-ing classes in my first semester as a noob, I didn't have time for their worries (they are already first year college, so I considered them as an adult). They were the only class who have 7 failed students. And the highest grade I gave is 95 over a 100 in each student in Class B and Class C! I know that I can give them a high grade if they deserve it, and I wanted to! But they didn't let me...

Anong tip mo sa mga student teacher na may relationship sa studyante nila. In 2019, I had a relationship with one of the students and for the span of 6 months walang nakakaalam. ..and, Yes. Ako nakakuha ng virginity niya . She's now 18.
