Golden Cuban Chain Ring | How it's made
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 15. 01. 2021
- Hello everyone and thanks for watching, this is one I've been planning to make for a while now, I hope you guys like it!
I really had to study this one, took me a whole afternoon calculating the correct wire gauges but I nailed it. This was more tricky than making just a cuban link chain, I had to solder the chain flat and then I realized I had to actually close the ring somehow đ so I sawed a link open... All in all, it was worth it and I'm happy with the outcome.
I used 85/15 golden brass and hard silver solder, cooked the chain with the propane torch and soldered with my good old oxy-hydrogen water welder. The rest, well the rest was quite improvised for lack of tools! Let me know what you think in the comments!
If you enjoyed this video like and subscribe 'cause there's more coming!
Cheers!

That is spectacular craftsmanship I love watching this video it makes me really appreciate man made jewelry
Iâm so glad that I came across this tutorial, my husband really liked this ring, I will be making a similar one for him!!!!
Hello there, I'm happy you liked my work, I'd love to see how it turns out (:
Cool techniques, always wondered how that chain style was doneđ
Looks cool as a ring for sure
Thank you my friend, I'm glad you liked it đ
That is super nice!
Thanks for sharing ..... luv your micro torch đ€©
Thank you for watching! Yeah it's a neat piece of equipment đ
Well I am in the process of making one like yours but with silver in 14g. You are an artist. Soldering all those links once they are strung together is not as easy as you make it look.
Thank you, not everyone gets it đ I'd love to see yours once it's finished!
@@bohdankryher9456 the rate Iâm going it may be a while, but Iâll send a pic when Iâm done.
Yeah I know what you mean, though jewelry is like good wine, it takes time đ
@@bohdankryher9456 well the first chain I made was a total failure, Links kept breaking. Going to try it with hard solder and a little tiny flame to keep from heating the links next door to much.
I love watching this video..hope someday I have one like that.long live
Amazing as always!
Thanks bro
wow
Work of art
Thank you I'm really happy you enjoyed my video âșïž
@@bohdankryher9456 All metals are beautiful. Gold, silver, platinum, palladium, bronze etc. Stainless steel also
Gantastico vĂdeo. QuĂ© grosor de alambre usas para hacer este anillo?
Very beautiful!đ»
Thank you đ
Very cool I want one of them mini torches:)
Hello there! Thanks for watching, I'm glad you liked it, mini torch comes handy for detail soldering heheh
Love the ring. How much wire went into making it.
Nice what brand is the torch that you have
Can I ask where you got your soldering mini machine ?
Loved watching you make that ring. It is a beauty. CN you tell how much wire went into making it.
Hello there! A little less than 50cm (can't remember precisely đ )
@@bohdankryher9456 thanks. That was a work of art to watch. And instructive.
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed my video
Es un gusto ver tu trabajo, gracias. Te pido por favor hagas un videito de tu fuelle de soplete, de tu mĂĄquina soldadora, gracias.
I plan on making a video presentation of my workshop as soon as I tidy it up a bit đ
Whats the thing like glue and the one he kept spreading using praintbrush
Which gas torch do you using
Tops
nice đ
Thanks for watching edin! I'm glad you liked my video :D
Hey thanks for sharing very interesting, what metal did you use for this ring?
Hello there Henry, thanks for watching! That's golden brass 85/15 :)
very cool - what is the small torch? well done video-jewelry and music
Thanks Kevin I'm glad you enjoyed my video âș the small torch is an oxy-hydrogen water welder with a fine point tip
Amazing work, you did a great job! At 5:44 if you didnât soilder the ring together would the final ring be completely collapsible and foldable? Or would it still have had some rigidity?
Hello Jaiman I soldered the last ring as well, actually all the rings are soldered together so the ring is completely rigid, not at all collapsible đ
@@bohdankryher9456 thank you very much. Also I noticed at 5:33 you used flux before you soldered the ring together, but earlier at around 3:12 you didnât use any flux. Did you just apply it off camera? or did you not use flux for that part, and if so then why?
@@jaimanbhardwaj1679 hello there, in 3:12 I didn't add extra flux because I had immersed the whole chain in a flux-water solution
@@bohdankryher9456 thank you
I finished one that is presentable just having trouble closing the ring.
WHAT TOOLS DO I NEED FOR THIS! I want to create my own
I have tried to make the chain unsuccessfully but after watching your video I am confident I will be able to make it this time. Thank you for the tutorial! What kind of mini torch are you using?
Hello there! Let me know how it went this time round! I'm using an oxy hydrogen water welding machine with a needle point torch to solder, it's the best for neat precision soldering!
Where can I get one ?
