I think too many people concentrate on the camera and don't learn the lens. Force yourself to stick to one lens for an entire personal project and you will open the mind. Challenge 1 lens no matter what and then things start to get serious.
I have an FX30 as my main A cam right now and I love it, but will definitely grab the FX3 when budget allows and bump it to B cam. That low light performance is just 🔥
its just to expensive for what it is . in my home country germany it costs 4500 euros. i cant justify this kind of expense if a lumix s5x for 2400 exists.
Dude it’s an insane camera but just like with every camera, you have to know how to use it and understand its strength and weaknesses. i’ve had it for a couple months now and I can tell if you get good with this camera, this could be the only camera you need for the next 5 to 10 years. lol it’s crazy

I agree with what you said about Black magic. They really do have a superior image, but cameras like the c70 and Fx3 are just better (solo) run and gun cameras.
Exactly! It’s just working for the YT algorithm but not for users. In the end, users just skip most content and it doesn’t work well for the Content Creator eventually because that’s what YT algorithm also picks up!😂
My only issue with the fx3 is the in between ISO 800-12800… after 800 I’m bumping to 12800 and having to use an ND filter hella annoying! I wish 2nd base iso was 6400 or 8000 🤷🏽♂️…. Nobody really talks about this in their review videos either
Love this, great combo! Similar to mine. I have URSA 4.6K g2, no 12k but love that it shoots ProRes. Also have Sony a7s3 and between the two, I’ve always had everything I need. I’d have fx3 if it came out before I bought my a7s3, but they’re just so similar that I haven’t justified the upgrade. Great video and great advice. Thanks for sharing.

I'm out in west texas and these outdoor weddings SUCK. kept having overheat issues. which, i don't think you mentioned in your vid. the FANS are dope.
The choice between the FX3 and FX30 is killing me - they're both such awesome cameras! The FX3 and FX30 both seem amazing, but I'm struggling to choose.
I shoot a lot of content in low light and the FX30 suffers in that area. Even when using low light capable lenses, you'll still have a hard time. But if you aren't shooting in low light often, I would save money and get the FX30. Use the difference you save to invest in audio, lighting and better glass.
I've been thinking about the FX3 for some time now. But, now with the release of DJI's Focus Pro system, I can now look at the BMCC6K has a viable choice. Having worked with BRAW before with the BMPCC4K, I really came to love that codec. For about the same price as the FX3, I can get the BMCC6K and the DJI Focus Pro. Giving the BMCC6K the feature of autofocus. The DJI Focus Pro uses lidar, which is even more accurate than most mirrorless cameras with built in AF, especially in low light situations.
Ive heard that many fx3 users are having issues with the firmware updates and accuse sony of purposely bricking their cameras and disabling some functions. Did you ever update the fx3 and if so how much better is it than the default firmware?
Just got this camera recently. Was surprised that it doesn't have PP7, PP8, or PP9. Instead, you have to use CINE EI to be able to shoot in s-log. What picture profile do use use on fx3, and do you prefer to shoot s-log, or do you shoot directly with s-709?
I hope FX3 II gets ratios for anamorphics like 3:2 or 4:3 or 6:5 opengate, its the only reason I aint getting a FX3, internal prores hq and LT would also be expected
i got the fx30 for client work, stuff like set up interviews, it's still good at low light but obviously needs a touch of NR but i'm also buying the ZVE1 for the similar reason as you, although mine is more budget oriented ,i'm sure the results won't be worlds apart

i mean obviously we're team overkill on run and gun. but also - those run and gun clients of mine are still using all my miami music week footage from the last 3 years in all their ads right now for this season. for me, that was enough to force me to blackmagic. if my clients are repurposing my old footage, i want it to stand up to future standards, so i want that raw file. you'll never get me on team sony, but this is the only model i would use if it were given to me. not a fan of the skin tones. i remember your last video about the comparisons. i'm using my red mostly lately, i use the bm for cheaper clients and b cam. my girl shoots a lot with us, she's on sony, so i just made conversion powergrades in resolve to make matching quick - but holy fuck is that blackmagic giving me carpal tunnel for some of these shoots. my actual HANDS hurt after a shoot. not sure if you saw the nexus design, but thomas is working with blackmagic to basically give us the pocket in a red komodo body, as it should have been. def worth checking out i'm waiting for the release to convert my other bmpcc6k into the box design.
Honestly, I couldn’t agree with you more. I think the quality of footage is better with Black Magic hands-down but that being said, I think that this makes shooting quick running gun content so simple.
oh hell yes that's why we usually just leave the sony for bts, or if i'm covering a festival i let her handle dancers and fans and one on ones cuz we can tuck off somewhere tight i can't get my rig into without it taking it off the gimbal. i envy the light weight tho really lol i'm fckin dying bro and this season just started haha
All things considered, the FX3 is the best cinema camera on the market right now. Size, features, price etc. It will be relevant until 6k becomes the standard which might be in 4 years. So until then…
Blackmagic is junk, never use it for anything you want to look good. I was a die hard Canon fan who thought they would be the best forever.. until now. What makes the FX3 better is the MOTION. The motion on camera looks cinematic, all these other cameras that are it's equivalent still have that ugly pronsumer attempt at cinematic motion look.

Yeah €4500 I’m not sure if that’s worth it in the states you can get it for $3800 which is even cheaper in euros

Depends on budget and what your needs are and of course what lenses you have. What do you shoot?

I noticed your used the Freewell K2 lens filter. I used it as well. Its great, small, versatile and keeps the whole setup small as well.
I said fuck it and bought one yesterday. I already have a7siii but been doing mukticam stuff a lot. Will pay for itself!

I believe I customized PP6 but I definitely use Cine EI to shoot. Typically I shoot everything in Slog3 and for color mode I set it to S-Gamut3.Cine

Half the black magics don’t have NDs, or view finders. And they actually are adding shutter angle later this year to the fx3
