Thanks for the video, finally able to see how complex it is to mount/dismount the carrying system, seems like a lot of faffing around. I guess I don't understand why pannier hooks on one side and backpack straps on the OTHER side isn't more popular? It might look a touch less elegant but it'd be 100x more useful.
Totally agree! When I'm out and about, certainly in cold weather, and I've just filled my bag with "stuff"...there's no way I then want to wrestle with a bag removing harnesses and straps before attaching it to the bike. Way too much faff. The ORTLIEB VARIO PS QL2.1 however is an entirely different beast! It's exactly as you describe and converts in a matter of seconds. Super cool!
Hey, wouldnt it be possible to keep the back straps on the pack and just putting them in front of the pack to convert it faster? Because i dont want to fiddle with the attachment each time i swap from pannier to backpack after my commutes.
@@WatchWorkoutMatt hi, no I haven't bought the pack. I went for the newloox varo backpack. It's also a convertible one. But don't really like the concept after using it over the winter because the pack gets dirty at the bag while riding. When you put it on your back than you will get dirty.. I guess there are better alternatives out there
@@Drachen1x I'm so glad you mentioned that one. Hadn't seen it, but it looks really nice. Great point about winter riding... But I think I'd really like the versatility. How did you decide on Newloox over the Ortlieb pack? And are you able to mount it on the rack without removing the straps? I'm still trying to find an answer to that...
@@WatchWorkoutMatt just looked the design of the newloox. The mounting system is good, too. On the newloox you can remove the straps but it works fine by either stuffing them into the side pockets (while still attached) or just put them in the front and secure them with the cheststrap.

I was wondering the same thing. Did you figure it out?

Great review. Thanks.
is the sleeve inside padded at all? could it be used for a laptop? this could be a nice save bag for one..
Out of interest why did you buy two of these? Do you not just end up carting around 2 lots of shoulder harnesses?
Gracias...ok
