    I was privileged to have a nearly private show of the Blues. end of season show, NAS pensacola, 1984. was serving burgers for VT-86 1:00pm, Blues scheduled. 1:00 afternoon thunderstorm, drenching rain. most everyone left. storm went away, sun came out, and of course the Blues came out and did their show. there were perhaps 20 people left. it was an amazing day. one i'll not forget.

    Excellent video!
    Thank you for what you do. It baffles me why they give you the old almost worn out birds...I was lucky enough to see you at the Pease AFB show last year. The solo sneak was really low, such I felt the burners lol.
    Take care,
    Be safe,
    Semper FI.

    Really interesting to hear they use different techniques to roll the aircraft quickly. I guess hornet and superhornet share the same FCS logic for most of the part, and the logic in G feedback, which is important in this topic, is the same in both aircrafts in my guess. To find the 0G spot they only need to place the control stick where it corresponds to 0G, but in superhornet they need to push the stick full forward where it corresponds to negative 3G(well, this depends on the weight but certainly it's not programmed to go 0G with full forward stick). I think superhornet is more sluggish so that they need to apply full forward stick?
    Well, superhornet has much more nose authority than legacy...anyway, thank you for uploading this fantastic video.

    My Nephew works on C-130s at Marshalls, Cambridge. Not sure if he worked on Fat Albert, but he must have had
    a good look around it. Do they still do their JATO display ?

    • @bodazaphfa
      @bodazaphfa Před 2 lety

      No more JATOs. They stopped manufacturing and servicing them years ago, so there are very few left in the supply system to only be used if actually needed, unfortunately.

    While I understand our front line troops need the best tools to do a job, As a TAXPAYER, learning that the Demo teams are flying airframes out of a “junk yard” is disheartening. Boeing and other “Government Suppliers” should be ponying up with FREE, BRAND NEW airframes for these heroes!

    • @bodazaphfa
      @bodazaphfa Před 2 lety

      Theyre more like bone yards. The aircraft are in a long term preservation status with lube and barrier paper. It’s nothing like they typical car junk yard down the street.

  • @jimbosa85
    @jimbosa85 Před 2 lety

    Quick question. Boss said that on long trips they take 8 jets, so they have 2 spares. How do they accomplish that when the squadron only has 7 pilots?

    • @BlueAngelPhantoms
      @BlueAngelPhantoms  Před 2 lety +5

      Great question, when the team flies out west in October, they leverage pilots that have made the team for the following year.

    • @andrewj9831
      @andrewj9831 Před 2 lety +1

      They have 9 pilots on the team -1-6 as the demo team, #7, #8 the PAO and Narrator (normally trans. to a solo the next year) and the OX are also pilots. Wouldn't surprise if they at times ask ex-angels to join then for a weekend

  • @bret9741
    @bret9741 Před rokem

    What will happen when the blue angels retire the super hornet? Doubt they use f-35’s. Maybe a new trainer? The Angels flew A-4’s maybe the Navy will end up with T-7’s.

    It's very disheartening to hear that this awesome team of pilots doesn't have brand new planes... especially as a demo team.. smh
    Govt spending should be no problem in supplying these gentlemen with top of the line brand new equipment

    Not much diversity there.

    • @bodazaphfa
      @bodazaphfa Před 2 lety

      You don’t want a racist, diversity hire just to check a box. That will get someone killed. You hire qualified people from your pool of applicants regardless of skin color and genitalia. Are you saying that because they have lighter skin or male genitalia? Because your comment is either racist, sexist, or both.
