I'm not really a scooter guy...but I actually like this one. This looks like it was designed by someone in the 1980's imagining what all future motorcycles would look like.
I find that kind of cool!
Good video Rob!!
Thanks fir watching KG
Gotta love that whine as they spool up..
Really love it Simon
You had me at heated grips and seat 😂🍺
Haha G it was useful that's for sure
Cool video Rob, such a great scooter 👌
Thanks Franky
It looks and sounds like a weapon.
Love it , kept looking at it thinking Karlie would love it in pink 😊
She sure would Aunty Jude xx
Great review Rob, got to enjoy watching electric evolve in the automotive space😎👍🏼
Thanks Bert
Another great review Rob thank you didn’t mind the sound of that electric bike either they will definitely be the future..👍🏻🇦🇺
Thanks Wayne it's certainly growing on me
I have one, just got the top box fitted. First class. Charge off solar, no fuel costs ever. The power of this machine is amazing. Not for long distance though, the seat is not comfortable for me, it forces me to take a brake. But that is a good thing. It is to high for me i am 5 foot 7 on a good day. It is to short also, not sure how that is possible but there you go... I will never have an internal combustion engine again. I live 70km from the city, enjoy a back roads ride to and from the farm to Perth. Charge off solar at the farm, charge off solar in Perth. Why would anyone have a ice vehicle??? Well done BMW.... Firstclass,,,,
The solar is a fantastic idea. Well done
I have changed my tune when it comes to electric bikes ever since riding the Livewire.
I think they have a place as a commuter or a short afternoon burn, then have your big ol rumbling HAWG as your full day/road tripper.
Personally I don’t mind the look of this thing. Probably because I’m a big Star Wars fan
Mate that's it, it's fit for purpose, and let's face it...we all like having multiple bikes
Looks like fun for around town Rob. For touring the Kymco AK550 and the Yamaha Xmax 560 scooters and both very capable & comfortable. Your reviews get better n better Rob keep up the good work.
Thank you mate I appreciate you saying so
ah ! Storm Trooper speeder bike reference, I thought the same thing!
Hahaha
I can't wait to test ride one. A very good overview. 🛵💨🦑
Thanks Eric I'll love to hear your thoughts
This could be a winner for short urban rides for sure!
It’s gonna be interesting to see how the electric bike/scooter market evolves over the next ten years! ✌️
I agree 100%Rog. It'll be interesting for sure
Very interesting review Mr Charlwood!
I know that’s where we are heading, in the future… just don’t know if I’ll join that train lol…
I appreciate the engineering and design it’s just something I’m sure we will all need to adjust to.
Great job with the edits and the info xx
Rochelle I think we are old enough to always have a gas guzzling option until we die. I don't think the younger generation will have the same opportunity 😉🤙
Awesome review, as always Rob. BMW have definitely set the benchmark. Such a fun and responsive commuter. Look forward to seeing you in store again, soon!
Thank you so much guys
Interesting bike Rob, I’d give it a go for sure.
Hmmm... I would love to test ride one. I might head down the road in the next little while to give one a whirl. As usual, awesome work buddy!
It's certainly a bit of fun Pauly
Hey Rob, awesome video on this bike. I owned a Fonzarelli S1 for 5 years and loved the electric scooter ride. No gears great take off and acceleration. Plus so easy to load up with “stuff” - haha … it was so easy to park and top up took place overnight so never had an issue with running out of energy when riding around Camden. So much fun and so cheap to run.
Great video 👍
Thanks Andrew. Yes I've been trying to lock down Mich from Fonz for a story
I am a big fan of electric vehicles. Love the star wars reference. Imagine if they sounded like the speeder bike in Return of the Jedi. They would sell very well.
Or program it and make it sound like a pod racer.
Mate I'm sure it can be done lol
@@ThrottleDownunder would be cool, and nerdy. And I’d probably get sick of it in a week.
Weird lookin bloody thing aye Rob it’d be hilarious round town great review mate
Thanks Tazy
Nothin like a little tingle in the right spot 😁😵. Good review, Rob. The space age scooter, Battlestar Galactic, eat your heart out. Scoot well. Cheers
Haha thanks mate
Nice video Rob
As much as I want to like em .. range always puts me off !! I know it’s the future .. but for the moment nah … u will never get the same feeling as the M8 !!
