Yub i started watching you when i was 10 or 11, im 18 now and though i dont really watch you anymore i decided id check this video out, you truly are an inspiration and i can tell youve put on a lot of muscle since youve started working out. ive been working out for just under a year myself and seeing someone who i grew up watching also enjoy working out like i do brings me so much joy, you have great technique and i feel like if you post more workout videos while also keeping the gameplay videos you could attract and inspire so many more people than you have already. keep up the great work man!

I feel like June has been a fitness month for CZcamsrs. Many of the CZcamsrs I watch have started their fitness journeys or have started documenting their progress and it’s really cool lol. Makes me want to workout more. Keep up the great work man!

Hey Yub! Love that you are documenting your fitness journey, I have been watching you for years and it is great to see you expand your horizons and post this and welcome us into your fitness life. Just wanted to give you a fun tip for those cable calf raises. If you use the wedge that you used for the squat and flip it the other way (so the toes are on the highest point) that can give you a better calf stretch. You could also use a barbell for your calf raises with those wedges if you ever need more weight. Hope to see more fitness videos from you!

I've lifted for years and am about to get my son (huge YuB fan; he bought the beanie so he wouldn't be a weenie) into lifting. With a woman in my life long term, I dont lift for looks, I lift for power. To get stronger. Like you.
I have a wealth of knowledge in this arena. I would like to give you a few tips and a few pieces of brain food.
1) deadlift. Deadlift. Deadlift.
The conventional deadlift is by far the best movement for gaining strength. And contrary to popular belief, it is also one of the safest movements you can perform, especially if you use double-overhand grip. People also think its just a back exercise and that makes them derp. Deadlifting hits back, legs, glutes, shoulders, traps, forearms, hands, core and most importantly your CNS - central nervous system - which is what you really need to train to get strong.
2) More back work.
Simply put, you can find a strong guy with a weak back, but you'll never find a weak guy with a strong back. Loved seeing all the back work (pulling) you were doing. The cable machine for pull downs isn't great for strength, but is the best way to shape your back muscles because you can really narrow in on which muscle(s) you want to hit and grow.
3) if you are bro splitting, and give shoulders their own day and arms (biceps) their own day, tread lightly. Shoulders are the #1 joint that gets injured in the gym and the bicep is the #1 muscle when it comes to developing tendinitis. Keep them shoulders healthy.
You're a hard gainer (thin guy) so, like in the video you mentioned, you have to eat eat eat. Even empty calories like ice cream will help you. Over eating and sleep should be your 2 best friends.
The lifting is easy. That's fun. It's the sleep and diet that can be. difficult.
For strength, I found the best split to be pull/push/legs. My week was usually pull/push/legs/rest day/pull/push/rest day. That's especially good for deadlifting because you're fresh both pull days (48-72 hrs between the same movement days). So the week would be M- light deadlift, stiff legged deadlift, chest supported incline rows, pulley machine work. TU- bench press, incline chest press, chest flies, etc. W- squat (not too heavy if deadlifts will be heavy on friday, heavy if you're going for a rep-day with friday deadlifts) Split squats. Lunges. Th- rest. F- heavy deadlifts. Sa- Incline chest press, dips, decline chest press, basically chest work without the straight bar) Su- rest.
Stay safe in the gym. You can't lift through real injuries.
Stay focused in the gym. Have clear goals and shoot for them.
Recovery is important. Protein, copius amounts of water and good sleep help that.
Supplements are key. And no, not steroids. Creatine is a godsend to us natty lifters. I also loves a Supplement stack of vit D, magnesium, b12 and Zinc in the morning. Mag helps you not shake during heavy lifts. Zinc creates great blood flow, so zinc is also great for anyone to take if they have a wife.

You might be getting that back pain because your upper back isn't strong enough in relation to the weight you are squatting. You also do high bar squats (up on your traps) so maybe try low bar squats (find the area of separation between your lower traps and upper back.
Thx for the advice! I don’t usually deadlift often but maybe I’ll start? I do RDLs on hamstring day but that’s different. My split is pure chaos lol, it’s like a PPL/bro split hybrid, basically whatever isn’t sore that day. I try to hit legs as often as upper body which is why I split leg days into hamstring day & quad day. But im super disorganized with it which I think will really start to become obvious as my newbie gains start to taper off lol

duuuude fr love this type of video, been on my own fitness kick myself the past couple of years, it feels so good to feel yourself becoming stronger. smaller dudes ftw though!! i'm not even saying that as a sympathy thing bro, i personally like the calisthenics approach the best (which usually doesn't have the huge bulked-up look like Joey Swoll) because i think it's the most practical for other activities, like rock climbing, being more nimble, etc. idk. that's just me though :)) proud of you, man! keep up what feels good to you!
