    Hi. Very helpful video. Thanks. Can you please explain where did you place the gps receiver? Is it inside the cover behind the steering wheel? Does it work fine if it is covered?

      Hi, yes, the gps receiver is inside the cover of the dashboard. the gps works fine with no issues.

    Is this all plug and play or was there extra wiring to do?

    Great video, I am planning to do the very same to my auris as well 😀. BTW, is your camera wired to the multimedia system? If so, how did you pass the cable through? If it's not difficult, I could spare a few coins not buying a 2.4GHz receiver emitter combo hahaha.

      I ran the wire from the camera,
      through the rubber grommet next to the hatch hinge,
      down the side where the tail lights are,
      through the side where the seat belts are,
      then along the bottom side under the inside plastic covers (follow the stock wiring channels already there),
      then up the side kick panel and behind the glove box
      and into the Head Unit.
      Hope that helps ;)

      Thanks a bunch! I hope I will be handy enough to do it all hahaha. Ah, do you know if it is it better to wire the pass the video cable through the steering wheel side or the other? I'm dealing with a Spanish Toyota here, with the wheel on the other side 😵

      @itchygoat3344 Před 8 lety

      +Gonzalo del Moral I don't think it matters as there are wire channels on both sides. I did it on the left because it was easier for me to take out the glove box and run the wires through there and access the back of the head unit :)

    can the gps receiver be installed somewhere else, like were the air vents are?

    • @itchygoat
      @itchygoat  Před 7 lety +1

      Yes you can, if your car is not the Levin version. My version is the Levin and there is a vent that blows upwards so there's no room for the gps module there.

    Hey I need to replace the Japanese touch screen unit off a 2009 Toyota Auris (ZRE152H 180G) same interior as your Auris RS. Do you recommend which brand of stereo, what is yours? Would I still able to use the factory reverse camera? with the directional function with the steering? Thanks Chris

      @itchygoat3344 Před 10 lety +1

      Hi Chris,
      I'd recommend the new pioneer range with carplay integration like the Pioneer AVIC-4000NEX or higher.
      www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/DVD-Receivers/AVH-4000NEX
      Most entertainment units have the reverse camera integration. I regret buying cheap ebay all-in-one units because I've had nothing but trouble with this one, but here's the link anyways:

      The time defaults to the chinese clock time, and only after 5 mins of driving it changes to the correct local time. The tv doesn't work. the gps no longer works, and when it did work, you can only play the radio without presets, only scan function, the bluetooth phone volume is super low so to hear it you have to have the volume really high, even setting it louder on my phone didn't help, then once your finished the call, the music kicks in and deafens you, The radio signal seemst o be weaker than stock unit. the shuffle is not shuffle, it plays the first song, the last song the middle song and so on, its so predictable that on shuffle i already know what's comming up next, so now i only use it for radio and reverse camera. and some other small details, not defects but bad operating system programming
      Hope that helps,
