- Best Inflatable Boat | Stryker Hunter Jet 420 | Living Off Grid - Boat Access Only - My New Garden is Starting! Black Fish Hollow is an 8 Acre property in British Columbia, Canada. The property is BOAT ACCESS ONLY. NicHolistic and I bought a used in-board boat which has a small living quarters on board but it's a powerful gas guzzler! This Inflatable Boat from Styker Boats in British Columbia just barely "sips" gas and uses about 5% of the fuel our larger "Tuk Tuk" boat uses! The Stryker Boat will be our primary mode of transportation as well as our companion for whale watching, scuba diving, free diving, fishing, recreation, and exploration! #garden #gardening #offgrid #permaculture #backyardgarden #boat #boating

For over nearly 10 years I grew a fruit tree, permaculture, garden, and native edible plant, herb, and raised bed garden food forest. You can still watch all the garden videos of my old desert garden in Arizona. I was born in British Columbia and I have returned to the Rain Forests of British Columbia to a "Raw Land" property to grow my 1st FULL EDIBLE FOOD FOREST Off Grid on a wilderness property. This climate is temperate and coastal, rarely seeing snow in the winter and highs in the 80's (30 Celsius) in the summer. It is a rare microclimate that spans from gardening zone 7-9. The property is 8 acres and completely overgrown, mostly with conifer trees. This area is a verifiable rain forest and situated in the Southwestern-most tip of the Canadian "Great Bear Rain Forest". NicHolistic ( / holisticnicole ) and I will be learning about edible seaweeds, edible native plants, edible mushrooms, and many other edible native trees/plants as we attempt to Build a Yurt, Draw Our Energy Clean, Live Off the Grid, and Grow an Epic Superfoods Garden and Fruit Tree Orchard. We will also have a lot of changes coming so get ready. More videos and BTS Clips at my VLOG channel / adventureswjakenicole

It's beautiful in British Columbia
Cool , you will make it.
You can kill the engine by pushing the red button as well vs tugging the tether off everytime
Excellent video!
A few hints that may be helpful:
1. A long shank lock thru the holes on the motor mount screws will not only deter theft but more importantly keep them from loosening from vibration and the pounding of waves to much so the motor doesn't take a swim.
2. if your going to use the kill lanyard, attach it to you. If you where to say hit a submerged log and get flipped out with it looped around your wrist you may go flying one way and the kill lanyard may go flying in the other direction and the motor wont start without it.
3. I never untie until the motor is running and warmed up. When you drift out it may not start, and with a little wind it might cause an unnecessary drama.
4. The fuel line should snap on without using the release. Listen for the click so you know that you have a good connection.
I have run boats to the size of mega yachts but the most fun is to be had on the smallest ones.
Red skies at night to you skipper!

After we have the boat in order, rain-proof garage, and Yurt completed....we can then start clearing and building the fruit tree orchard and garden bed center!
What was the source for the rain proof garage? I missed it.
Your photos remind me of views from my trip to Salt Spring Island. Oh I dream of buying land there.

Port is Left, Starboard is Right just FYI. Cool boat man. I need to order one.
I always remember Starboard is Right (S&R in the alphabet ) Port is left. Its that easy !
Before you order a stryker, check out the Zodiac futura, seriously
Jake, when installing the outboard and tightening the screws down you’ll notice holes in both handles of each screw. Point them both inward so they point towards each other. Use a master lock and thread it in the two holes. This keeps the screws from vibrating loose during normal use. Don’t want that beauty to dip in the sea. One last thing, read up on the maintenance for salt water, it can be pretty harsh on outboards vs fresh water. Enjoying the new adventure videos.
Also make sure to break in the outboard before full throttle.
Good advice, except for the master lock......much more secure padlocks out there ;)
We always used a short safety line to tether the motor to our Achilles inflatable in SE AK. Yes, it saved the motor a couple of times. I know more than one person that's seen their outboard sink out of sight.
@@deadfish86 yup i dont care what size outboard i get, even when i install it i tie it off with a strong cable incase i drop it while installing it or it vibrates loose

Port=left=even #'s (easy way to remember... they are all four letters)
Starboard=right=odd #'s=green light. Red light is port side (easy way to remember... port wine is red) 🤓👍
Short letter words = left, port, red Large letter words = right, starboard, green. That's the way I learned it.
The way I remember it is "Left is communists; the flag of the communists is read..." :-D

Jake, it’s so amazing to be watching y’all give everything your best and I am truly looking forward to seeing Blackfish come together!
The beauty of the shore line is just as I remember when my husband and I took our cruise many years ago from Vancouver to Juneau and back. Loved it then and now get to relive it with you two. What a joy after all these years. Good luck in your dream. Keep it alive. Don't let anyone take it from you or your joy in sharing your experiences both the good and the bad they will make you stronger in the end.

