  • Darn, I don't think this is going to end well for this boat owner! I tried to be honest with the owner like 2 months ago more time and money is being spent on this boat and they are way over their head. You can only do so much! We also did some routine engine maintenance and followed up with the Starlink Satellite installation.

Sometimes we just have to face the fact that we can only do SO much for clients! But, if they don't want to be honest with themselves its up to them we try our best to be honest about the condition of their boat especially if money is tight and they are struggling. How have you handled such situations in our own life or business? As they say sometimes the "Truth Hurts"

Have had some issues with 5200 in the past, but this is rare in my experience. Never found any other product I trust as much below the waterline, though. My biggest gripe about it is that if you're not very careful about cleanup, you will have 5200 on everything you own before the end of the day!

Yes, I have had 5200 not cure. What a mess to remove. I do have better luck with the fast cure. It must have a harder in it. I speculate that is all goes back to EPA regulations that cause everything that worked well years ago now to be of poorer quality….

I have had trouble with 5200 taking a long time to set up. I have learned to give it at least 48 hours to cure. If you don’t give it that long your are going to have a problem if you’re submerging it. If it is out of the water then given enough time it will cure and when it does cure it’s be best adhesive I ever used.

Eventually I would think, it comes down to a moral decision. "Ma'am, because of the condition of your boat, that I have told you is in a very poor state, I can no longer, in good moral conscience, continue to take your good money and waist it away on this bottomless pit of never ending repairs. Therefore, (your company), will no longer provide you service and repair on this vessel. As I have said before, you should sell the boat and get out of it what you can before it looses all of it remaining value."
Tough but honest and pray she doesn't turn to another, less reputable shop, to make repairs. If she does, that is no longer in your wheelhouse to worry about.
Good luck. Lots prayers. Maybe you should try to speak to someone else in the family.

@@WillFixThat I certainly got the impression you folks are customer oriented and do quality work. Perhaps the company is having quality control problems with the 5200 product. Many of the component materials our manufacturers are now using are sourced from offshore suppliers and who knows what is in that stuff? By the way I was a City Manager for over 40 years and we equipped our water and sewer plants as well as our pump-stations with devices to “soft start” or phase start the pumps. When several high hp electric pumps kick on the demand meter jumps, and phasing or “soft starting” saved us on the electric bill and maintenance and repairs from spikes and surges.
