"Blackbird" OPB The Beatles.
Music Written by Sir Paul McCartney & John Lennon
This version of Blackbird was produced/ arranged/sung (singed?) by yours truly, please be kind on the upper harmony parts, I do my very best.
Audio Mix by The masterful Ed Boyer.
Thanks again for watching, keep looking for the light, & stay tuned...
BY THE WAY - I know I'm going to get a lot of comments about how I should open my mouth when I sing. YEAH YEAH YEAH, I get it. But my wife and I filmed this in my living room at night when my son was asleep so I was literally whispering this whole song (hence the very closed mouth). He kept waking up and yelling "DADDY, IS THAT BLACKBIRD!?" And I kept saying, "YES, NOW GO TO SLEEP OR THE TOILET MONSTERS WILL EAT YOU".
Toilet monsters are scary and they'll get you if you don't flush. Just saying. - Hudba
Thanks for all the kind words - you guys are the BEST! Stay tuned, there's something spooky coming soon...

Looking forward to it :)
Thank YOU for this! Look forward to seeing what comes next! 😊
I'll be waiting!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
YEEEESS! Keep it comming champ!
You're not a "baritone with a bass range"
You're *a man with a piano range*
I like this
He is a mutant. X-man.
I agree, as a baritone with bass range. There is a timbre difference when at full chest voice.
Tenor with bass range😭😭
Piano range?! I mean, this alien's low notes aren't even on the piano!
"so, what is your range?"
"Yes."
Hahaha
That's literally Dimash
"Yeos"*
He has a 4 octave range
Think about Roy Orbison and him doing songs together.
Starts his carreer as a piano player. Ends his carreer as a piano.
Hahaha
This is so underrated!
Best comment yet😁
🤣
He’s quitting music?!

Dimash has a range that won't quit but not this low. lol
Tim Foust has a 5 octave range.
@@kimjones600 yes!
Basses are so often overlooked (everyone loves them but rarely give them the melody).
Every voice part needs a champion ! Geoff gets my vote . Great musician, great voice and all round decent guy without an inflated ego complex. Quite rare these days.
Thicc notes best notes
This guy has truly been blessed with an outstanding vocal range! Well done. If music be the food of love, play on Geoff!
he calls himself a baritone with a large bass range, its insane!
In Georgian polyphonic singing, it is often the low voices that lead the melody.
He really is the most talented singer in the whole entire world.😮😮

I was thinking te same deamn thing! Yes, yes, yes!
Just watched this for the first time in 2023. That little lift on free was an amazing touch. It felt like the word was simultaneously floating and soaring. You gave this song such a gentle touch. My brain is conjuring up images of water the longer I think about the dynamics, like they are slowly dipping in and out of a deep, cool, calm pool in a distant cave; and languorously spreading echoing ripples.
Me, too. Your comment says it better than I could.
“Please be kind on the upper harmony parts, I do my best”
Are people seriously giving him grief? Where are they? I just wanna talk
I know right the upper harmonies were amazing if anyone is giving Geoff trouble about them then we need to have words and they probably need to have their ears checked
I wanna fight them haters
Yes. We can all "TALK" together. As a group. Surrounding the haters.

Geoff once said that when he composes for Voiceplay he makes tracks for all parts. He said it doesnt sound good but hearing this, my guess is that its amazing. Petition to release some of those Geoff only tracks.
There's a previs video of Trapped, on VoicePlay's Patreon. The audio is all Geoff, and the video is really funny. It's $5 to unlock that tier though, but it's so worth it. There are so many videos on there.
Agreed
I have become a MAJOR fan in the span of a week. It isn't just your voice. It's your arrangement skill; the raw creativity of it, the understanding of the soft touch not pushing too hard on songs that need delicacy; Blackbird is a fantastic example. I'm never not going to be fan.
I have become a Major Fan in the span of a 4-hour car ride. (Only 2 hrs into it!)
Right! I am addicted to this guys voice 😂
His range is very similar to Tim Foust's who is a 5 octave range
Jeff has extraordinary range. From his deepest bass to his highest tenor, he covers how many octaves? Such a gift!!
He's got to have a 5 octave range, I think.
@@smarterthan98 4 octaves 3.5 tones
D1-A5
Edit: he recently dropped a B0, which makes Geoffs updated range B0-A5, 1 tone from being 5 octaves.
But he said he can sing an A5 without really challenging himself, so theoretically Geoff might be able so squeeze out a B5 on a good day and this will make his range B0-B5 (on a really good day), which is 5 octaves
*Geoff*
Agreed!! His voice is AMAZING

I find his vocal range very impressive, but above all the volume of the lower notes - I've never heard anything so massive that didn't come from a synthesizer
Technology to give girls bass voices when tbh
No one can reach all those notes!
@@tobias240 his range is more impressive IMO, you have to keep in mind that the low notes are edited and EQ'ed, to judge them one would have to hear him irl
Johnny Cash's "Ghost riders in the sky" would be a perfect fit for this voice!

I completely agree!
Following the melodic version of The Shadows, so I can put them together and enjoy it forever. 😎

That's a combination of breast and head voice. This works only on low power, on silent songs like this. He couldn't cry in this range. But it still needs some training to make it sound seemless.
This song hits me hard core..... it’s like you telling me everything’s gonna be okay. And to be strong. And the past months... I have been fighting grief and depression and everything else with it..... and this... just hits me so much.