Thought this was pretty legit until 4:25 and saw the pants... you can't trust anybody's life choices if they wear pants like that.
Haha i thought the same thing!!
Measure a man not by the ridiculousness of his pants, but by the sensibility of his socks
Yea that caught me off guard. I thought he might of got attacked by a bear or something
@@Baitcasterbass ..I am sure he will latter..bears love vegan food meat.
Imagine giving a fuck what a person wears LOL what a fucking miserable life you have haha 😂
I’m excited to watch this journey unfold. Can’t wait for the building of the yurt! Of course the water transportation is incredibly important and loved watching the boat come alive. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Wow... what a beautiful place to live ... how awesome!
Hey Jake and Nicole. So cool that you guys got a Stryker boat. I have one and love it. I have a tip for you. I would recommend when idling your van try to get the rpms up to 1000-1100. This will prevent wet stacking. When you idle a diesel for long periods it doesn't create enough heat in the cylinder for a complete burn. Nothing good comes from that. When you have the heat on in the van you are taking away even more heat from the engine. In the summer high idle isn't required but in the winter it is recommended. I doubt your van has high idle so you can just cut a piece of wood to wedge between the front of the drivers seat and the gas pedal. This will also bring up the voltage in your alternator to help charge all your electronic devices. Obviously make sure you don't bump the transmission shifter into gear when doing this.
Kyle Hiebert Great suggestion Kyle… Thank you so much! We were already experiencing this and experimenting with rev’ing the RPMs! Great tips
Such a useful tip.
Maybe install a hand throttle?
This is so exciting I thought I was set for the live I need to check the time difference I’m n South Carolina originally from Harlem NY raised n the Bronx! One of my Sons want to move to Canda Last name Martin! Like WHET! Maybe a confirmation! Hmmm! I have learned so much from your channel with gardening n much more thank you so much!!!!
Wow how Beautiful, You two chose a choice place.hearing the geese in the background.
You are really great...A true inspiration.....Your words are very encouraging..... Please keep doing the goed work and keep motivating....God bless you always and forever!!!!
Looks beautiful and great job getting the boat together your first time! Can't wait to see your habitat in person!!
I am so stoked! I live in Seattle and couldn't do some of the stuff you did in your desert gardening videos. It'll be awesome to see what you do in a climate similar to mine. Pacific Northwest rocks, and you inspire me so much!
Such a peaceful ending to your video and day! Congrats. 2 days done! Keep it going and thx for sharing.
Love the new channel style everyone is coming out with a 2.0 of a fresh start to there channel amazing, love it. Peace and love, God Bless, and namaste.
Hi Jake, I was very impressed to see you assemble your inflatable on a cold day. At my age I would have needed a box of Bandaids to have put my Avon together. Cheap insurance is to tie a short rope to the motor bracket and transom before removing or replacing the motor. Very good job on your video!!!
I live in the UK and many of us here work a whole year looking forward to a holiday in the sun, usually Spain but for me, THIS video represents my idea of a dream destination. Thanks for sharing your life style with us.
You guys are amazing!!! I can't wait for your next series of videos !!!👍🌹🤩 best of good luck !!
So awesome to see you back on CZcams regularly. Still looking forward to the travel videos, but this new adventure will be great to see as you build it!
Thank you! The travel videos from India are insane! Coming soon!
Its blessing to watch you blessed😃

Thank you!

