- If you have a target at 25 yards, 50 yards, and 100 yards, what’s your buckshot pattern going to look like? We used Winchester 00 buck to see what kind of shot pattern would be produced.
The shotgun in the video is a vintage 1955 dated Ithaca Model 37 sporting a 27” barrel with Mod Choke. With its versatility, reliability and slam-fire feature, the Ithaca Model 37 is still a favorite with enthusiasts.

I love my Ithaca 37 Full Choke. Guns been shot so much it’s more of a modified than a full anymore, it was built in 1955 so I can give it some slack, I always take and point the bottom eject out when I rack a shell out just because of how far it will throw it. Had to shoot a raccoon once while barefooted, plastic hull left an imprint on the top of my foot
Bro I swear to god those shells are feet tinders
We need more info. Load, manufacturer, choke tube if you have one in, etc.
Definitely. I know out of my Deerslayer Ithaca M37 barrel at 100yds it's hitting the target at least 4 times. Must be his modified choke which is meant for #4 shot and bird shot. My Deerslayer barrel is made for slugs and buckshot.
@@dmre0 also if you want super tight patterns out of buck, while I haven’t used it myself, apparently Federal Flitecontrol has some crazy right patterns
Hes modified
@@markmawson3904 flite control only works out of cylinder bore guns, and even then it’s merely a normal cylinder bore spread delayed by ~7yds. OGs Danger show has a great video on this. It looks super tight up close, really mediocre a ways off
looks like a ithaca 37 featherlight, modified choke
Ok, it patterns much better than I thought it would.
Love the model 37
The fun thing is, hold down the trigger and as you cycle the action, as it locks it fires.
I have eight!
Ithaca gun...1960's...I worked for Ithaca gun.
Interesting
The amount of people who can't read the title and see that it says Mod is absolutely amazing.
😂
Ask the kids, when did the war of 1812 happen and get the same response.
If you find yourself in a firefight with buck at 100yrds... you just better spray and pray I guess.
Lol
Happend to me. I rolled a giant doe at about 85-90 yards 000 buckshot full choke jing 12 gauge
Not bad tbh lmao
Throwing literal *WALLS* of lead at the target, at least in a shtf scenario, some of those will hit and make it harder for them to fight back if you're lucky 🤣
50yds is my personal boundary with buckshot. Your barrel, choke and ammo might vary.
The guy going for a hike in the woods to escape stressful city life: 😇
I love my Ithaca 37
Mark holes from each distance.
If you used flight control buckshot loads you'd have a very different outcome, a much better one.
Exactly that stuff is black magic
I want an old pump shotgun so bad.
They are nice, I’m sure there’s one out there with your name on it
@@BattlefieldCurator Now you’re talking!👊
My guess is the choke is improved basically wide open.
It's actually MOD choke but I was able to get shots on a similar target with a Benelli Nova 12 MOD Choke and same ammo at that distance
Maybe change out the box in between shots and the difference would be a bit easier to see
Nice ITHACA! Just what choke is that barrel?
Do you know when that shotgun was manufactured?
Does it slam fire?
This one is a MOD choke and it’s dated 1946 so yes it slams 😎
@@BattlefieldCurator🤤
Wau smart ❤ shoting
use cutshells instead... fast and on the go.
You can only use one cut shell at a time tho. You can’t load them in the tube
Your using a solid berrul use a ultra full choke
With all respect to Neal, I dont understand why you would do this. People commonly kill 200 lb deer at 50 yards with 00 buck and a full choke. Soread will be around 15 inches woth a good choke. With a full choke I dont think you can shoot slugs, but if you're shooting cylinder or IC and engage at 75 yds where you need a slug for distance the spread on buck will be roughly 5 or 6 feet so youre unlikely to hit anything.
You move your gun before the squeeze on the one hundred yards,I've killed multiple bucks past one hundred yards with six shot buck load 3 1/2 magnum
That pattern on 100 yards are inpossible, even on 50 yards that shotgun spread more.
Think you need some different shells. Federal flight control wad with 00 was good for me.
Could be the shotgun too. My Benelli Nova 12 hit a few at 100 yards, even though both had Mod choke
@@BattlefieldCuratortry it with a full choke or buckkicker chokes
Regardless of choke or load, hitting targets at 50 yards with buckshot becomes more luck than skill. This is why slugs were invented.
what? Hitting at 50 yards is almost a guarantee unless you cant shoot, just doesnt mean youll hit anything important. 100 is pure luck based on how it spreads
At 25 yours with a extra full choke you would’ve jus blew a hole right through the cardboard
How much hold over at 50, 100 yrs?
50 was at the center still and at 100 I tried at the top and more than half height over
Does that Ithaca have the hunting scene on the receiver?
Yes
@@BattlefieldCurator So, it's a riot/police model instead of a military model? What year?
@@klausb1758it’s a featherlight model. Civilian/Hunting. Law enforcement models had short barrels
Theres a lot drop at 100 yds. Need to know how much
Maybe I should have done a 75 yard shot
The two shots I did at 100 had different elevations as well
Try it with poormans slugs
Need a choke for buckshot bud
try it with buckkicker chokes lol
ne good for crowd control at a 100 yards
Minute of man at best.
Gonna need a choke and plated shot at a distance.
This is useful but grab a Sharpie and mark those hits!
It already has a modified choke.
Choke?
MOD
Certainly we need to know at least what choke you have.
Mod
$1 per round
Please do not go deer hunting at a 100 yds. with a modified choke. You need at least a full choke and that will be pushing the limit. Anything under 100 yds. with a full or x-full should be no problem.
Sabot slugs.
Dont show this video to any videogame developer
Haha 😂
Beyond 15yds, I'm using sabot slug.
U need a better shotgun and a tighter choke. Also work on your aim.
Yea my Benelli got 4 hits at 100yd with a mod choke
Ithaca is an amazing shotgun. Especially his. So, no.
Lmao not using a choke at those distances is just down right silly
He is using a choke. Read the title.
