This probably makes me look stupid, but the tip about using good speakers or headphones when trying to hear basslines just took me from not getting it to understanding clearly. I've spent a week trying to figure out what basslines are listening to my iPhone's speaker while sitting at the piano, and I had SO MUCH trouble finding basslines. I'm using over-ear headphones now and it's really obvious. THANK YOU!

For me personally, I’ve trained my ear to hear what I need to hear. I’m still learning though. I can focus on drums if I’m learning on drums. I can focus on piano if I’m learning on piano and so on with instruments. Train your ear to hear what you NEED.

I don't know why but I've been focusing on the bass line all the time automatically. A chemical bound maybe. :)

    Hey Mark
How are you doing today, how long have you been playing the bass guitar and is that your first instrument you played, how did you learn to play? music or by ear, or both or what, how long did it take you to get we're you didn't feel like giving up and quiting it all, how long did it take for you to start doing better and you got past that point of I am no good!I never learn anything,I never be any better than I am now, nothing is making any sense at all, I think I never gonna get there! I have those feeling about everyday, it's like I am swimming in very muddy water, people say they felt that same way,but they got beyond it, I think they may have more talent than I do, but I just wanted to ask you about it, thank you Mark. and I love your videos lessons.

      4 years late but
There is no such thing as having more talent than someone. It's all about proper practice. If you aren't getting better check your left hand posture and all. If it seems fine then keep practicing. Most common mistake i've seen when teaching guitar was a fucked up left hand posture so yeah. Other than that everyone takes a break from playing from time to time. I just went out of a 6 month break and came back in force.