I don't think anyone else has commented about it, but about 2:10-2:12 there's this thing with the consonant "f" in "fly" that is staggered across the parts, it sounds like wings flapping and wow. Such subtle cool stuff is why it's worth listening to VoicePlay, Geoff, and others on repeat. I notice different things all the time.
Omg I never noticed that! That's brilliant!
Ok...just found Geoff. I'm sitting in a campsite in a National Forest and I'm literally the only person here. Sitting next to a bubbling stream. I love this song so I play it on my JBL speaker loud as it will go. I kid you not, a flock of crows fly over and land all around me in the trees while this song is playing!!! Flew away when it ended!! Yes I cried! This is a true story.💕😲

Geoff, I came this video while quarantining in my home office for COVID-19. I’ve been binge watching CZcams videos to keep myself occupied. I might not be able to smell or taste right now, but I can still hear. Anyway, I was looking for covers of Blackbird when I came upon your version. I think I now have a new favorite. It’s just magical. It also led me to discover VoicePlay. Before a few days ago, I had never seen anything by VoicePlay and now I’ve been binge watching every video. I think I woke up this morning with the base line to the Grinch in my head. I’m starting to think that maybe music is the best medicine. I know that what I’ve heard has made me forget about how lousy I feel, at least for a while. I just wanted to say thanks.
I hope you feel better soon!
@@GeoffCastellucci Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing your next video.

I had never heard of this guy, but I am classic rock fan. My 13 yr. old grandson was over this past weekend and was playing Geoff's videos and singing along with a bass voice. He blew me away. I had no idea that he could sing like that. He just started band this year and is playing keyboard and trumpet and excelling on both. I asked if anyone knows that he can sing like that and he said only 3 or 4 people know. I hope he shares it with his band teacher. He is very shy, and I am encouraging him to share it with others. What a gift. Geoff, thanks for sharing your gift on youtube. Apparently, my grandson watched your tutorials and was telling about how to sing the low notes. I am amazed that if a 13 yr. old can sing like that now, how much better will he be in a few years. Thanks again Geoff!!
3:35 made my chest vibrate and I’m only listening to this on headphones This guy is amazing. I hope we get more poetry readings! Invictus? That’s my favorite.
What a lovely falsetto Geoff has, absolutely divine. It seems no matter the register he sings divine. There are many other singers with a wide range but not that many that sound melodic across the range.
Yes, please do Sound of Silence and House of the Rising Sun.
I've just soft-landed from a very high mountain. This is mind-altering. Very rare.
Omg that was an awesome display of range
My grandfather just died tonight, and this song felt like the goodbye I couldn’t say to him. I’m so very sad.
I know how it feels to lose a grandparent - I lost my favorite (and only surviving) grandfather on March 4th, 1999 - just 3 days after I turned 18, my favorite grandmother in April 2002 - almost 2 months after I turned 21, & my other grandmother in February 2014 - when I was about to turn 33. It was the Farewell I never got a chance to give them. So, I know & I understand the pain you were feeling - because I was feeling it as well. 💔
Its hard to give you a thumbs up after reading that, seems the wrong sentiment to me so I'd rather comment with condolences. It's been some time now since your post. I sincerely hope time is helping. You know this song would be quite the send off. If and when it's my turn to greet eternity, if this is the song i step into the abyss with well, it'd be a great way to greet forever.
Mr. Castellucci., You have an unbelievable vocal range 4-4 12 octaves! BRAVO! You can do NO WRONG!
Watched this video in 2024. Im not surr if yall looked up Geoffs age, but he dose NOT look that old. I guessed maybe 28 years old.
Also the most important part.......just damn...... damn damn damn......amazing!!! Give it up for the one and only Geoff Castellucci 👏👏👏👏👏
That was really surprising. Bright, unusual chord choices. There was more than one moment when one of your choices pulled me out of the song for a sec and demanded to be appreciated. This is going to get a lot of re-listens before I feel like I've heard it properly.
I completely agree with you on that! The harmonic clashes are also really well complimented by the the way the keyboard sounds like a piano with the damper pedal down.
The overall arrangement has a really soft, warm sound even with all the clashes and chromatics, like being wrapped in a blanket (of course, that has a lot to do with the quality of the voice singing the parts, the sympathetic resonance from some of those low notes is amazing).
Watching this in 2023. You sir are an immense talent!!! Your range absolutely blew me away. I was just astounded at how effortlessly you maneuver through that range! Wonderful cover and I hope the world gets to hear much more from you!!! New sub!

Still one of my favorites. Can't believe it's been 3 years. ❤
wearing headphones when listening to this was the best decision I've made all year.
Without headphones, this song loses its quality.
And I mean QUALITY.
I played this for my mom, and her first comment was “I forgot how low he can sing.” Then you hit dem high notes and I thought she was going to fall over. And then you hit that feel-it-in-your-bones last note! Your range kills me dead, Geoff. Just amazing! Keep ‘em coming!
You brought back memories of my childhood... my dad sang this to me when I was little... he stopped when I turned 13... but I wish he didn’t... he hasn’t sung to me since then.
