      hey bro a few years back i screwed up and jacked my pops tiller up bad but 4 sure fixable. I basically was in front of the concrete wall in the garden like 5 feet away and crasged head on into gave her to much power and that fan thing in the front like the cover bent and when u pull the string now u can hear the crookeed messed p fan scratching on the inside. Seems like a new cover and inner fan is needed. Any help or part info will be appriciated!!!

    I bought a Bronco about 10 years ago. Spent about 5 hours tilling different 20x25 foot gardens with it. Never failed. We change oil every year and always put treated gas into it. It falls into a best investment category for us.

    Those tines are whipping sooo fast, you can hear the wind it generates....even when it's off...:)

    My dad had one similar that worked like a champ for years. They made them more hefty back then though I think. It will come in handy. For wind noise I have not tried it yet but I have been told that putting a little band-aid over the mic will help eliminate wind noise.

    • @KeepingItDutch
      @KeepingItDutch  Před 8 lety +1

      I'll have to try that, we don't have many trees on our place so the wind is terrible, thanks for the idea. the tiller works great just a little flimsy

  • @TennesseeHomestead
    @TennesseeHomestead Před 8 lety +2

    I have a a old White with a transmission for forward and reverse, but the neutral makes it great to spin around to start a new pass. A earlier comment is correct about the directional tires, might help some with the control. Good video.

    Tighten the bolts and it should be solid again. I just rented one and it works alright like your saying as far as the till results. It's pretty sturdy though the one I rented. I'm tilling a huge area with it to and it's working pretty good. I have to make a lot of passes though the area is rough. For the value it's a pretty good tiller. Thanks for the video I enjoyed watching it 👈

  • @KenVanDoren
    @KenVanDoren Před 7 lety +7

    Flimsy? I own one and am extremely happy. Want a horse? They make a tiller that costs 3 X as much, that is more solidly built. I see this tiller as a "best buy," especially if you are not into tilling acres and acres. I do bout 4000 square feet BTW, and could not be happier with my investment.

    • @tnoutdoordudes
      @tnoutdoordudes Před 5 lety +1

      How long does it take you to till 4000 square feet with the super bronco ? Just curious to compare it with replacing my old front tine

  • @charlescoker7752
    @charlescoker7752 Před 2 lety

    Every video showing using a tiller have the tire treads pointing in the different direction. Does it pull better in the direction you have them in?

  • @alanappleby704
    @alanappleby704 Před 6 lety +4

    • @kdiddy1310
      @kdiddy1310 Před 4 lety +2

      Yea i just bought one. It does the same thing. Im just guessing its because the ground is too hard and youre pushing down too hard on the tines. Gotta break it up slowly, make several passes. At least thats my yard. Hope that helps

      @@KeepingItDutch sounds like you have a Forward Rotating model. They made both. I have two Ponies that are forward rotating and if they hit a root or some really tough ground, they will shoot forward like a rodeo bronc out of the chute. I have several horse models all which have forward rotating tines but at 350 lbs, they don't jump around at all. I also have a Super Bronco with the engine changed over to a Honda. I keep it for the way the counter rotating tines can fluff the soil.

  • @richardewilliams1228
    @richardewilliams1228 Před 7 lety +5

    I bought a 1971 horse1 for $250 with a weak engine and the seals and gaskets had no signs of leaks.
    I replaced the engine ($100 Harbor freight) reversing disc, belts for another $100.
    For around $500 invested total I have a tiller that will out last me or anything made now.

    • @wayneminor5559
      @wayneminor5559 Před 3 lety

      Richard, My first TB was a Pony given to me secondhand. It had carb problems I never got passed so I put on a Honda engine but no longer had reverse due to it only being a single output shaft. I have since those years, moved the Honda over to a Super Bronco I picked up with a crappy Briggs engine. Over the last two years, I bought four Horse Tillers. One had a Greyhound import engine and On two of them, I put on a Harbor Freight Predator engine. The fourth one will have a Predator on it soon. I am tiller poor but I doubt I will ever not be able to till UNLESS it's too wet.

  • @ItsyFarm
    @ItsyFarm Před 8 lety +1

    I thought I wanted a tiller with counter rotating tines...until I got one! No problem if you're just "scratching the surface", but when I set it to go deeper, (especially in moist or wet ground) the counter rotating tines just push the dirt up into the wheels and the tiller becomes very hard to control. I also noticed that in your video at about 3:57 or so. I have a Husqvarna that cranks on the first pull almost every time, but the counter rotating tines are aggravating!!

    • @KeepingItDutch
      @KeepingItDutch  Před 8 lety +1

    I liked your review on the Troy-Bilt. I have one that is a little different from yours mine has a reverse reverse cable and it is really handy when backing up and turning corners. Mine is very sturdily built and is very solid I believe. I think mine is a different level of Troy-Bilt then that one.

  • @andrewjones3706
    @andrewjones3706 Před 4 lety

  • @OkieRob
    @OkieRob Před 8 lety +1

    • @eugenewilliams4374
      @eugenewilliams4374 Před 7 lety +2

      The tire tread is directional. As sent from the manufacturer the wheels have one valve stem facing out and one facing in and inaccessible. To correct this oversight thetire needs removed from the wheel and reversed.

    took my 8 horse to big -r to have a belt put on . three weeks went by and they never called me, I had to contact them . it seems it was robbed and they took my troybilt tiller . they replaced it with the same tiller you have . my old tiller would litter take only two fingers to operate . the bronco I have now, you literally have to push , the wheels are much smaller , and like you said , the whole shebang is flimsy . troybilt is literally nothing but a namebrand for cheap junk . what was once a standard by which , all was judged , is now junk . I have noticed their machines have disappeared from farm and home , and big-r .

    I bought a "real" Troy-Bilt Pony made in the 80"s. It is awesome. It has fwd and rvs tines, uses a lever to engage and disengage to drive wheels inside the transmission, not pins, and weighs about #170. I just bought the one you reviewed and it is made by MTD using Troy-Bilt naming. It does OK but it is nowhere near the quality or durability of the real Troy-Bilt. If you want one that will last, don't buy a new Troy-Bilt. Buy a good used one and it will last forever. you can re-engine a used tiller for cheaper than a new tiller. www.smallenginewarehouse.com