I agree mate. My M8 makes me smile a lot
Great review and I’d like to ride one for the fun of it. I don’t live in an urban area enough to warrant this type of vehicle but I could see this being a hit in a big city. I’m still partial to the combustion engine. Again, great review my friend.
I still love noise and gas too.
Good review, it looks so quirky!
It does look like a big scooter, not sure about the looks, agree it does look a bit like a Star Wars Speeder bike. I can see myself buying an EV at some point, just need to sort out better battery life.
Yes I agree Ross, battery life is certainly a sticking point for many
Look fun
Was plenty on fun Dave 🤙
Had a good ride of what I think is this exact bike yesterday. (it's only in Perth for a week, so I figure it's a demo touring the nation).
I might be a tiny bit too tall for this bike (although the standard flat seat would give me more room to move compared to this comfort seat) I would happily have one if I had the space and budget for a second bike.
Makes more sense 12kw power for the city and 125cc compared. With the higher power you need a heavy bike with short range so it's no good out the city
I know electric bikes and cars are coming, not sure how I feel yet. Can’t really judge until I ride one. Boy they are heavy but really does look cool. 😎
Have you ridden any yet? For me I wasn't a fan until I felt the torque on a Zero. Wow
Love the looks, would buy one if it had twice the range and half the price tag.
👍💯
Great vid. But. For me (an old fossil), "yeah-nah"! ;) Lol!. Cheers mate!
Hahaha fair enough too
Great review mate. I’m still an electric vehicle noob. Do Dodgem cars count? I would love to try one.
I think hydrogen powered vehicles will eventually be available. I hope so at least.
Haha love a dodgem car.....imagine the electrified wire mesh everywhere to keep electric machines going? Lol
@@ThrottleDownunder It’s not so far fetched. Must be a way.
I’m a fan of EV. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next 15 years as regulations depict further market saturation.
I have to say, I’m a bit undecided about those “futuristic” looks. And then that rear wheel. It looks like a steel rim from a 1978 Honda Civic. It really throws off the look from the rest of the bike.
Yes the next 15 years will be interesting foe sure Stef
Interesting review. Not sure they are for me personally because I don't think I'd use one over my motorcycles enough to warrant it. The thing that worries me about them a bit is for places like in Melbourne where you park them on the footpath and right outside the shop you are going to etc 230kg is as big as a Sport Tourer motorcycle. So I wonder if it erodes some of the utility of owning a scooter ie... put it where you want with ease? 800mm seat sounds good to me because I'm short and if women want one that sounds good for sales. Torque figure sounds good and very usable. I'm half tempted but don't need one like I said.
I know what you mean mate
like it. Nice piece of kit
when you want more EV power. Go review an Energica. they are down under now too.
I'll certainly look them up. I rode a Zero years ago and that was amazing
At 20k plus , will be interesting to see if many sell
I agree mate.
In the States the premium is around 13K.
Still, no one has made an EV cruiser , like an EV HD Softail.
True Chris. I'm sure it'll happen one day
Don't waste your money. Aftre three months of ownership, mine is in the repair shop.
Is it Lams?
4;14 probably more there than all of U.S. at the moment
Cool scoot, just a shame they are so darn expensive. I wouldn't mind a little electric scooter as an urban runabout but it's got to be cheap.
There are some Aussie manufacturers that make very affordable electric scooters
The fonz is cheap, but limited in that they cannot handle highway speeds, even for brief times. I would have bought a fonz if they PUT THE BIG DONK IN IT. We’re waiting for our CE to arrive now
Price
any servicing involved?
Yes. Brakes if u ever really need them due to the regen, belt after 24,000 miles, break fluid, tires, and dionostic test of the system.
Oh its ok but its no Supercub!
There is no ENGINE braking. It has a MOTOR (which is electric, engines are gas operated.)
Definitely an interesting scooter 🛵
Makes me a little bit worried about the future of motorized bikes
I wonder what things will look like in 10 years
