I'm not even sure if it was their intention to make him ugly by putting glasses on him, porbably just so he would look a bit more like the shy, introvert kid
Honuloulou13 I didn't mention anything about bullying but if we're being honest in the real world people who possess good looks aren't typically shy, introverted or bullied. They are usually popular, outgoing and always surrounded by friends. If you've been to any form of public schooling you would know this. Although it might not have been their intention to make him look ugly, adding glasses to his character was done with the intention to take away from his model looks and make him seem more nerdy and less attractive which doesn't really work in favor of this actor. To be honest this was just bad casting, the main character is a good actor but maybe this role wasn't meant for a guy who could be a 6 foot 2 supermodel. I'm not saying this role was meant for an ugly person but maybe a person who is simply average in looks. Sadly good looks will always be preferred in the entertainment industry....hence this movie.
I meantioned bullying because the character in the film is being bullied. And honestly, he isn't extraordinarly pretty. He has distinct facial features but with his wide nose, lack of good bone structure, this hairstyle and the slight feminine touch, he is okay-looking according to popular western beauty standards but not a super model.
I see what you mean, but I don't agree with you concerning your claim that attractive people cannot be shy or introverted since it is a personality trait. Sure, being isolated can lead to becoming shy, but it doesn't have to. They can even be bullied while ugly/average people can be socially well accepted by their peers. I am not from a public school but i've seen ugly people be popular and fine looking people be isolated and/or bullied. I know that it an be easier for pretty people in life, but if you get into school already shy your good looks don't automatically make you popular and then extroverted.

I just saw this movie last week and I actually really enjoyed it. The acting and music were amazing, so if you’re thinking about watching it or not so sure I highly encourage you giving it a watch.