What is the name of that torch handle you are using ? Link
You are awesome teacher. Could you please tell me how to build your mini torch or where I can buy one , please I appreciate it đ·đ·đ·đ·đ·đ·đ·đ·đ·
Hello there! I did not build it and I certainly not recommend you do it! I bought it from a jeweler's supply shop, it's an oxy-hydrogen water welding machine, you can find them online at reasonable prices
What mm wire did you use for this?
Definitely going to try this. What gauge of wire did you use
The wire is 2mm đ
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you. What was the wire gauge and the diameter of the rings pls?
Hey there Diana, the wire gauge is 2mm and the link inner diameter is 4mm, happy to help :)
@@bohdankryher9456 thank you, will try to make one
What is weight of ring? and how much it will cost?
How thick is the wire u use?
When you are melting the little gaps in the rings what are you use the little torch and what is the medal you are melting
Hello there, I'm using hard silver solder and my torch is an oxy hydrogen water welding machine!
I really enjoyed this. Is it brass?
Yes, it's golden brass 85/15, I cannot afford real gold yet đ
@@bohdankryher9456 thank you. beautiful/
i canât be the only one that thought you were gonna melt it when you softened it before filing haha
Hello there Joaquin! I know! It takes practice to do this type of soldering and I've melted my work more than once before đ
This is awesome đ but how many gram the ring???
Thanks for watching! That's 7,8gr
Awsome! What mm width and thickness is that
Thanks! That'd be 7,5x2,6mm thickness and 22mm of internal diameter
What kinda of torch is that you using to solder the loops? đ€
That's an oxy hydrogen water welding machine!
Customer comes in but has gained 30lbs since making it. "can you size this up for me?"
Yup! Piece of cake, I can size a finger alright đ
Que lĂquido usas para esa joyas .?
What welding supply did you use?
Also what metal was it that you were melting with the torch? Ima make me one of the ringsđ
Hello there, I use hard silver solder for brass soldering and I use an oxy-hydrogen water welder and a propane torch, however, I did not melt no metals in this video đ
what tools were used? amazing vid btw
Thanks for watching Ivy! Oh well, I used pliers, a drill, a jeweler's saw, a file, a table polisher, a propane torch...but you probably wanted to know about my tiny flame torch đ€Ł that's an oxy-hydrogen water welding machine for jewelers.
@@bohdankryher9456 REALLY NEAT! thanks! any chance do you know the rod size & width of the material used to spin on the drill? just so i can get an idea
@@IvyBuilt yes of course, the wire is 2mm and the rod 4mm
youre awesome! thank you keep up the good work metalsmith :)
Can you please tell me more about your touch
I believe you mean my torch (: it's an oxy-hydrogen water welder
What was the big torch that you used?
Hello there Mark, that's a traditional propane torch
@@bohdankryher9456 plumbers torch? Or something like a meco midget or a Hoke?
No, not really, it's a standard liquid propane torch for jewelers [I got a big propane gas cylinder] with a no.1 tip
Will the ring turn your finger green
That's a really interesting question, gold brass doesn't actually tarnish green but black, somewhat like silver, also it won't tarnish if you wear it as you obviously wash your hands multiple times daily, so no, it won't stain your skin but it will tarnish if you store it in a humid environment
I got one 10mm 14 k gold Cuban link pinky ring waiting for my 14mm 14k ring that will sit on the finger next to my pinky
Hello. Could you tell me the diameter of the yarn you used?
What about the diameter of the rod used to wind the wire?
Thanks.
Hi, the wire is 2mm and the diameter of the rod is 4mm, happy to help âș
@@bohdankryher9456 Interesting that blowtorch you use. Maybe one day you could talk about him ...
Thank you, you are awesome!
@@Xapiro this is a oxy hydrogen water welding machine maybe someday I'll dedicate a small video to it, I sometimes use a propane torch as well
@@bohdankryher9456 Hi. I came back here because I'm curious about the blowtorch. Are there any tutorials that show the principles of fabrication like yours?
I just saw this comment :~ I believe you can find tutorials on how to build one - I've found them on youtube - but I don't recommend it, the prices online are quite reasonable
How many grams
Plz send link
Hello mate, great job!
What calculations are you doing to find the diameter of wire and circle you need to get final product?
If you want to make a 45cm x 6mm chain what is the calculation?
Thanx :)
Hello there mate! The proportions are 1:2 that is 1mm wire for 2mm inner ring diameter, as for the length of the chain, I'm just going on instinct so there's no real calculations there
May i have it đđ
đđđđđđđđ
What is the liquid at 245?
Hello there, that's borax-water solution
Thank you, and what was the overall thickness of the ring once completed
That'd be 7,5x2,6mm of thickness and 22mm of internal diameter
@@bohdankryher9456 thank you good sir
Weight??
That's 7,8 g. Thanks for watching
