As I noted in a separate reply, the 365XL and G43x are similar in size, not the 48. I can't see how the Sig would be more concealable than a 43x, though might be more comfortable than a longer barreled 48? Without a doubt the 365 series out of the box is a better value. But if you swap out the Glock's POS trigger shoe with something with reduced pre-travel (and overtravel) throw in a slightly lighter striker spring and safety plunger spring and you have a gun that shoots nothing like a stock Glock. In fact, throw in a Johnny Glock OEM shoe removing all the pre travel reduced as possible safely, then put in a Ghost Pro connector with over-travel reduction and a 4.5 pound striker spring and reduced power safety plunger spring and you have something that shoots pretty close to a 1911 with a 3.75 pound super short, super crisp trigger pull (though I wouldn't recommend that configuration for carry).

The point was that Glock is Ferrari because they've been the market leader for a long time. The P365 is the Ford because it's the new competitor that beat the old champ.

    • @heathwasson7811
      @heathwasson7811 Před 4 lety +30

@@gibbynj3002 No, you have it backwards. At least in regards to which company compares to which. Ford was the market leader, with the lower priced utilitarian vehicles, and out sold Ferrari by orders of magnitude. Ferrari was the high-end maker, and led in performance "niche" vehicles.
Glock is the market leader, but makes a lower priced utilitarian pistol, that gets the job done, but is certainly not leading in the performance/high-end side of things.
Sig, with the exception of most 1911s, is one of the more expensive pistol brands on the market, and has some relatively high-end pistols, that basically outperform Glocks in every quantifiable metric.
Realistically Sig isn't exactly Ferrari, that would be you're true high-end semi custom makers like Nighthawk or Wilson Combat. Likewise, Glock isn't quite Ford either...
It's more like Honda VS Lexus.
But in the Ford Vs. Ferrari comparison in this case, it's a bit of a miss-matched comparison. In this case, rather than Ford trying to make a race car and compete with Ferrari... It's like Ferrari deciding it wanted to get into the mass commuter market and make a model to take on the Ford Focus.

Honestly I chose the 48. I shot both through a class. As I’m going through my drills, I was expecting the Sig to fail. It didn’t fail, catastrophically, because pistols fail if you run them hard enough in class. But I shouldn’t have to have the mindset to vet the gun, the way that I was. Just see what I like best. The Glock was a no-brainer. I didn’t have to wonder about catastrophic failure, or whether it was part of a bad batch, or if the warranty would not be honored if they found out I got dirt inside it. I just didn’t. Your mileage may differ. For summertime carry, I choose the G48. All my opinions. Peace.

Only benefit of the 48 over 43x is longer slide equals a little less recoil and a little more sight distance for improved accuracy. But the sig still hold more rounds. Buying the SA15 mags ( and the metal mag release for them ) just adds more cost to the 43X and 48. You can't honestly complain the Sig is too expensive if you're going to spend $150+ on the Glock to make it match the Sig's features.

With 12 or 15 rounds on tap, and such small mags, this gun is easy to keep rounds on target, extra rounds easily on tap and with the right ammo, I am sure it will do the job most effectively.

Sig has a much cleaner take-up, but then it's a ton of creep to the break. The glock has horrible take up, but I could care less as I take this out before the shot, then a nice defined wall and a crisp break.

I will admit it, its my opinion. That the Sig XL is as near perfect as one can buy for the money, for a 9mm Carry Pistol, ten rounds or more. Carry is my point, still large enough that if you must jerk it out, you do not feel under-gunned, assuming your mags are loaded with a premium Plus P Hollow Point. To get the 48 to compete with the XL out the box will cost at least $400 without even adding in stippling. The most interesting part that has me torn now is the 15 rd mags you can get for the 48. The XL is without a doubt the better deal but I'm seriously leaning towards purchasing a 48 and doing a ton of work to it. It needs slide cut for red dot, new night sights, new mag release, new 15 rd mags just to start. How accurate is the 48 compared to the XL? One of the strengths of Sig 365 models is the accuracy.

You can buy really good Glock night sights for far less than $130. There are a ton of options in the $65 - $85 range. You can get Truglo fiber optic sights for Glocks for less than $50. Installing Glock sights with a basic sight pusher is very simple. However, I agree that the basic plastico Glock sights are terrible, and the P365xl (and P365) sights are far better. The option to buy Shield arms 15 round magazines (with the recommended metal mag release) makes the G43x/G48 extremely size efficient. RMR plate on a CCW pistol is meh. Having said all that, I'd love to have a P365xl in addition to my regular P365. Although, I'd switch the flat P365xl trigger for the curved one from the regular P365.

