- The Pitch by Jeremy Front was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2004.
Story:
Comedy Drama: An ageing writer has turned out a series of successful sitcoms but is now running out of ideas. He visits his agent to try out a new one, but he fails and is passed on to the agent's assistant…….
An early Jeremy Front piece and not up to the standard of his later work, though it could be due to my dislike of Richard Briers.......
You can't go wrong with Richard Briers. Excellent. Thank you "Arch" ❤
Love Richard Briers, always makes me feel snuggy n cosy!
A VERY GOOD SCRIPT. A LESSON TO BE HAD. RECORD EVERYTHING. WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW. DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN EITHER DIRECTION.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👍😊! Love to smile and laugh out loud, and Richard Brier was fabulous at comedy theatre, and doesn’t disappoint in this production!
Brilliant can you please get more of this I loved it thanks arch
Absolutely love Richard Briers. Not only a fantastic comedy actor, but he was known for being incredibly generous and kind. He also did a fantastic dramatic turn in Inspector Morse.
Thanks, Arch!
I knew instantly I would like this! Sarcastic humorous shots all the way through! Thanks Arch! 👍. Don’t listen to any negative comments please. I want more of this! ❤️
Many thanks! Always liked some of BBC's radio drama and comedy. Middle class navel-gazing was one of the things that turned me away from Auntie but it was well written and performed.
I like Front & I enjoyed this vm! The only thing that didnt sit well w/me was the age of the character. I mean he's "middle aged" if his life expectancy is 140. LOL Tysm Archie B.! We all could use more comedy. Laughter scares germs yall! (]8
brilliant. I was chuckling all the way thro and the pace and timing of the actors was superb.
Great play
Brilliant!! love Richard Briers. More of this thanks 😂
Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Radio tells a better story than a film because it allows for a greater imagination by the listener.
As a kid, I remember looking forward to The Good Life every week on TV. Truth be told, it was probably to drool over Felicity Kendal, but the whole cast was brilliant. I don’t know how she put up with RB. She was the woman you dreamed was your neighbor. An expat in S Florida.
I loved Penelope Keith in this and, of course, Paul Eddington - it was a brilliant series.
Thank you!
What is it you don't like about Briers Arch?
Late in the day, thank you for the upload, I so curious what it is that you don’t like about Richard Briers😀
Very entertaining 😁
Never have acquired a taste for Briers. But the upload is much appreciated none the less. That opening music. I know it. I’ve heard it many times before. But it’s been quite some time. It’s from one of the comedy programs but I’m at a loss as to which one. Anyone care to enlighten me? Thanks in advance.
Bodegabreath 558 I think it’s from The Italian Girl in Algiers by Rossini.
Susan Ruiz
Could very well be. But if so, it’s also from a TV British comedy series. I’ve never heard of the Rossini work. My loss. Thank you.

Loved this more please and many thanks xxxx
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I find Briers extreemly irritating but it's hard to actually dislike him.
It's the irritation in spite of oneself that makes it funny.
Oh dear! Predictable. I could have paraphrased the script im advance. Typical bldy Briers.
Is that Rebecca Front we can hear? Love the Fronts, talented duo! I’m not a fan of snapping-stuttery Briers at all, that plummy pompous accent is really dated now.
Slightly mean comment, Richard Briers was a national treasure, his accent was of it's time
Agree about Briers. Rebecca Front is terrific, didn’t think about a Mr Front.
Having said that I loved this play. 🙂
Love Richard B...loathe & despise Arch S's disrespect of him.
Me too - Richard Briars. Annoys the sh*t out of me. I tried to ignore the fact it's him and get involved ; BUT , everytime i hear his irritating self assured, rapid-fire, arrogant bumbling rhetoric, I'm so distracted by my general dislike of the man , I forget what I'm listening to. I cant listen to this Arch - but I know you understand ha ha* Richard Briars is like "listening to paint dry."
@@flotinaway7 - yeah ; but look at the rest of the cast in Good Life ; all superb. + the fanciable aspect of Felicity Kendall - even as a little boy I thought her compellingly attractive ha ha.
Who is Richard Bries and why is he so divisive? These comments are a trip. 🙃
Richard Briars - 1970's tv comedy actor. His general character - dissatisfied grumbly sexist who always has to try tooo hard but dithers through petty trials and tribulations. Hancock stylie - assuming you know how irritating Tony Hancock is/was - possibly not. Well worth listening to Hancock's Half Hour -once- as a challenge to gauge how much inane humourless drivel you can sustain before destroying something* - ps : It's repeated endlessly on BBC Radio 4Extra if you fancy ruining your pleasant frame of mind for "a laugh."
I adore Richard Briers. I didn't like the material.
You've just blundered into Piers Morgan territory: dislike Richard Briers...... I'm too distressed to even unsubscribe you! 🛌😨
I think Richard Briers saved it. Pointless, unfunny, one-dimensional.
.....I guess I didn't like it. ;)
As the insightful play puts on full display, one man’s meat is another man’s poison! I loved it!
Yeah . Typical Jeremy Front .
Painfully unfunny . ! How on earth he has been commissioned so many times by the BBC is a mystery.
Utter crap.
WTF wrote this so called script.
How on earth was this ever recorded.
I feel I should like Briers for the Good Life but they weren't the stars of that. He was v one dimensional. Thanks Archie
He isn't/ wasn't ' one dimensional ' ....eg The Master in Morse ...and The evil priest in Midsommer ....
Wonderful. Richard Briers turns everything he touches into gold.
