RESTORING AN OLD CHICKEN COOP FOR OUR HENS

- It's time for our backyard chickens to get outside and into a coop but after looking at the price of lumber we decided to try and find a used coop. We were super excited when we found one listed not too far from our house. Watch as Mike takes disassembles the coop and puts it back together in our backyard!

The coop turned out really well. That was a lot of work but it's great to upcycle and old one rather than start from scratch. Well done, all!
The coop looks fantastic. Good job! I personally approve of the wreath. Just one suggestion though. You should add some guttering onto the roof (especially above the egg collecting bit) and have the water drain into a water butt so you can use it to water the garden.
Mike you are an amazing husband and father! Coop and run look fantastic. I always put straw in my coop and nesting boxes. In the summer I get Sweet PDZ and sprinkle in the coop and run for smell, this year I am gonna try a hack I saw on one of my chicken pages you take bars of Irish Spring soap use a cheese grater and walk around grating it everywhere in coop and run, Flys and mosquitoes hate it!!!

So happy you got this coop and put it at the house you will eventually be living in. The color looks perfect too. BTW I'm not sure how far you live from Morganton NC but a channel called Come go with me did a video at the Habitat for rehab store there and it is huge. They had a lot of really nice furniture, art, dishes etc. Just thought I would mention it in case it's not too far to go. Glad you're back, Have a Blessed day and Happy Mother's day. Wow, good to have help. My husband and I collected a secondhand playground. It had to be dismantled and of course it turned out to be a much bigger job than we thought. Rusty bolts and half of the roof fell on my head. We still have to put it together though and paint it but I need to build the momentum so this video is good timing :)
Be sure to add some hay to the hen boxes.

I wondered about how to keep predators from digging under. Looks really good.👍👍 The Garden Answer channel has chickens also..in a nice coop. She feeds them different things I wouldn't expect but they really love.. You might have to search back a year or so to find that video.

Loved the long video. So impressed with Mike and the boys dismantling and reconstructing of the coup. The paint color was perfect and I even liked the wreath. The chickens look really happy in their new home.