I own numerous Glocks. My G43 aims and shoots better than my P365 12 rd. Tac-Pac. The reason is the palm swell or lack thereof and general grip configuration. SIG got it right on the P365XL plus a 0.6" longer barrel. Am going to purchase a P365XL configured with a HOLOSUN 507C GREEN DOT as soon as they make the chassis in TITANIUM. The P365 is a small deep concealment and pocket gun and the P365XL IS an intermediate sized deep concealment gun. I know this because I fired 40 rounds through a friend of mine's P365XL with the factory sights. Shoot both P365 and P365XL and you will see. Don't really like the P365 SIG DAO Striker trigger. Like the Zev, Apex, Lone Wolf Dist., Overwatch Precision, etc upgrade triggers for Glocks. Nothing like them available for SIGs due to the way they are built. Straight trigger shoe on P365XL makes NO difference. Standard Glock trigger on my latest MADE IN SMYRNA, GA, GLOCK 19 was amazingly good. Better than SIG DAO hands down. My favourite is the LWD UAT trigger upgrade. And YES the standard Glock sights are not good. I have a couple of sight pushers and kits for those pushers that allow me to change and upgrade the sights myself. I have never screwed one up even on one of my custom 1911's.
My new race gun is a Zev// Custom build on a G19 Gen3 gripframe. Has a HOLOSUN 507T GREEN sight. The Gen3 frame is perfect for me and the Holosun sight is perfect. Aims and shoots well and quickly. NOT NEARLY AS CONCEALABLE AS THE G43 OR P365 OR P365XL.

      - nicer slide cut / color / finish
      - better fit barrel
      - metal guide rod
      - night sights
      - factory stipple
      - flat face trigger
      - manual saftey
      - light rail
      - better mag / slide release
      - metal magazines flush 12, 15 extended
      - optics ready cut (holosun 407k/507k, swampfox sentinel, shield etc)
      my only issues were:
-the magazine release button was weak and felt like cheap plastic, replaced it with armory craft extended and textured model.
-light rail is proprietary and does not go to the end of the barrel, tactical dev makes a rail that goes on, allowing light of choice (valkyrie mini2 fits like a glove)
-12 round flush mags are hard to insert full, and hard to load by cocking back the slide, 15 rounders no problem.
      - G43x/G48 , you can get MOS which is prob 500-600 in todays prices if you even find one.
optic cut and light rail are proprietary, rmrcc and holosun 407k/507k do not fit and would require work. Streamlight is coming out with a decent light to fit the rail.
you need to buy 15 round shield mags and find them in stock (43x and 48' do not appeal with 10 round mags)
you need upgraded slide and mag release buttons (tyrant design cnc)
cant stand glock triggers, upgrade to overwatch poly dat
talon pro grips, even though the p365xl has better stipple work, I put those on the sig as well. (Sig grip might be too thin for some)
upgrade the sights trijicon hd night or fiber optic.
      - I would prefer to have a manual saftey or striker control device on the back plate on a glock. my other two carries : P365XL has a manual saftey and CZP01 has double action and a hammer / de cocker.
feels better than a glock with one in the chamber.

The Sig p365 XL is almost a perfect gun--small and light enough to carry IWB every day, yet big enough to not be a chore to shoot at the range, and to hit at distance. Now if they would only give it a manual safety I'd buy it, as I appendix carry and won't do that with a gun that does not have one. And the trigger is too flat too, but that's just nitpicking.

My first, and present, gun is a Remington RM380, which I also carry regularly (has been 100% awesome, shoots everything). This was my first foray into firearms. Now that I have more knowledge, experience, training, and understanding under my belt I was looking for a 9mm to carry. I am only 5'6" and don't have a lot of realestate on me for concealment so I was looking for something small, but also didn't want a maximum snappy gun either. When the P365 came out I was pretty excited but concerned about how snappy it would be. Then the XL came out and I figured this would answer all my personal needs. I wanted capacity (12+1 works for me), concealability, accuracy, and controllability. The XL meets all these and was confirmed when I attended a SIG "Try before you Buy" event. Given 3 shots, my target had virtually only 2 holes in it. Two shots were that close together, and the third was less than in inch away, in a gun I never touched before. It felt great in my hand, and I know I can conceal this on me easily. This, along with great sights, is a no brainer for me. I am waiting for mine to arrive.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I've got a S&W M&P .40 that's my first gun. It was left to me by my uncle who passed away in January. It's a nice gun but too big to carry for me. I was researching on a carry gun and chose the 365 xl. Can't hardly wait to pick it up and go to the range.

I wish they put a rail on the G48. Also wish Glock bought the patent from Shield Arms for the 15 round mag.

They came out with rails last year. I personally don't care for rails. Less weight. Easy to find holster. Easier to conceal. You give out your position using lights on your gun during home invasion.

I own both pistols as well as the 43xMOS and have carried Glocks as a LEO since they came out. I recently switched to the XL and haven’t looked back. The Sig is the Ferrari. And I bought the regular P365 to make the XL an X. Perfection.

The 365xl is substantially smaller than a G19. Even with the 15rd mag in the XL, it still much smaller.

I Like my glocks, but they are being left behind by other manufacturers that listen to consumers.