It’s gorgeous! Good luck you two!
Freaking awesome! I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty envious of ya'll right now lol my goal is to have some land in the middle of nowhere Tennessee and live off grid as well. Looking forward to the journey!
Nice vid bro. I'm buying a 12 ft inflatable zodiac style and stumbled apon this. I enjoyed watching you put the inflatable together and mount the engine. I also learned a few things from comment section, but at the same time as I'm not on social media it never ceases to amaze me how many ppl find something negative or snarky to say... I never have understood that.
Enjoy your adventure!!
Oh, and I too got divorced last year and had to leave all my gardens and fruit trees behind. It sucks but even more exciting that I get to build something better this time
The scenery reminds me of where I live in Ontario. We live on the water on boat from spring until fall. We have the same picturesque nature surounded by msny conifer trees. Magical .
You two are living the dream!
Congratulations!!
Wow! Beautiful, being in nature is so peaceful no matter what the weather is it's a fun challenge. Enjoy.
Wow 👍 ... This is amazing being able 2 watch you build a life out of an uncleared forest ! ... Good luck guys... 💙
.
Very happy for you both!
Learn me some things. Glad you and Nicole are sharing it all. Thank you for great videos. I am sure it will help us all. Stay warm and safe. Much love. Really nice video! From Limestone, Maine. USA.
Wow, I seen all that seaweed which is great for your garden. I am so happy for you guys living your best life.
This is gonna be my favorite series on youtube, keep them coming please :)
It’s a good idea to attach a steel cable from the transom to the engine for safety, just in case..
It’s So Beautiful and you look so Happy
Oh my, your new adventure is so many things.... parts are terrifying because it's new and so different but also exciting ... for the same reasons. Nicole honey, I think you will look back some day and go "Jake, I am glad I took the lunge and did this with you." I say this from experience... ran off on an incredible adventure with my honey 20 years ago at age 50. Walked the Appalachian Trail, lived on Lake Chapala Mexico, and traveled the country in a 5th wheel for 6 years. All totally new and different. Good times. Best wishes to both of you and thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Love you Babe!!!
I am so freaking jealous of you but I'm quite happy for you I can always live vicariously through you and your videos PS it yourself a tiny would burning stove you'll be happy you did
man i really wanna live like this
Live the dream ! I spent 3 hours of my day in traffic today what a waste, I envy you I in a good way ,Jake love you man make it happen !
What a breathtaking place that is your home. Loving your journey and your passion. You are both inspiring many. Best future off-grid wishes, from Victoria, Australia.
Don't forget to break-in the motor!
I was wondering about that!
@@kentwood9821 Those require a long break in too. 10 min idling then 8 hours of 1/2 and 3/4 throttle
yeah going full speed out of the box is a great way to kill a new motor
I've been watching and following you for a while now I'm excited to follow you through your next journey in life I also plan on getting land and living off the grid and living off the land
It’s hard to beat a good inflatable boat. Mine puts me in my happy place. Except for shallow rocky water. That keeps me on edge! So fun, simple, easy to store, tow and launch. We’ve got a 20 hp four stroke, and it just sips fuel. My work has a Stryker down in the Edmonton office. My personal boat I run in Yellowknife is a Mercury Adventure 340. Love zipping along to a secluded spot. Take care out there.
25 hp jet iutbardcsioß gas
I wish I was as resourceful as You are. You know how to build everything!
Have been watching you for a long time. Never would have thought you would move to the woods. It will be fun too watch I think.
I’m in love. More more more
Very cool!!! I wish I could do that with the family. Maybe one day. Loving the videos
Great work, they always taught us to Start the engine before undocking , this way if you have engine problems you don’t have to peddle back . It makes more sense on bigger boats but it’s always good to follow good practice . What zone are you in ? Keep up the good work .
It's so freaking beautiful
I agree!
I think you are doing a pretty good job as a first time boat builder.
hey jake, one tip for your cutting board. apply some coatings of tung oil on it. it'll make clean up waaay easier, as it makes the surface waterproof, saving time and water.
I think you going to make this place a tourist attraction. It looks great beautiful.
It's rain a lot can you get wild mushrooms for food. Fiddle head. And wild edibles plant to eat.
So impressive! What a place to live, you have so much land!
I just found this account, and previously was looking for a good fishing boat. This help so much can’t wait to watch more videos.
Nice one thank you for your video
OMG! What a thrill! Thanks for sharing!
Nice work! Just a tip try not to put oil or fuel while on the water! Also I might have missed it but you might want to make sure your outboard motor has a safety cable or chain so if you hit a submerged log ,or boulder you won't lose your motor into the drink! Enjoyed the video! Thanks again Sixshotsteve
I’ve watched this several times and love the content. I have been apprehensive and thinking about this boat for a Canadian fishing trips I’m curious how it has held up?
thank you from turkey, good luck.
I just ordered a Styker 420 pro with a 25 horse power mercury jet motor. Thanks for showing how to set it up.
Looking forward to your next video... watching you from PHOENIX!!
Wow that was so beautiful I live in in NY go to work in time square everyday I'm so sad , and watching you guys made me feel I was right there with you absorbing every second of your footage thinking where did I go wrong .
Thank you for making me escape into your world by your video
Bye,
Can't believe you put the motor on the transom while the boat was in the water. I'm glad it worked out. You picked a great outboard.
Very nice and natural.
hi jake
i watched your martial art videos a while back and i was very impressed i utilised some of your techniques to increase my striking abilities. good to see you now with your new videos. i liked this boating video and about ur new home. i was just thinking that in certain conditions when you are alone in that stryker you might need an extended accelerator with certain wind you need to be close to the front, better visibility and more speed in choppy water
jake for president lol
I love your courage to do this! You are an inspiration.
Stephanie Seay Thank you Stephanie!
thank you so much for this nice video i was feeling like if it was my experience i was really excited
Well done man...as a new guy to boats you were learning quick..great job and video
This is such a great adventure you two are embarking on! I hope you start adding fish to your diet! I want to see some fishing - ha.
the scenery is so beautiful
Another amazing video
Jake you will definitely have my support on your channel
Thanks for sharing
Have a great night

Hello from Scotland :) Great video, Thank you
Love u guys, amazing so beautiful!
So awesome and exciting!!
I love the boat and you chose a beautiful place to live.
Thank you guys ,it was an osome tutorial
Fun video! Cracked me up though at 8:55 lol you Canadians and your "cutting tools".
Captain Jake Sparrow lol👍
Great video and scenery - so beautiful, you are blessed to live in BC! I love the boat. But I am a hunter and fisherman, live in New Zealand.
It's so beautiful
How exciting...thanks!
Hey! Really enjoy your channel! I am just getting into inflatables, and I’ve seen Stryker before. About how much does your “rig” with the motor run for? New to boating so don’t wanna bite off too much to begin. Appreciate it! You have a great great thing going up there and a wonderful life!
You made that look so easy great job👍
You are a very lucky couple. That is some beautiful country.
It's so very beautiful!
Pro tip: Start the motor before untying and leaving the dock. Nice boat. Thanks for the unboxing vid.
OG tree-ple here. Another fantastic video. Thanks Jake and Nicole for inspiring others. 👍
