    You need to change your acquisition source to FCR to see what the radar is targeting on your IHADs (you don't need George for that). That will also let you see if you are targeting something that has already been hit.
    The benefit of using the transition or flight symbology on the IHADs is that you can simultaneously see your acquisition source and nav point. You also know your attitude no matter where you are facing. If the target cross is aligned with the horizon line you know you are trimmed for 90 knots. If the cross is below you know you are trimmed to move faster.

    1st. Thank you for doing a video of how the modern US military would have conducted an anti-tank operation. I know, since I had (and I'm sure many others also have) made the point that the modern US would have used the night to their advantage, even though I recognize that it doesn't make for great videos. Thanks again. 2nd, this is exactly what, in 1991, the Iraqis went through after the coalition achieved air supremacy. This had to very terrifying for the Iraqis.

    All that's missing from the scenario is the Germans panic firing into the air.
    Can you do a scenario where the Soviets have crossed the line in a tank rush and are quickly moving on a city whose defenders desperately need all the time you can buy them before the soviet armored columns reach the city. Your Apache/A-10 unit is all that's available to try to stem the tide as all other air assets are tied up fighting the war in the air. Soviet column consist of tanks, BTR/BMP's, transport trucks, and whatever mobile anti-air assets the Soviets would use in convoy defense. No static missile defense systems as the Soviets have advanced beyond that umbrella.

Also, I was wondering why you were still on hover symbology. So if the Tanks aren’t moving, how does the Radar pick them up, because due to the ground clutter wouldn’t the radar have to be Pulse-Doppler, which only detects moving targets?

    • @grmatrix6358
      @grmatrix6358 Před 6 měsíci

      Millimetre wave radar has a short enough wavelength to discriminate and classify battlefield targets such as tanks and APCs. Doppler beam sharpening (the reason why the radar Hellfires fly off-bore initially) improves it further.

    Ehh. Radar has its benefits. So does flir and laser. Personally, flor is better. In all conditions and situations as you can’t jam or spoof it. Not stealth will help you. Slower and more cumbersome at times. Yes, can’t be fooled though. If DCS was actually like the real systems. You’d have a completely different opinion, as any true peer nation would render your radar useless in a heart beat. And you got ko other way to find and target. 5)/UK and others opinion is only formed off of fighting under the US umbrella/protection. They couldn’t even defend themselves these we abandoned then. Sad state. Meanwhile we can take on the entire world and win, of needed. Sure will be rough. But we can.

    • @blademaster2390
      @blademaster2390 Před 5 měsíci

      You say it’d be a challenge…but would it really be tho? I mean…there’s only 2 countries with semi-equivalent military power in our hemisphere, and even then we dwarf them militarily. We could steamroll the western hemisphere, and then anyone else has to cross an entire ocean to get to us, and seeing as we have the largest navy in the world in terms of raw tonnage, plus the 1st, 2nd, and 7th largest active air forces in the world…good luck getting anywhere near us.

    • @Plastikdoom
      @Plastikdoom Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@blademaster2390 it would be, to an extent, even the ones far less capable over all, could play hell in localized areas/part of a theater of operations by heavy jamming and chaff/ just putting up big sheet metal panels, it wouldn’t work more than short term, but for a time, could render some systems practically useless/slow down their use and make them cumbersome to use, maybe long enough to knock some of them down. Also depends on much the radar has advanced, I’m guessing a lot, since I knew about it last, with minimal knowledge of the systems in particular at the time. Also it’d be rough, cause the world economy would crash, we’d all be in a great depression again if that happened, and there’d be a huge amount of shortages for us until we actually started making most things again, like we used too. We’d have to really step up mass scale mining and logging again, overfish every body of water to help feed ourselves in the short term, as we preserved every bit of food that we could, then make all of our electronics again, just so we could make modern factories capable of sustaining ourselves, let alone in a total world war again, then we could actually start to make the modern systems we’d need as replacements for parts/whole platforms, and weapons. Also replace the satellites that we’d lose, as Russia and China have systems that can knock down satellites, now, how many? No idea, but probably very limited in Russias case, and semi limited in China’s both have tested ones, successfully, so have we, and ours are better and cheaper to launch/use, as F-15’s can do it, when in a full burn, ballistic climb. Plus our ships can also. Of course the areas closest to the fighting and our guys there and assets there would likely get hammered hard, before we pulled them out, or they won the local fight, only to go into theater wide operations, and get put into the meat grinder that the enemies would have to send to us, to have any hope of winning locally. Plus we gotta limit how much our aircraft fly, how long our ships at sea, and how hard they pushed, all those systems are surprisingly delicate for what they are and how good they are, they need constant maintenance and inspections/lots of major repairs, and the harder you run them, the more they need, or else they just break, or start losing mission capability.
