Tosti: Sogno For Solo Piano in C major (Resident Evil Village Style)

- In the newly released game Resident Evil Village, the protagonist Ethan Winters stops by Castle Dimitrescu in Romania and casually plays the popular Italian song on piano.
Sadly, Lady Dimitrescu only prepared the first 2 pages for him so I had to complete the rest of the transcription starting from bar 23 by myself.
* The interval between the first 2 notes of the theme should be diminished fourth (G# instead of G) according to Tosti's original, however Capcom opted to make it rather simple as seen here.
* The aforementioned first 2 pages (from bar 1 to bar 22) are identical to those in the Opera Hall.
* There is no tempo indication in the "score" therefore I left it out.
* Typographical errors in bar 3 and bar 26 have been corrected and PDF is now updated.
* "Authentic Version", in a way that the second verse corresponds with the in-game audio which plays after the piano puzzle is solved, is now added to Download.

does reading musical note and simultaneously playing the piano is impossible? im not into piano so this makes me curious
@@rattled1557 not impossible, but it takes work. Imagine reading out loud, for example: when you were a kid, you probably started by slowly understanding how each letter sounded and how they form a word when combined. The sentence all together probably didn't make much sense, but you were practicing reading. Once it's a "second nature" thing, you can just look at it and the sentence itself will make sense, without reading it syllable by syllable. It works about the same way for sight reading: with practice, you will barely have to look at your hands because of muscle memory, and you can solely focus on reading the sheet. I hope this answer helps a little, I am actually not a good sight reader 😅

Even experienced players do make mistakes sometime when sight reading for the first time, so yeah...it would be impressive for a guy that had both his hand severed a couple of times by this point. To add even more, the lower part is usually played with the left hand. I think we both know what happened to it

As a classical musician who has never seen or played resident evil, it sounds lovely. I can't imagine this in a horror game, or rather, I can't imagine this making me feel more scared ever.
Because the horror part of this game isn't Lady Dimitrescu's castle, but Angie's dollhouse with that baby
The series is well-known for it's association with the Moonlight Sonata. Stemming from a puzzle in the original game where someone had to play the song on piano to open a door, it was popular enough to feature in a trailer for the original game's remake.

They say that this song is about longing/yearning for something/someone, and it always makes me think what lady d is longing for. Could be that this is one of her fave pieces, either she teach the music to her daughters or plays it with them...

@@Quirderph It's actually all an act. In truth she's rather unhappy. One of her diary notes hints at a huge superiority complex and wanting desperately to be Mother Miranda's favorite.
My theory is she's longing for daughters, hence Miranda gave her three daughters.
@@JayceeCordova Dimitrescu herself made her daughters when she did experiments with Cadou. There’s a file about it in her castle, I think. She made her daughters from corpses covered with insects. (That explains why they a bunch of bugs follow all of them.)

Soo beautiful 🥺, if the lady dimitrescu had a piano she obviously educated her daughters and made sure they had lady like manners in some way, even thou the game doesn't show it, plus there is a huge library in the section of the castle that Daniela is in.

Really easy to play, too bad in game we were able only to play few notes and not play it again. I did a video on whole castle episode on my channel. As a former pianist it was very cool to take part in such a activity in this beautiful game. Very nice that you did an video on full song.

damn I'm not even surprised Ethan can play this good, my piano teacher was able to teach and play piano with only 5 fingers, two on his left and three on his right, grant it his condition got better and he can play with eight now, but still,
Actually that's really cool. The left hand is playing the typical 6/8 run where the emphasis is on the 4th beat and what gives it that kind of skippy rhythm. But the right hand is really playing in 3/4 at cut time because each 8th note is divided pretty evenly as though all the 8ths have the beat and the quarters feel like the syncopated rhythms.
By having the main beats of both lines not sync up all that well, its almost as if the lines are falling over each other trying to outrun the other which is why it sounds light and bouncy.

I wish I could read music. None of these dots have ever made any sense to me. I even took music class in highschool and was only more confused.
Yeah same. I mean reading music is pretty easy when you have a legend and a pencil to write down notes, but sight reading is a nightmare.

Dude search on CZcams, the internet is literally at the palm of your hands and the information is free. You can learn this in a year or two after studying and practicing. This is a bit hard for beginners. If surfing the web is too time consuming, then hire a teacher.

It was all nice and peaceful until i remembered the game it was featured in and how it went in the back ground of this "peaceful" music.
Ethan is playing in 6/8. It's not incredibly difficult to sight read because you already know how 6/8 feels, but playing it to tempo with good intonation is hard.

to those curious, i recently found something on tiktok explaining the lyrics behind this song which specifically hints to “longing for a woman” almost. theoretically i’d say this longing is perhaps for daughters, but maybe even a lover? (coming from a lesbian.. i’d totally go for the lover part.) lots of hints in the game point to both femininity and women, plus lady-d regarding men as nothing more than stupid things to be consumed and then disregarded. perhaps our glorious giantess is an edwardian lesbian?
