Boeing 747-8F goes on roller coaster flight

  • A flight loads survey is often compared to a long roller coaster ride because of the sudden and dramatic ups and downs during the flight. And because of those extreme maneuvers, it is one of the most grueling tests for a new airplane, including those monitoring onboard.

"What if the wings snapped off?"
The wings are force-tested to destruction on the ground on other copies of the plane, so they know the wings can take many times more stress than they put on them in the air.

Fantastically more powerful, quieter, and even more efficient GE, Rolls-Royce, you got rick-rolled. I would be seriously concerned if an A380 did any of these maneuvers at maximum weight, so concerned I wouldn't be there. Think how many times this airframe has bee certified since the first in 1971?

KyKatRo That was my go to assumption... but im not sure how they would "exit" lol (yeah I thought about it a little too much) The reason I say that is unless they were able to get the plane at a jumpable height and speed, opening an emergency door would just suck them all out and to my knowledge, there's no rear hatch door. Ahhhh I wanna know!! hahaha!

The Boeing 747 has been, and still remains, the most beautiful Passenger aircraft in the world. Bar none. We have all seen the Airbus A380, inside and out. We have seen its capabilities and interiors and the whole deal. But is there really anyone out there that can say with a straight face that the A380 looks more beautiful than the Boeing 747? Okay, if you were a Limey or a Frog, from the EU, you might say the AirBus is #1. But, we know that would not be the reality. 747 Rules the skies!

@MrCriticOfAll Qantas pilots don't call them Scarebuses. It's known as the A180. You bring it out of maintenance and then do a 180 degree turn to tow it back into maintenance. Dispatch reliability of the A180's is woeful at best, and after the engine malfunction last year it looks like Nancy Bird Walton may be written off as it's proving difficult to get a dispensation to allow it to fly to Toulouse where both wings need replacement.

Alexis Carrington-Colby State of the art modern aircrafts have time and again breached the 'failsafe' system and i do not know how you can say 'they are prepared for such a situation'. Need not look further than engineering errors and also airline policy. For example, some video in here shows how an airline would recommend not loading the fuel tank in full resulting in vapour emanating from shallow fuel inside the tank coupled with sparks from worn-out copper insulation in the wiring beneath the tank which resulted in a 747 blown to smithereens in mid-air. So if something does go wrong I hope aviation industry/engineers would come up with something which would meaningfully tackle the current threats and make air travel a lot safer than it is now.

+flameout12345 It can. When flying through heavy turbulence, pilots reduce the speed so when encountering a heavy updraft that increases the angle of attack (and thus lift) the wing stalls due to too low speed so the additional load doesn't rip it off. And a China Airlines Boeing 747SP once prooved that it can handle abuse up to 6Gs and stil land safely (look up China Airlines Flight 006).

(Airbus is a European company) Also something to know is that the 747-8 is a fair amount bigger in length than the A380. This all comes to the question- What is THE biggest airplane in the world, not just passenger airplane? The answer to that would be the Russian-Ukrainian Antonov AN-225 Freighter.
