- After six months of setbacks, failed counter-offensives and heavy losses, the Ukrainian armed forces are suffering "death by a thousand cuts", according to a former general.
Despite inflicting punishing losses on Russia, which is currently losing up to 1,200 soldiers per day, Ukraine is being strained by relentless Russian attacks in an attempt to wear down the country.
Retired Australian Army Major General Mick Ryan said: "It really is this death by a thousand cuts."

Not sure why the stats of deaths are always cited without the other side, it's like the most important context to that number so why not include x casualties and y casualties?

This is because Russia is a LOUSY army on the battlefield with outdated to NO equipment and no real tactics except zombie meat attacks of non-trained soldiers while Ukraine concentrates to hold positions. However, ratio will chance if Ukraine decides to go on offensive again (which it HAS to do at some point to liberate its occupied territory).

Easily same claim could be made by Russians they are gaining ground and having far less KIA than UA (due to advantage in artillery and heavy FAB bombing of UA lines) and it's based on data with similar (accountability) as your claim. So why have we had to shoulder the billions sent to them when this is really on Europe's doorstep? We haven't been successful with training Ukraine's fighters, volunteers for the legions on dropping out due to no support or equipment. So again where has out funds been used to make a dent? All that money sent could of helped our own people. We have Israel we are supporting, we are getting dragged into Taiwan's potential conflict and we have lost focus on the American people! Russia"s artillery , Air Force and Missiles have all been significantly useless in order to gain territory. However, when they sent in half a million men with equal amouts of casualties and sometimes operating with night vision they managed to regain 10 % of the Ukrainian 2022 offensive.
Maybe Ukraine has got too many mines and Cheap drones amd advanced weaponry is just not enough. They produce 1 million drones per year. Problem for Russia is that Ukraine has now dug down better and each mile costs more.
Not near 180,000 KIA, closer to 120,000. Ukraine at around 80,000-90,000 KIA. If the conflict goes on Ukraine may actually start taking more KIA than Russia, Russia can bring in more & more troops while Ukraine is struggling already. Keep in mind they outnumbered the Russians 2 to 1 by June 2021, 3-1 by end of the year. Now the Russians in most areas they're taking ground they outnumber the Ukrainians.

You can reason as you wish, but I’m speaking from the position of Russia; for Russians, Ukraine is part of their history, part of their land, part of their family, therefore any “democratic” military bases on this territory are an unacceptable option for Russians. A neutral status for this country is actually a very good way out of this war, I would even say that this is a real guarantee of security, because Russia will no longer have a reason to feel threatened. There are many reasons for this war, but I think the most important is the expansion of the bloc.
